Chapter 274: The Creed of the Demon Slayer Corps Shocks Konohamaru's Young Mind
"I didn't expect to meet a ninja inside the game,"
Kagaya Ubuyashiki said with astonishment as he looked at the outfit of the person who had appeared. With courtesy in his tone, he added, "I am the current head of the Ubuyashiki family and the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. I truly appreciate your help."
"No need to thank me—it was no trouble at all."
A young-looking player wearing protective goggles around his neck and a thick blue scarf that trailed down to his feet waved his hand casually.
Hearing Kagaya's words, the boy looked puzzled. "I've never heard of the Ubuyashiki family—are you nobles from one of the Five Great Nations?"
He was Konohamaru.
Though the shinobi world had undergone great changes, he was sure he'd never heard of any family called Ubuyashiki.
"The Five Great Nations?"
Now it was Kagaya and Gyomei's turn to look confused.
They had never heard of any "Five Great Nations" either.
In the world of Demon Slayer, there was only a single land and one centralized nation. While demons roamed the night, they had never shaken the foundations of the country, which had remained stable for centuries. There were certainly no other nations.
The two sides exchanged glances.
After a brief exchange, they both came to understand the truth—and were equally astonished.
With a gentle smile, Kagaya said, "So you're a player from another world. What a strange and miraculous encounter."
There was no hostility.
Kagaya was not the scheming, power-hungry type, and the other was just a boy.
More importantly, death didn't exist in the Reincarnation Game. Even if ambushed, you'd just be sent back to the real world and pay a small revival fee.
"If you don't mind, shall we team up?"
Konohamaru was actually worrying about being alone.
He had just become a player, and the level gap between him and Naruto or the others was too wide. He couldn't join their teams, so he had come to Glen Forest by himself.
Never did he expect to meet players from another world.
"Much appreciated."
Kagaya agreed without hesitation.
Though the other boy was young, the way he had taken down the ice goblin showed he was not to be underestimated. Teaming up with him would clearly benefit Kagaya and Gyomei more.
"Konohamaru-san, was that a ninja-exclusive explosive you just used?"
Gyomei pressed his palms together to pray for the fallen goblin.
Along the way, most of the goblins they encountered had been dispatched by Konohamaru.
The boy could unleash explosive flames with frightening power.
It seemed that he and Sound Hashira Uzui, who was also from a ninja clan, had some similarities.
"It's ninjutsu. You don't know what ninjutsu is?"
Konohamaru was surprised. In the ninja world, even ordinary people knew about ninjutsu.
But thinking they were from another world, he quickly understood and generously began explaining information about the shinobi world.
Revealing that kind of intel to outsiders would get him locked up in most situations—except maybe if Naruto did it too.
"Ninjutsu… Kekkei Genkai…"
Kagaya's mind was opened to a whole new world.
Breathing techniques were already the peak of human martial arts in their world. At best, they could split rocks or chop through bridges.
But according to Konohamaru, even the strongest Demon Slayer, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, wouldn't rank among the elite in his world.
"Techniques that reshape the terrain… It's no wonder someone was called the God of Shinobi."
Gyomei trembled with excitement, chanting softly.
If they had that level of strength,
Muzan Kibutsuji could be crushed like a bug.
Konohamaru, on the other hand, was stunned by the mention of demons—monsters that roamed the night, hiding in the shadows and killing with strange blood demon arts.
As he spoke more about them,
his face twisted with an odd expression. The more he described demons, the more they sounded like ninjas.
"Konohamaru-san,"
Kagaya suddenly voiced a bold idea. "If the Ubuyashiki family offered enough sincerity, could we hire the God of Shinobi to help us eliminate the Demon King in our world?"
If Muzan were defeated, all demons born from him would vanish.
"I'd love to help, but getting to another world is extremely difficult,"
Konohamaru frowned. "You'd need a special item dropped by a boss—a rare rule-based tool. Even if someone did get one, they'd rarely use it just to help others."
Hearing that,
Kagaya's expression dimmed. Killing Muzan wasn't going to be easy.
"Yashiki-san,"
Konohamaru suddenly asked, "you said your family shares the same bloodline as the Demon King. But all of you want to kill him. Haven't you ever considered becoming demons yourselves? Immortality, freedom from disease—it sounds like a great deal."
Though he was just a kid,
the question hit like a hammer. Even Gyomei shed tears.
It was an unexpected but piercing question.
"Sorry, that was rude!"
Konohamaru quickly apologized.
Normally, he was just like Naruto—pulling pranks and seeking approval. He dreamed of becoming a respected Hokage someday.
But the tension in Konoha lately had forced him to grow up fast.
He asked that question because of his own experiences.
After all, even though they shared blood, his uncle Asuma and grandfather Hiruzen had nearly become enemies.
He wondered—if just one side had compromised, couldn't everything have been different?
"Because demons eat people,"
Kagaya replied, seeing the confusion in the boy's eyes. His tone was gentle as ever.
"If demons could live without eating humans, then maybe it would be a good choice, like you said."
"But they can't."
That was an unbridgeable divide.
"What if you fed them criminals on death row?"
Konohamaru asked.
"No."
Kagaya shook his head. "That would be like opening a floodgate. First, death row inmates. Then lesser criminals. Then anyone deemed useless. Before long, not even the old, the weak, or women and children would be safe."
His tone was resolute.
Even with the Reincarnation Game offering tools to lift their curse, he had never wavered in his resolve to destroy Muzan.
"I see…"
Konohamaru murmured.
Strangely enough,
he began to see his grandfather, the new Hokage, as someone much like Muzan.
A man who used excuses and manipulation to solidify power—alienating the Hyuga Clan after one defeat, pushing them to the village's edge.
Whenever Konohamaru questioned him,
he'd be silenced with: "This is the only way to preserve the village."
But now,
he'd found a new answer from his new friend in another world.
"A village should be built to protect those we care about. It shouldn't trade bonds for blood and fear."
"If we have to sacrifice our comrades to keep the village alive…"
"Then let that kind of village vanish!"
