Chapter 7 - You Don't

Marcus walked out of his private elevator with a stoic expression on his face. He was heading to the garage so he could drive home.

As he walked down the hallway, despite his stoic expression, the staff fixated their gazes on him.

The majority of the workers were wolves; no doubt they could feel his Alpha presence and aura, while the humans, mostly the ladies, were captivated by his dominant aura and gorgeous appearance.

His jet-black hair, combed back with a few strands elegantly falling over his forehead, accentuated his chiselled features, making him look like a Greek god right out of a picture.

In fact, Marcus was a clear definition of masculinity.

He walked to where Leo and Lucas were, and everyone fawned over them. Although Marcus possessed attractive features, Lucas and Caleb also had strong, debonair features.

Lucas' grey eyes and blonde hair made him stand out and easy to recognize, while Leo's charismatic aura and emerald eyes made him eye-catching.

The trio were a perfect example of being handsome.

Marcus was known to be the brooding and cold-hearted CEO who hates women. His staff were even surprised to see Jada associating with him, which was still a mystery to them as to how she made it.

Many of his female staff had tried flirting and seducing him, but all their efforts always proved abortive. This made them label him as a robot because, according to them, he lacked emotional human feelings.

Although Lucas possessed a cold-hearted character just like Marcus, his Alpha, he was more approachable and had lots of female friends.

"I thought you both had left for home? What are you doing here?" Marcus asked the both of them.

Lucas was about to reply when he saw Jada walking out of Marcus' elevator with tears evident in her eyes. She wasn't looking happy at all.

"I guess you disappointed her. I don't know why you have developed a sudden hatred for her lately," he snarled.

Marcus gave him a cold gaze as caution, and Lucas detached from the topic.

"You're yet to answer my question: what are you both still doing here?" Marcus asked with a tone of seriousness.

"Um... Um... Well, my Alpha. You haven't been yourself, and there's no way going home is best for you right now," Leo suggested.

"Yes, Alpha Marcus, you don't need a home," Lucas added. "After discussing this with Leo, we came to conclusion that it's best we drive you to any restaurant of your choice so you could refresh your mind and ease your worry," Lucas stated.

Marcus rolled his eyes as he digested what Lucas said. "I thought you had pack duties to do. What do you think your role as a beta is? To monitor me?" He questioned, staring at their faces.

"Not at all, my Alpha. I've done everything that needs to be done in the pack; hence, I'm here in the city. How about we go to a club and have some fun since you don't consent to a restaurant?" He said with a smile on his countenance, although a bit curious about what Marcus' response would be.

Marcus exhaled a breath and stared at them for some seconds before walking past them without uttering a word.

"I don't really know why he's acting so cold towards everyone. The same thing he did to Jada," Leo said, curious.

"Are you surprised? Today is the day Nina was banished from the pack, and he's come to realize his mistake," Lucas said and then paused. He glanced around, making sure no one was watching, and then leaned closer to Leo's ear. "I bet he's out of the spell Jada bewitched him with, which made him reject his long-term relationship with Nina and even banish her.

Leo's eyes widened in shock. "How sure are you about this?" He asked Lucas, doubtful.

"That should be a topic for the next day. Get in the car; we need to stop him from going home, or else he might do more stupid things at the park," Lucas responded as he hopped in the car.

Leo did as well, and they drove to Marcus before he could get to the cab garage. "Since you've refused any of our suggestions, do you think it's thoughtful to go home with a cab?" Lucas said as he whined down the glass.

Marcus didn't respond but kept strolling, but Lucas wasn't ready to back down. He was driving slowly beside him while convincing him to enter the car.

After much persuasion, Marcus sighed and stopped. He knew Lucas wasn't ready to stop, so he had to enter the car to save him the stress of an argument. He knew resisting entering would make them keep disturbing him.

Lucas has been the one performing the Alpha duties for the past year now.

After one year, Nina was expelled from the pack, and Marcus came to his senses. He had been in search of her, which led him to build a big company here in the city, and he had been living with the humans.

Marcus whined down the window slowly to gaze through the atmospheric nature and the people around.

He was still enjoying his view when he caught sight of a familiar face; and his countenance changed.

"Stop!" Marcus yelled at Lucas, and he abruptly halted in the middle of the road, causing the car behind them to collide with them.

Had it not been that it wasn't on speed, the accident would have been brutal.

However, Marcus wasn't bothered about the accident or the damages the car caused to his car. His sole attention and focus were on the figure, Nina.

He was about to alight and walk up to her when he noticed she wasn't alone. A man came out of a nearby roadside store and clasped hands with her before they walked away.

He was more pained upon witnessing how the man clutched hands with Nina, and she consented.

Marcus did his best to see the man's face, but all his efforts were to no avail as they were quick to walk away before him.

"My Alpha, what happened? Are you okay?" Lucas asked him while Leo stared at his face with curiosity written all over him.

They couldn't fathom what exactly was wrong with their Alpha.

Marcus' gaze was fixated in the direction Nina and the man went. Some seconds later, he sighed in regret.

He turned from the window and settled back in his seat, with his eyes closed.

At this point, his mood had changed from gloomy to something way worse, which made Leo and Lucas feel goosebumps on their bodies.

"Nothing happened, Lucas. I don't want to go home anymore. Just take me to the club," Marcus said, his words heavy with emotions.
