Kai's POV
Kai's heart stopped when he saw Maya fall.
Even with the wolfsbane poison still burning through his blood, he found the strength to run to her side. Maya was unconscious, and there was blood on the ground beneath her.
"Maya!" he shouted, dropping to his knees beside her. "Maya, wake up!"
Ethan appeared next to them, his face white with fear. "She's in labor, Kai. The baby is coming now."
"What baby?" Kai felt confused and terrified. "Maya's pregnant?"
"Two months along. The stress of the battle caused early labor." Ethan checked Maya's pulse. "We have to get her somewhere safe. Now."
Around them, the pack war was still burning. Victoria's fighters were regrouping, and Kai could hear Victoria herself yelling orders somewhere in the chaos.
"The cave," Kai said suddenly. "There's a small cave behind the waterfall where we used to play as children. Victoria doesn't know about it."
"Can you carry her?"
