The following weeks, Jewel's investigation continued — but in reality, it had ended the day it began.
Meanwhile, at the northern border, David said, "Ma'am, the Vice-Captain's investigation bears no fruit so far."
Lilith replied, "Call him."
As the call connected, Jewel answered, "Go for Jewel."
Lilith said, "What's the progress of the investigation?"
Jewel replied, "Good afternoon, Ma'am. I was taking a nap."
Lilith snapped, "It's 3 PM, and you're still sleeping?"
"Sorry, Ma'am, couldn't help it — the dreams were just that good."
"I will personally observe your investigation," Lilith stated firmly.
Jewel said, "Understood."
Then Lilith contacted the Faust mansion. Gelda picked up and said, "Go for Gelda."
Lilith asked, "How is everything going at the mansion?"
Gelda replied, "Everything is going great. Liebe and the others are training."
Lilith asked, "And where is Tenebris? I hope he isn't too busy."
Gelda said, "Tenebris has been going out quite a bit lately, ever since he received a letter."
Lilith said, "Interesting. Well, I have to go now — but please take care of Liebe for me."
The following day, Lilith arrived at the eastern border.
Jewel greeted her, "Welcome, Ma'am. It's good to have you here."
Lilith replied, "Same here. Now show me — what has your investigation revealed so far?"
Jewel began, "So far, we've been able to deduce a few facts—"
Suddenly, it began to rain heavily. Sujibur said, "Ma'am, shall we go inside?"
Lilith shook her head. "No need. I would much rather see than hear."
Jewel pointed, "Look — we believe the traitor isn't a knight or anyone of high rank, but rather, someone who's most likely a servant."
Lilith raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. How did you figure that out?"
Jewel explained, "There are very low traces of magic, meaning whoever was here had weak magical power. And due to the border restrictions we enforced when all this began, no one could get near this place unless they knew Domr."
Lilith said, "Interesting. Hand me your modified Oculus."
Jewel passed it to her. "Here, Ma'am."
Jewel silently thought, What can I do to save him...?
Lilith used the Oculus — and discovered the identity of the traitor. She removed it slowly and whispered, "It can't be…"
Meanwhile, at the Faust mansion…
Liebe was watching the rain.
Gelda approached. "What are you doing, young lord?"
Liebe replied, "I'm watching the rain."
Gelda said gently, "I thought you disliked the rain."
Liebe murmured, "So does Daddy… since his magic doesn't work in the rain."
Gelda smiled sadly. "So you miss your dad."
Liebe nodded. "Yeah… He said he'll be back when he finishes his work. I hope Mommy, Daddy, and I can play together — after all of this is over."
Gelda said softly, "Yes… after all this is over."
