Chapter 36 - Sausages, Spells, and Sibling Jealousy

It was a smell unlike anything he had ever known—surely it had to taste better than anything he had ever eaten.

In Bao Bei's head, sausages were holding hands in a ring and dancing in circles.

His tail swayed left and right in a flutter. His ears perked up, twitching sharply.

"You don't want it?"

The sausage, skewered on a fork, began to slowly move away.

Chomp.

Bao Bei leaned forward and bit into the sausage.

"Delicious. So delicious. Mnya. Munch munch."

With his mouth open wide, Bao Bei eagerly ate the soup, sausage, eggs, and bread that Jihl fed him. The drool dripped and th crumbs scattered everywhere as he chomped away in a frenzy.

Everything tasted so good, he felt like his cheeks were going to fall off.

It might have been an ordinary meal for the people in the fortress, but for Bao Bei—who had lived humbly in a poor countryside church—it was a feast beyond imagination.
