Alaric didn't answer her right away. A tense silence settled between them. Ayesha lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes with quiet intensity.
"What's wrong?" she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
He exhaled slowly, the muscle in his jaw tightening. "If you want to personally know that person," he began, his tone low and restrained, "you'll have to give me time. I'm not ready to release him yet… not ready to speak about him. Just give me a little more time."
Her brows furrowed slightly, but she stayed silent, even though curiosity was eating her alive.
