Chapter 208: The Founding of the Alabasta Family
She quickly wiped away her tears and asked, "As long as I obtain the family token, can I guarantee protection from pirate invasions?"
"In the future, Alabasta won't be the only family on this sea. There will be conflict between families as well."
Fang Yi didn't hide anything and explained, "But once Alabasta becomes a family territory, it will have the opportunity to grow stronger. As long as the will to protect the family is strong enough, it can be defended."
"An opportunity to grow stronger?"
Vivi made her decision without hesitation. Determination filled her beautiful eyes as she said, "If everything is true, then I'm willing!"
To keep watching Alabasta be destroyed by Crocodile, or to exchange a vast island territory and retreat into safety, awaiting a chance to rise—it wasn't a difficult choice.
"Deal concluded."
A pure white, exquisitely crafted family token fell into Vivi's hand.
With a single thought, the palm-sized token shot into the sky at incredible speed, releasing a cascade of white light.
Everything within the glow was instantly severed from the consciousness of the pirate world and brought under the rules of the Reincarnation Game.
A family monument erupted from the earth.
Centered around the monument, a thick desert wall rose up, enclosing all land within the newly established family territory.
[Alabasta Family]
Family Level: 1
Family Emblem: None
Family Buildings: Family Monument (destruction results in family disbandment), Level 1 Family Wall
Family Leader: Nefertari Vivi
Family Officers: None
Family Members: 1/200
Family Assets: 900,000 Reward Points
...
Unlike the Shinobi World, whose world consciousness was willing to cooperate in a win-win arrangement, allowing Fang Yi to lease Game territory to players…
The pirate world's consciousness refused to cooperate.
So Fang Yi took a different approach—he directly severed Alabasta's link to the pirate world, making it a part of the Reincarnation Game. As the royal princess, Vivi naturally inherited this section of the world's essence, converted into reward points.
"So this is the Alabasta Family?"
A flood of information regarding the family system rushed into Vivi's mind, making her dizzy.
Following the guidance in the data,
Vivi immediately went into the [Tier 1 Family Shop] and purchased a random family emblem.
[Purchase successful. Congratulations, you've obtained the family emblem: [Flowing Sand Control]!]
A badge resembling shifting sand embedded itself into the family monument.
Still hiding in the ruins buried under sand, Vivi suddenly felt something stir within her.
She stretched out her hand—
Masses of yellow sand shifted as if guided by invisible hands, sliding off the ground with a whisper.
Soon,
The buildings once buried by the sand began to re-emerge in full.
Vivi sprinted through the ruins, and wherever she passed, the raging desert sand seemed frozen in place, retreating like a falling tide.
In no time,
The town of Eluma was completely unearthed, revealing the vibrant traces of the desert jewel it once was.
Vivi stared at her hands in disbelief and asked, "This… is the power of a family emblem?"
"A level-one family emblem isn't particularly powerful."
Fang Yi smiled and explained, "Flowing Sand Control is a combat-type emblem. It grants family members the ability to manipulate quicksand. The strength is comparable to someone who's just eaten the Sand-Sand Fruit and is still getting used to it."
"Of course, you can only control sand—you can't become sand. That requires a different emblem."
He hadn't expected Vivi to immediately purchase a family emblem right after establishing the family.
Was it because of her overwhelming desire to save Alabasta, or did she simply not grasp the true value of reward points?
"All family members?"
Upon hearing this, Vivi's eyes widened.
The system data had told her that anyone could be recruited as a family member—so long as they were willing.
The initial limit was 200 members.
By expanding the family residences, she could increase that number even more.
Fang Yi nodded. "That's right."
"So that means…" Vivi asked in disbelief, "A single family emblem can let two hundred people control flowing sand?"
Fang Yi corrected her, "At least two hundred."
Otherwise, how could a family emblem sell for prices comparable to those of certain lower-tier bloodlines?
The Reincarnation Game required investment, yes—but every bit of cost was worth the return. Nothing was cheaped out.
"Expand the family building [Residences], and you can continue to recruit new family members. They'll all share the sand-controlling ability."
Fang Yi's words were casual,
But Vivi's mouth hung open in shock, momentarily forgetting her usual composure.
She had thought that two hundred elite soldiers with sand-controlling powers was already an incredible force—but that was only the beginning. One day, this group could grow into a full army!
She couldn't wait any longer. "Can I start recruiting family members now?"
Because Crocodile had suddenly rushed to the East Blue,
The rebel army was already preparing to attack the capital. If they weren't stopped in time, countless civilians would die in this meaningless civil war.
Fang Yi reminded her, "With your current physical ability, even if you ride a Moving Crab, you won't make it in time."
"I can't just stand here and watch my people slaughter each other!"
Vivi deeply regretted leaving Karoo behind. She had been afraid of danger, so she'd quietly slipped away from the port town alone.
Fang Yi reminded her again, "There's something in the family shop you need."
Small Family Teleportation Scroll: Instantly teleports up to 50 family members to a location within 5,000 km of the family territory. Price: 5,000 Reward Points.
Mind Communicator: Establishes temporary contact with up to 5 beings within 5,000 km of the territory, provided favorability is 50 or higher. Price: 3,000 Reward Points.
...
The first was a short-range teleport scroll. The second was a recruitment support tool.
Normally, no one would be extravagant enough to buy the Mind Communicator—it was cheaper to just walk a few extra steps and save thousands of points.
But for Vivi, it was a godsend.
"Purchase Mind Communicator."
After seeing the description, Vivi beamed with joy and immediately used the item.
[Establishing temporary mind communication channel… Locating compatible lifeform…]
"Quack!"
"Karoo, is that you?!"
"Quack quack quack!"
The familiar sound of her duck's voice echoed in her mind.
Angrily, Karoo quacked in protest, clearly upset that Vivi had abandoned him.
"I'm sorry, Karoo. I need your help right now—please don't refuse me!"
"Quack."
Though still angry, Karoo gave a heavy nod.
[You've successfully recruited a new family member: Karoo]
"Karoo, hurry to the rebel army camp—stop the uprising!"
"Quack?"
Karoo froze.
He pointed a stubby wing at his confused duck face.
You mean… me?
Vivi seemed to sense his confusion and quickly added, "Dummy, can't you feel it? You're not the same anymore!"
"Quack?"
Karoo lifted a wing, unsure—
And then suddenly, a surge of quicksand erupted under his flapping wings like a sand dragon shooting into the sky.
"QUACK QUACK QUACK!"
His eyes nearly popped out of his head, filled with absolute confusion and shock.
"No time to explain. I'll fill you in later. With your new abilities, the rebel army can't hurt you. Go—I'll be right behind you!"
"Quack!"
Karoo's expression turned serious.
He raised his head, then took off running at full speed toward the rebel camp.
It was Karoo Corps time!
