Chapter 23 - ch-23 peaceful dreams

After a short while, Akg returned to the cabin, carefully balancing a tray full of food he brought from the cafeteria. As he stepped in, he saw the girls still happily playing and laughing with Rena.

With a smile, he called out, "Serena, Chloe, Korrina—food's here! Eat while it's still hot."

Hearing his voice, the girls immediately gathered around the table, excited for the meal. Rena also joined them, sitting comfortably like she belonged. She had become more than just Akg's partner—she was now a close friend of the girls, too.

As they all sat down to eat, the girls couldn't help but notice how close Akg and Rena were. They shared food, glanced at each other warmly, and even ate in sync—almost like a couple. That quiet understanding and bond between them made the girls feel a twinge of jealousy, though they didn't say anything out loud. They simply pouted slightly in silence.

Akg, of course, noticed their subtle reactions. With a playful grin, he looked at Serena and said, "Hey Serena, this chocolate ice cream is really good—want to try it?"

He scooped a spoonful and gently held it out toward her. Serena, caught off guard but flustered, leaned in and took the bite. "Oh wow, it's really tasty!" she said, smiling happily.

Seeing this, both Chloe and Korrina puffed their cheeks.

"Hey! That's not fair, Akg! We want to try it too!" Chloe said.

"Yeah, you're spoiling Serena!" Korrina added.

Akg laughed and fed them both in turn, offering them spoonfuls from his own dessert.

But the moment passed quickly, and all three girls suddenly realized something—they had just eaten from the same spoon he was using. Their eyes widened slightly, and a quiet blush bloomed on each of their faces.

"That's… kinda like an indirect kiss…" Serena whispered, covering her mouth slightly.

The other two nodded in silent agreement, glancing at each other before looking away shyly. The air grew soft and warm, a little more intimate than before. A quiet, ambiguous mood settled in as they all smiled shyly and continued their meal.

After finishing, they cleaned up together and began to prepare for bed. Rena, as usual, curled up on Akg's chest, finding her favorite spot for sleep. The girls watched this and, for some reason, felt a strange tug in their hearts.

Then Serena, hesitating slightly, spoke up. "Akg… I don't feel safe sleeping alone tonight. After what happened with Gyarados, I… I'm still a little scared. Can I sleep with you?"

Akg blinked, then nodded. "Of course. If that makes you feel safer."

Seeing this, Chloe and Korrina exchanged looks, clearly feeling left out.

"We're scared too…" Chloe muttered.

"Yeah, don't forget us!" Korrina added.

Akg gave them a helpless smile, but he understood. "Alright, all of you can sleep here tonight."

The bed was barely big enough for four people, but they made it work. Serena curled up beside him on his left. Chloe nestled into his right side, and Korrina lay just beside her. Rena rested peacefully on Akg's chest, gently rising and falling with his breath.

Akg lay in the middle, feeling warm, flustered, and honestly… a little like he was in heaven.

What he didn't know was that far away, in the godly domain, Mera—the goddess who gave him the system and his beloved wife—was watching everything unfold. Her eyes narrowed slightly, a faint pout forming on her lips as she muttered to herself.

"Hmph… next time you come to me, my dear husband… we're going to have a little talk."

Meanwhile, Akg remained blissfully unaware, closing his eyes with a small smile, surrounded by warmth and trust, slowly drifting into sleep.
