The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
"Speak to the Israelites: if a man or a woman desires to make a special vow of separation to Me—a Nazirite vow—thereby making them a Nazirite, this is the law.
They must abstain from wine, strong drink, vinegar made from wine, grape juice, grapes, and even raisins. Nothing from the vine may pass their lips, not seed nor skin. Throughout the days of the vow, no razor may touch their head; their hair shall grow long, a visible crown of their consecration to the LORD.
They must not go near a dead body—not even for father, mother, brother, or sister. For the sign of their separation rests upon their head, and they are holy to the LORD all their days."
But if someone were to die suddenly in the Nazirite's presence, making him unclean, the consecrated hair would be defiled. On the seventh day, he was to shave his head, and on the eighth, bring two doves or two pigeons to the priest—one for a sin offering, the other for a burnt offering. Then he would rededicate himself, offering a lamb for guilt. The earlier days of his vow would not be counted, for his separation had been broken.
When the appointed time of separation ended, the Nazirite was to be brought to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting with offerings: a male lamb for a burnt offering, a ewe lamb for a sin offering, a ram for a fellowship offering, along with grain and drink offerings, and a basket of unleavened bread—cakes mixed with oil and wafers spread with oil.
The priest would present them before the LORD, offer the sacrifices, and at last, the Nazirite would shave off the dedicated hair at the Tent's entrance, placing it into the fire beneath the fellowship offering. Then the priest would take the boiled shoulder of the ram, a cake, and a wafer, placing them in the Nazirite's hands, and wave them before the LORD as holy offerings. These portions belonged to the priest, and after this, the Nazirite could once more drink wine.
Such was the law of the Nazirite, who offered these sacrifices according to his vow, in addition to anything else he could give. Whatever he vowed, he must fulfill.
Then the LORD spoke again to Moses:
"Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them:
The LORD bless you and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
The LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.'
In this way they will place My name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them."
