Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Hunt – Part II

The city had begun whispering.

Not through newsfeeds or encrypted fixers' channels—but in the sewers, the alleyways, the lowlifes that didn't even register on Night City's radar.

Scavs were disappearing.

Not just a few.

Hundreds.

Overnight.

And no one knew who.

No tags left. No mercy shown. No survivors to speak.

But the few who saw something before they died remembered gold.

A glint. A flash. A blur of black.

A ghost in a suit that killed like a war crime.

His name?

They didn't even know that.

Day Two – Five Targets, 300+ Kills

M's assault began at dawn.

He left the mansion in the Javelina, freshly washed by Ava, fully armed, and mentally tuned to war.

Base One: Rooftop Slaughter – Japantown

It was supposed to be a low-risk organ market.

Instead, it became a killbox.

M scaled the adjacent tower, scoped the rooftop operation, and used his SOR-22 Precision Rifle to quietly eliminate the snipers on overwatch. Then he base-jumped off the tower, crashing through a window with his Ajax rifle blazing.

By the time the organ-coolers knew what hit them, half of them were on fire.

Base Two: Sewer Labyrinth – Under the Glen

The scavs thought the sewers would protect them.

M brought flashbangs, and their fortress became their casket.

He didn't even use the Katana this time.

He just flooded the tunnels with lead.

Base Three: Mall Ruins – Northside

Here he used the MA70 HB Light Machine Gun—a belt-fed monster.

The mall was a shattered husk of old consumerism, retrofitted with scaffolding, scav beds, and black-market tech.

M went in loud.

Thirty died before anyone returned fire.

He tore through floors like a force of nature.

Base Four: Cyber-clinic Hideout – Arroyo

This one was personal. He found logs. Tapes. People used for black braindance recording, rape , gore , torture even on little kids. This time M was angry touch whoever you want but leave the kids alone that is his code.

He didn't kill fast.

He cut them apart.

He made sure it hurt it was agonizing. Thus unlocking a new skill

- torturer : 1.6

Base Five: Warehouse Fortress – Badlands Edge

He brought the Javelina in hard, smashing through the front wall, turret blazing. Then hopped out and lobbed a plasma grenade that erased the sentries on the catwalks.

He killed seventy-three in one sitting.

Then went home, poured whiskey, and watched reruns of an old cartoon Ava found for him.

He laughed like a kid .

Day Three – Five More, 200+ Kills

If Day Two was rage, Day Three was efficiency.

He moved like a shadow of vengeance—never touching the same gun twice.

He used the Tamayura pistols in a neon-lit brothel base, moving between red-light rooms like a demon. In another spot, he used only knives. In a third, he rigged the whole base with high yielding explosive. Let's say people enjoyed the fireworks that day.

By dusk, over 200 scav corpses littered five districts.

He came home exhausted. Ava, still trying not to freak out, handed him soup and a stim patch.

He nodded in thanks.

Neither of them said a word.

Day Four – The City Reacts

The scavs weren't stupid. Just… chronically short-sighted.

They started noticing the pattern.

Night after night, bodies.

Someone was thinning them out.

By midday, they started grouping. M got wind from Rogue.

"Over a hundred in a garage in Rancho Coronado. All armored. All twitchy."

Even M had to raise an eyebrow. "They really piled up that fast?"

"You kicked the nest, now it's writhing."

He drove past one of their new strongholds that evening—scavs on every rooftop, all screaming at shadows, gun barrels pointed at flies.

He smiled faintly.

"They're scared."

But he didn't attack. Not that day. Or the next.

Day Five – The Off Day

M took the day off. Ava insisted.

"You haven't even sat in the couch you bought," she argued. "And you've killed like… a thousand people in a week."

"Scavs don't count."

"Still. Sit down before I put sleeping pills in your coffee."

So he did.

He even tried to watch a movie with Ava.

It was a classic old romantic comedy. Something harmless.

Halfway through, the male lead confessed his love to the female lead in the pouring rain.

M blinked.

"…Why is he crying? He won."

Ava snorted from the couch.

"He's crying because he won. That's how emotions work."

M nodded slowly.

"Right. I remember. I think I cried… once before."

She raised a brow. "Let me guess. When your dog died?"

"No. Though I appreciate the reference. I cried When I accidentally deleted my Witcher 3 save file."

"…You're hopeless."

"I'm effective."

She threw a pillow at him.

Day Six – 6 Targets, 300+ Kills

Like he predicted, the scavs got comfortable.

Their grouping started falling apart. Too many bodies meant too many arguments, turf claims, and mistakes.

They didn't expect the Lion to come back.

Base One: Dockside Hold – Westbrook

The Defender LMG sang its brutal song.

Bodies crumpled on shipping containers. M danced between them like a grim poet.

Base Two: Rooftop Slums – Charter Hill

He went back to stealth. Just knives and revolvers.

By the time the last scav screamed, three entire apartment blocks were silent.

Base Three to Six: Rapid-Strike Combo

A gang meeting turned massacre.

An abandoned casino turned a slaughter house.

A neon-drug den vaporized in thirty seconds.

A rooftop rave that ended with no music and 58 dead.

By midnight, M's gear was soaked. His boots left blood trails.

He came home, opened the door, and exhaled slowly.

Ava looked up from her datapad in the kitchen.

"You want food?"

He gave her a tired smile. "Yeah. Make it spicy."

She paused. Then grinned. "You've earned it."

At Midnight – his office room....

M stood shirtless in his home office. His jacket hung on the back of the chair. The Katana rested on the table. The light was low, warm.

He opened his system panel.

Kill Count (Total so far): 1,239 scavs

Points Earned: +12.39 Attribute Points | +12.39 Skill Points

He stared at the numbers, hands on the desk.

His war had barely begun.

But soon, he would evolve.
