Chapter 5 - Twin Spirits and Inheritance Ring!

Jingsheng's eyes were still wide in shock as he stared at the words formed by the clear smoke-like white light.

- [Reward of Fate: Twin Martial Souls]

"That.... Does that mean I'll be getting the Martial Souls from Soul Land?" Asked the red eyed boy with his face still looking unbelieving of what he was seeing.

Instead of replying to his words, the Wisdom Spiritual Stove known as Fay simply smiled and waved her hands. At that moment as if responding to her actions... the clear smoke-like white light suddenly scattered into white light particles that then quickly entered into Jingsheng's chest.

"What the... Ugh!" Sounded the red eyed boy as he felt a quake-like shudder from his very soul. It was here that Jingsheng began to feel a relaxing stream of energy around his eyes, and once he opened them, they began to shine with mysterious light as a vertical eye shaped symbol suddenly appeared in-between his eyes.

This was the Martial Soul known as Spirit Eyes!

Shiiing!!!

Besides this there was also a bright red colored hammer symbol glowing from the back of his left hand. Once Jingsheng unfolded his left hand, a bright dark light shined and a small black hammer constantly sparking with electric-like spiritual pressure immediately appeared above the boy's hand.

This was the Martial Soul known as Clear Sky Hammer!

"This is...." Upon awakening his Martial Souls, Jingsheng immediately noticed his vision being able to better spot details among his surroundings.

Without warning Jingsheng's eyes which were shining with mysterious light suddenly turned pure purple.

"My Purple Demon Eyes.... broke through?" Thought the boy in surprise.

Ever since three years ago after he had awakened the Wisdom Spiritual Stove of Fate & Knowledge, one of the boons he had gained was knowledge on how to train the various techniques of the Soul Land world's Tang Sect.

Naturally among these techniques included the Purple Demon Eyes which was a technique meant for enhancing visual acuity and cultivating mental power.

Must know that before his reincarnation in this world, Jingsheng was a young adult with various life experiences during his previous life. As such after reincarnating in this world, his mental power was naturally far greater compared to others his age.

Now since the cultivation of the Purple Demon Eyes in itself is also tied to one's Mental Power, it stands to reason that his foundation for this technique was already high before he even started. Which is why after awakening his mental attribute Martial Soul the Spirit Eyes, his Purple Demon Eyes Technique instantly broke through the 'Detailed' realm which is the second stage of cultivation for the Purple Demon Eyes.

Undoubtedly whether it's the strength of his body or the power of his mind, Jingsheng had an extraordinary start in this life.

When his eyes turned back to normal, he couldn't help but next turn towards the small black hammer in his left hand.

"Clear Sky Hammer..." Muttered the red eyed boy as he held the small black hammer tightly in his hand.

Seeing this the Wisdom Spiritual stove named Fay simply said: "Try channeling some of your Spiritual Energy into it."

Hearing her words JIngsheng thought about it then nodded.

He then closed his eyes and began initiating the Mysterious Heaven Skill cultivation technique.

"Amazing... I can actually feel my Innate Spiritual Power moving through the use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill." Thought the red eyed boy as he began to channel his Spirit Energy into the small black hammer in his left hand.

Shiing!

Almost instantly the small black Clear Sky Hammer in Jingsheng's hand, grew to a size that required him to hold it with both of his hands.

"It's... heavier than I thought." Said Jingsheng as he stood up from his bed carrying his Clear Sky Hammer.

Realizing the heaviness of this hammer, the red eyed boy couldn't help but be somewhat thankful for the Gift of Strength given to him by Fay which greatly enhanced the strength of his body.

Little did he know awakening his twin spirits had also slightly enhanced his physical fitness.

As Jingsheng tried out swinging his new hammer martial soul, a faint white light then began flashing beside Fay.

Seeing this the Fairy-like Wisdom Spiritual Stove shook her head and waved her hand while muttering: "He's not ready for that yet."

As per her action, the flashing white light instantly vanished.

With that a thoughtful smile appeared on Fay's face.

....

Now walking towards the nearby woods, Jingsheng couldn't help but begin to inspect the red ring in his hands as he asked: "So your saying... my mom left this for me?"

Fay nodded and replied from within Jingsheng: "That's right... if I'm not mistaken that should be her inheritance ring."

Jingsheng couldn't help but be surprised hearing this. As far as he knew, the only ones who could give inheritance rings in this world are 9th Step cultivators or those with special sets of skills. The fact that Hong Meili could give him an inheritance ring meant that she was either of the two.

"That drunkard of a mother of mine... a 9th Step Knight?..... No way!" Thought the red eyed boy shaking his head.

He then remembered after leaving his room, he asked both his Aunt Nian as well as the kids in the orphanage where his mother was... but they simply told him that she left without saying a word after bringing him back.

"I guess that's typical of Mom... wonder when I'll see her again?... Haven't had the chance to thank her properly for helping me with my Sacred Awakening." Thought the red eyed boy.

"So anyway Fay... what are we training today?" Asked Jingsheng upon arriving in a wide area within the nearby forest. This was the place he would typically train his Tang Sect techniques under Fay's guidance.

"Hm?... Oh good targets." Suddenly Jingsheng noticed several small flying insects nearby.

Upon activating his Purple Demon Eyes and taking out some small needles from his pocket which he forged himself, the brown-haired boy immediately threw the several needles in his hand towards the nearby small flying insects with exact precision.

whoosh..whoosh..whoosh..

Within a blink's worth of time, only small insect wings could now be seen floating down from the nearby trees.

"My accuracy has clearly improved with the awakening of my Spirit Eyes and the breakthrough of my Purple Demon Eyes.... also.... I only noticed just now, but I feel so much stronger compared to before.... Perhaps this is due to my Sacred Awakening?" Thought Jingsheng as he stared at his hands clenched into fists.

shiiing!

With a flash of white the Wisdom Spiritual Stove named Fay appeared before Jingsheng with a smile and said: "I'm not sure if you've realized, but after awakening as the Saint Scion of Fate and gaining the Twin Spirits of Spirit Eyes and Clear Sky Hammer, your External Spiritual Power has been raised to 402."

"Seriously?!" Said Jingsheng as he was somewhat shocked that he was improving so fast.

Fay: "With far above average External Spiritual Power for your age coupled with a decent foundation in Tang Sect Martial Arts, I believe it's time we tried something different today."

Jingsheng: "Are we gonna start training using my Martial Souls?... Or do I have to start working on the other Mission of Fate?"

Fay simply shook her head and then waved her small hand, and with her action the red ring from Jingsheng's pocket immediately floated in front of them.

Jingsheng: "My old lady's ring?"

Fay: "Indeed... I believe learning some of the techniques within your mother's inheritance ring now, would be of great benefit to your future growth."

After saying these words, Hong Meili's inheritance ring gently floated onto Jingsheng's palm.

Fay: "However before we begin there is something I must first explain to you."

Hearing Fay's serious tone, Jingsheng quickly turned back towards her and listened attentively.

Fay: "Take note that ever since you awakened your Martial Souls your Internal Spiritual Energy has become completely tied to your Spirit Rank cultivation making it so that you can no longer increase your Internal Spiritual Energy unless you absorb a Spirit Ring."

Upon hearing this, Jingsheng's eyes couldn't help but grow wide as he asked: "Wait if that's the case how can I make breakthroughs in the future? Is there even a place in Holy Demon Continent where I can get Spirit Rings?... Are the magical beasts of this world able to leave behind Spirit Rings upon death like Spirit Beasts can?"

In reply to the boy's words, Fay simply shook her head and said: "Regarding this matter, you shouldn't think too much about it... I will eventually prepare means for you to obtain Spirit Rings... For now, what you must focus on is to get as strong as possible using the means and resources you've been provided."

Thinking about things for a moment, the brown-haired boy then raised the red ring in his hand and asked: "So... how do I use my old lady's inheritance ring?"

Fay: "Close your eyes and listen well to what I say."

To her words Jingsheng nodded and closed his eyes while listening intently.

After some brief moments... a white light flashed.

shiiing!

....

When Jingsheng next opened his eyes, he found himself in what looked to be a large hall-like area with numerous human sized stone slabs that have images of knights on them.

"Is this... the inheritance room in my Mom's Inheritance Ring?" Muttered the red eyed boy as he scanned his surroundings.

Fay then appeared beside him and said: "As you should already be aware... each one of these stone slabs are actually cards that contains a knight skill which your mother had learned during her time as a knight."

Hearing this Jingsheng simply nodded without looking as he was still captivated by the sight of the inheritance room around him.

Fay: "Your main goal this time is to learn several basic knight skills and properly integrate them into your own fighting style along with the Tang Sect Martial Arts that you've already learned."

"Learning how to combine knight skills with Tang Sect Martial Arts huh... Sounds really interesting." Said Jingsheng as he couldn't hide the slight excitement in his tone. Must know that despite everything, deep down he was still a major fan of Tang Jia San Shao's novels. Clearly he already had some vague ideas on how to combine certain techniques in combat.

Fay: "For now wear the ring on your finger."

With a nod Jingshing wore the ring on his left ring finger.

shiiing!

At that moment the ring flashed with light as it got smaller and fitted perfectly on Jingsheng's small ring finger.

shiiing!

It was here that the entire room lit up in gold light as the knight images on the skill cards raised their swords as if welcoming their new lord.

Fay: "The inheritance ring has completely recognized you as it's master... which I do not find surprising since you and Hong Meili are Mother and Son."

When the gold light in the inheritance room faded, Fay raised her hand and three skill cards near Jingsheng lit up in white.

Fay: "For now how about you start learning these three skills first?"

Seeing the three specific skill cards being lit up in white, JIngsheng simply nodded towards Fay and approached them.

Closing his eyes then placing his hand on the skill card at the middle of the three, the red eyed boy began to see visions of an armored knight taking up a stance with his sword.

After a brief moment the armored knight in the vision finally moved. Swinging his sword forward in a flash as he charged unleashing a bright white energy slash.

In an instant Jingsheng knew what this move was... It was one of the most basic attack skills for a knight... Pure White Edge!

....

Over a Week Later....

Deep within the nearby woods close to Kratos Town... a young brown-haired boy wielding a pair of wooden swords could be seen being surrounded by what looked to be several large lizard-like creatures.

The boy was naturally Feng Jingsheng while as the large lizards surrounding him were his targets for the day. For these group of large lizards, the brown-haired boy being surrounded by them was nothing more but a scrumptious prey.

Roar!

whoosh...

As the large lizards began to pounce on the boy, Jingsheng suddenly opened his eyes shining with mysterious light.

With the activation of the Spirit Eyes, Jingsheng's perception of time immediately became enhanced to the point where he felt as if the large lizards were moving in slow motion. Although he could achieve the same effects with Purple Demon Eyes, just simply activating his Spirit Eyes consumed less mental strength.

By this point Jingsheng could see the attacking lizards in much better detail. Coupled with his experience and instincts as a hunter from his previous life, Jingsheng immediately knew how to counterattack these lizards.

Roar!

The large lizards roared as they pounced on the brown-haired boy!

As for Jingsheng he looked as if he didn't care about their oncoming attacks and simply tilted his body sideways dodging two of the large attacking lizards.

As for the remaining lizards, Jingsheng raised one of his wooden swords clad in what looked to be white spiritual energy and swung it horizontally towards them.

whoosh...

Pure White Edge!

Besides the two that he dodged earlier, all of the other large lizards were instantly cut in half by the white energy slash.

He then turned towards these two lizards and said: "Now tell the rest of your pals never to approach this area again."

Roar!

The two remaining lizards roared in fear as they ran away from the brown-haired boy as fast as they could.

Seeing this Jingsheng simply sighed and muttered: "Hopefully from now on those lizards will stop coming to this area near the town."

Fay then responded from within Jingsheng: "Well done... with this the town's hunters will probably be able to hunt for food within this area again. Also, your improvements have become quite clear compared to when you last fought such beasts."

Jingsheng: "What do you mean?"

Fay replied: "Perhaps you've forgotten but you've faced a similar group of large lizards last year. During that time, you were forced to use your incomplete Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track just to avoid their attacks. Now you are able to accurately anticipate and dodge their attacks with next to no effort at all. This is undoubtedly thanks to your training, Spirit Eyes and improved Mental Strength."

"Really?... Well I've hunted in this forest so many times that I barely remember some of the beasts I've fought." Muttered Jingsheng while scratching his head.

He then realized something and said: "Well... if the beasts in this area have become this easy to hunt, then perhaps I should find a new hunting ground to train in?"

Suddenly... a voice from above interrupted his thoughts.

"Well then how about you try sparring with me from now on?"

When Jingsheng raised his head and saw who it was, his eyes couldn't help but grow wide in surprise.

"Mom?!" Said the red eyed boy as he thought: "Why is she here?... I didn't think she would be back so soon!"

Indeed... it was Hong Meili standing atop a thick tree branch with a wide smile on her face.
