Chapter 8 - ch 8 – The Gift That Hatches

Night had long fallen over Pallet Town, its quiet streets lit only by the silver breath of the moon. Inside a small, tidy room, Alex sat cross-legged on the couch, letting the peace of this new world wash over him.

The scent of fresh wood lingered in the air. A gentle breeze brushed through the curtains. For the first time since his rebirth, his heart felt calm.

But then, something stirred in the back of his mind.

A memory. A voice.

"A little gift, to remind you that you are never alone."

His eyes widened. "Wait—didn't the goddess give me a Pokémon egg?"

He shot upright, pulse quickening. With a flick of his wrist, a faint blue screen shimmered into existence before him. "System, open inventory."

A soft hum filled the room. Then, from the air itself, a gentle light gathered—spinning, swirling, until it solidified into an egg.

It floated down into his hands like a falling star.

Alex froze.

The egg was beautiful—no, divine. Its surface shimmered with color, flowing from emerald to sapphire to gold, each hue shifting like the northern lights. A faint warmth pulsed through it, calm and alive, as though a heartbeat echoed inside.

"This… this isn't like any Pokémon egg I've ever seen in anime," he murmured, his voice hushed with awe.

The system's voice answered softly, almost reverently.

"Master, this egg was born from divine power. I cannot read its origin. But I can tell you this—the being inside is extraordinary."

Alex smiled faintly. "Figures. She never does anything halfway."

He ran his thumb along the shell's smooth surface, his reflection caught in its glow. "So… how do I hatch it?"

"A single drop of your blood will be enough. It will bond to your soul, and hatch at once."

Without hesitation, he pricked his finger with a pin and let a crimson drop fall.

The instant it touched the egg, the world seemed to hold its breath.

Light burst forth—soft, golden, and warm. The egg trembled in his palms, glowing brighter with every heartbeat. Then came the sound—

crack... crack... crack...

Fractures spread across the shell, spilling light like fire through glass.

And then, with a final shiver, the egg shattered.

From within the burst of radiance, a tiny form emerged—small, graceful, and impossibly pure.

Alex's eyes widened.

A Ralts.

Her white body gleamed like moonlit snow, her green hair glowed faintly, and the small ruby horn on her head pulsed with gentle light. For a moment, she floated in the air before softly landing in his lap.

She blinked her large, ruby eyes open. When they met his, something wordless passed between them—trust, warmth, belonging. Then she smiled, a soft, childlike expression that melted his heart, and reached out with trembling arms to hug his leg.

Alex froze, breath catching. Then he laughed quietly, his voice trembling with emotion. "Hey there… so you're mine, huh?"

The Ralts chirped softly and nestled against his chest when he picked her up. Her tiny heartbeat fluttered against his palm.

He held her close, eyes closing, warmth spreading through him. "Thank you," he whispered, voice barely audible. "You really do know me, don't you… my goddess."

Far above the mortal realm, in a palace woven from starlight and silence, the Goddess watched.

Her long silver hair cascaded over her shoulders like flowing water. Through a shimmering mirror of light, she gazed down upon the boy who held her gift with such tenderness.

A faint smile touched her lips. "So gentle," she murmured, her voice like a song carried by wind. "You've already begun to change this world, little one."

Her fingers brushed against the air, and a thin thread of light drifted downward—fading into the night sky over Pallet Town.

It touched Alex's shoulder, vanishing as warmth against his skin.

And in that fleeting moment, he felt it—

a soft, loving presence watching over him.
