Chapter 29 - Followed

Amelia sighed before answering, "It's Isabella."

Isabella?

How could it be Isabella?

Emma's face instantly changed.

Just a moment ago, she had convinced her father to kick Isabella and her family out, but now Isabella was in the hospital's emergency room because of a car accident?

If this was just a coincidence, Emma didn't believe it at all!

"What happened?" Benjamin frowned and asked.

Amelia then explained the whole story.

It turned out that after Benjamin took Thomas away in anger that night, he had instructed the servants not to tell Amelia and had also blocked the news of Emma's kidnapping from Amelia.

But there are no secrets in this world.

The servants didn't say anything, but Isabella, who was worried, told Amelia about Emma's kidnapping.

As a mother, how could she sit still when she heard that her daughter had been kidnapped.

So she had the driver take her to find Emma, and Isabella went along with her.

However, on the way, for some reason, the car suddenly crashed into a roadside electric pole.

In a moment of desperation, Isabella risked her life to protect Amelia, resulting in only minor injuries for the latter but leaving Isabella herself covered in blood and rushed to the hospital's emergency room.

Upon hearing this, Emma felt no sympathy but found it rather ridiculous.

What a fool to put herself in harm's way like that!

If it weren't for Isabella's scheming, this car accident would have been averted, and she might as well have written her name backwards.

Isabella's actions had once again shaken Benjamin's resolve, which Emma had thought she had finally secured.

She had assumed Isabella would stay put at school, but instead, she had run off ahead of time and staged such a dramatic and life-threatening scene.

Seeing the shock in Benjamin's eyes and the guilt on Amelia's face, Emma knew that all her efforts had been in vain.

After a long silence, the lights in the emergency room went out.

The nurse came out pushing a unconscious Isabella on a stretcher, and Benjamin and Amelia immediately asked, "Doctor, how is she?"

"She has a moderate concussion and a broken right hand, but there is no danger to her life. She just needs to rest well from now on."

"Thank you, doctor," Isabella said as she was pushed into the hospital room.

Amelia breathed a sigh of relief, but turned to see her daughter silent and pained. "Emma, you must be scared too. Your injuries can't wait. Come on, let me find a doctor to treat you."

"No need," Emma said, looking directly at Benjamin.

She didn't say anything else, just watched quietly, waiting for her father's decision.

Benjamin bit his lip, caught in a dilemma.

In the end, he spoke to Emma with a pleading tone. "Your Second Uncle is no good. Dad knows you don't want to see them again, so I'll make sure they leave. But Isabella... she's innocent. We can't just abandon her, can we?"

Emma suddenly smiled.

This answer didn't disappoint her.

Benjamin knew his daughter never liked that family, so he continued to coax her. "Dad owes your Second Uncle two lives, and now they're paid back. But Isabella is innocent, we can't just..."

"It's never paid back. It's never paid back," Emma interrupted.

Emma interrupted Benjamin's words.

She gave a self-deprecating smile and spoke softly, almost to herself, as if sighing, "Dad, I'm really afraid I won't be able to protect you all..."

In the previous life, Isabella was the one who laughed last.

It was Isabella who caused the Miller Family to be destroyed.

Although her own foolishness was partly to blame in the previous life, Benjamin's ignorance and soft-heartedness were also reasons for the tragedy.

But now, all the pressure was on her alone.

Even Benjamin didn't know that everything she did was for them.

"Silly girl, what are you talking about? Dad doesn't need you to protect us. It's Dad who protects you and your mother and brother!"

Benjamin laughed and ruffled Emma's hair. "Don't worry so much, obediently go and take care of your wounds."

"No need."

Emma brushed away his hand and left the hospital.

After Sebastian dealt with the kidnappers, he had someone send Aria back before rushing to the hospital.

But when he arrived at the door, he saw Emma with an expressionless face.

"Emma, why did you come out? Is your mother okay?"

"It's okay. Thank you, Uncle Robinson. I couldn't have done it without you," Emma said, bowing slightly in gratitude before leaving without looking back.

Sebastian was taken aback and felt that something was missing. He went to Benjamin and learned about what had happened at the hospital.

"Benjamin, you're confused. Do you know what your daughter has done for your family behind your back?

Let me advise you, if you don't open your eyes and see clearly, you'll regret it too late!" he said before leaving in a huff.

It was already late at night.

When Emma came out of the hospital, the family driver immediately greeted her, "Miss, are you going back now?"

"Yes," Emma replied.

Noticing her low spirits, the driver didn't dare to drive too fast and maintained a steady speed all the way.

Feeling the evening breeze, Emma began to feel more clear-headed.

The higher the pedestal, the harder the fall.

Who said Isabella was guaranteed to win?

Emma took a deep breath, and her eyes flickered with a coldness.

This was just the beginning.

With this thought, her mood improved significantly.

Emma rolled down the car window and idly admired the night view. However, when she glanced at the rear view mirror, she noticed a black Maybach following them all the way.

They followed at a constant speed, neither too close nor too far away.

Even the driver was puzzled: "What's wrong with that car? We speed up, it speeds up; we slow down, it slows down..."

Emma was taken aback.

In an instant, an indescribable emotion began to spread in her heart.

That car belonged to Elijah.

In other words, Elijah had been following her since she left the hospital.

Emma was stunned, and her nose suddenly felt sour.

She had always said that she didn't care, that she didn't mind her family's lack of understanding, and that she could handle all the pressure on her own and it was no big deal.

But Elijah's protective gesture in bringing her home made her realize something.

At least... Someone was willing to give her a little warmth.

Emma immediately shouted, "Stop the car!"

The driver was puzzled, but he still pulled over to the side of the road.

The Maybach behind them also stopped.

In the car, Elijah raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.

But he saw the little girl as she opened the door and run towards him directly.
