Gloria stood quietly in the corner, having just finished tidying up the room. She was about to ask Mira for some bedding when she overheard Sebastian's remark.
She hadn't even thought about her wages. After all, Sebastian had only kept her here as a maid to humiliate her. But hearing him say it out loud felt like scarsam. How much could a maid earn in a month anyway? Was Sebastian really that afraid she'd run off with the money? How long did he plan to torment her?
"What are you doing here? Are you trying to scare someone?" Mira nearly bumped into Gloria as she headed to the storage room, giving her a fright.
Gloria snapped out of her thoughts.
"Sorry, I just finished cleaning the room and noticed there's no bedding."
Mira frowned. "I'll have someone bring you a set later. For now, follow me."
