The next morning, the grove shimmered with frost. Tiny icicles hung from branches, and a soft layer of snow dusted the ground, sparkling in the sunlight. Beneath the glowing Christmas tree, the gifts piled up, secret and mysterious, filling the grove with a sense of quiet anticipation.
Thalanir stood slightly apart, eyes twinkling with mischief. "I have an idea," he said, voice carrying a note of excitement. Everyone turned to him, curiosity piqued.
"What is it?" Maelin asked, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
Thalanir gestured toward the forest, toward the frozen lake that reflected the pale morning light. "The lake should be frozen solid by now. In my old village, we used to skate on it during the winter. It's perfect for some fun."
