Chapter 21 - You are coming with me

Lydia's POV

I was still staring at the wolf with golden eyes when I heard Mia speak. "Mate." Suddenly, relief washed over me.

She quickly got up, raising me up too, and then her mate howled loudly. Other wolves joined him. I felt scared but oddly happy. Now we are safe, I thought right until the guy and the lady who attacked us appeared again, looking at us and smiling.

What's so funny? I wondered, staring at them in awe. Then I looked at our side. Me, Mia, her mate, and three other wolves were here, at least we could take them out. Minus me, because I can't fight them.

"Move back," Mia instructed, and I moved back, them shielding me. Suddenly, Mia transformed into a wolf and howled. Goosebumps covered my skin. I wasn't prepared for this. Taking two deep breaths, I told myself that this is not a new thing to me I have seen it before and I have to get used to it.

The guy and the lady began to laugh inhumanly, and I stared at them, shaking my head in pity. They will meet their end today, I concluded only to see them drawing signs in the air. Suddenly, a strange looking creature jumped out of the portal they created, growling at our direction.

What the heck is that? I uttered, and Mia replied, "They are Ignivore. Very dangerous. Stay far!" she said, and fear gripped me.

They looked like wolves but with dark horns and red fur. Their eyes had a mix of black and red, and their nostrils emitted smoke as they breathed.

"Attack!" the guy shouted, and I watched as the Ignivore's mouth poured out fire, but the werewolves dodged it and struck it, knocking it out.

I was immersed watching the fight when suddenly I felt a chilling breeze pass me. Before I could turn back to see what it was, a sharp dagger was placed one inch from my neck, and I remained stiff.

"If you move an inch, I will slit your throat," I heard the guy's cold voice, and the hairs on my body stood on alert.

Closing my eyes, I remembered in my past life I learned some fighting skills for self defense. Since he was not using his powers, I might fight my way through.

"Please don't hurt me," I spoke, feigning weakness, and I heard him chuckle in pleasure. I smirked at his chuckle.

Closing my eyes and counting to three in my head, I opened them and immediately used my elbow to hit his stomach, catching him off guard. He groaned in pain, and the dagger fell from his hand and hit the floor.

We both looked at the dagger, and he rushed toward it. I used my feet to mash his hand, and he removed it, looking at me angrily.

I smiled and rushed forward, picking the dagger and pointing it at him. He laughed at my actions.

"You think you can hurt me, huh?" he spat, his voice laced with mockery. I bit my lower lip. He was right, I couldn't actually hurt him with this dagger.

"Just hand it over and follow me peacefully, and I promise you I won't hurt you," he said calmly, and I scoffed.

"You want me to believe you, huh?" I spoke and watched him take little steps toward me. He was surely not afraid of me.

I thought and shook my head in pity.

"Hand it over calmly," he said, using his hand to demonstrate how I should give it to him.

"I don't want to!" I retorted and watched him smile.

"Okay, let's play a game. If I beat you, I will take you with me and you won't object," he said, sounding like a kidnapper that would offer a kid sweets and promise them more if they followed him.

"Why must I follow you?" I questioned, wanting to know more.

"We welcome your type in our realm. Our king would be glad to see you," he said as if promising me many riches. But he failed to know that even if I looked younger and inexperienced physically, my memories were that of a twenty three year old who had spent years in business, knowing people's tricks and traps in the industry. Though that may not really help in this world, I knew his offer was not reasonable.

It had a silver lining, but it was a big trap, and anyone who fell into it would meet doom.

"If you really mean good, then why forcefully want to take me to your king?" I asked and watched him pause for a while.

"That is the only place you will be welcomed," he said calmly, and I laughed at his calm tone. He was trying hard to convince me.

"That's not enough!" I said, and he laughed.

"Then let's play the game."

"I am not interested," I replied, and he laughed, this time coldly. "You have no option," he said and charged forward.

How do I beat this guy? I knew even the little fighting skills I had wouldn't help because he looked extremely strong.

"Delia, are you there? I need help. If you don't help me out, we will all die in his hands," I said in me, for the first time admitting me and Delia are one.

And I heard her mocking laugh.

"Don't laugh," I spoke out loudly, and the guy paused and looked at me oddly. Then he held both my hands. I struggled to break free, but he didn't let go. He kicked my side, causing me to drop the dagger and gasp in pain.

He reached for the dagger and picked it up, smiling triumphantly.

"I won," he said, and I frowned at his words.

"I haven't given up yet," I said, and he gave me an amused look.

"Okay then," he said and rushed forward.

"Kick his hand!" Delia instructed, and I obeyed, swinging my leg, which landed on his hand, causing the dagger to fall off.

He looked at me, his eyes burning in rage, and he muttered, "adhuc manere," and suddenly my leg was stiff. I tried to move it, but it wasn't moving. This bastard must have cast a spell on me.

I looked at him in anger, but I couldn't do anything or run away. He moved closer to me, now with the dagger in his hand.

Placing the dagger on my neck, he spoke coldly. "Game over. You are coming with me."

My body stiffened with fear. I closed my eyes, ready for what was to come, then I heard Delia's voice.

"Collect the dagger from his hand and strike before it's too late."

I used my eyes to look sideways and saw that his eyes were closed, and I knew he was probably concentrating on his magic to teleport us back to wherever he wanted.

My heart was racing rapidly as I gathered courage. I swung my hand, grabbing the dagger with force from his hand, and he opened his eyes, but before he could move, I plunged it right into his throat and removed the dagger with force. Blood trickled from his neck, touching my f

ace, and his eyes widened in shock as he fell backwards, and I regained my feet once again.
