Chapter 74 - Chapter 72: Rescue Chaos

The forest stretched endlessly around Aiden, moonlight glinting off leaves, the faint hum of distant wildlife completely drowned out by the thunder of his heartbeat. Every muscle was taut, every instinct screaming. He could feel them—his children—tiny vibrations of fear and life, pulsing like a drum through the night air.

Keal's whine, Ryn's bark-tinged yelp, Lior's frantic squeak—they called to him across the distance, and nothing else mattered.

Theron followed silently, massive and patient, his amber eyes scanning the shadows. He knew Aiden was operating on instinct alone, and even gods had to respect that fury. But he also knew how dangerous it could get if Aiden lost himself entirely.

"You need me," Theron said, voice low, almost a growl. "You cannot do this alone."

Aiden's ears twitched, partially wolf, partially human, eyes blazing. "I don't need anyone!"

"Yes, you do," Theron countered calmly, tail flicking, the faint glow of his god-power hovering around him. "You're not weak—but even gods can't watch your back if you overextend. Let me guide you."

Aiden's claws scraped the earth, leaving shallow gouges in the dirt. "My children!" His growl rolled through the trees, low, dangerous, a sound that made birds scatter and even shadows recoil.

The faint aura of moon-god energy flared subtly around him, Theron holding it just enough so it didn't burn the forest, just sharpened every sense, every reflex. Aiden surged forward, tracking the faintest traces—scent, heartbeat, instinct.

Evelyn's hideout was small, fortified with wards and locks she thought clever. She didn't account for one thing: an omega parent's instinct magnified by fated fury.

Aiden arrived at the edge of the clearing, eyes narrowing. There, in the moonlight, he saw them. The babies—huddled, frightened, amber eyes glowing faintly as if calling him. And Evelyn—smug, thinking she could control the situation.

Aiden didn't hesitate. He shifted almost fully, wolf ears high, tail bristling, muscles rippling. He moved like shadow and storm combined, silent and fast, until he was only a heartbeat away.

Keal squeaked, tail flicking, instinctively curling closer to his siblings. Ryn let out a small growl. Lior yelped, tiny claws scraping the floor instinctively. Even in their human bodies, they responded to their father's presence.

Aiden lunged, his voice a guttural snarl that shook the leaves. Evelyn froze, eyes wide. "What—what—"

Before she could react, Theron appeared behind her, massive, unflinching, energy flaring subtly. His tail wagged—not playful, not calm, but warning. A soft, powerful hum of authority radiated from him, pressing against Evelyn's wards, destabilizing them without breaking the babies' safety.

Aiden's claws caught a strap on her arm, and she yelped, stumbling backward. His eyes blazed blue, wolf instincts fully awake. "Hands off my children!"

The pups shrieked, but Aiden didn't falter. He scooped Keal first, careful despite his fury. Ryn leapt almost instinctively into his other arm. Lior squirmed, tiny whines echoing, and he tucked him safely against his chest.

Theron's amber eyes met Aiden's. Slow down, protect them—let me handle her.

Aiden growled low, barely controlling himself. Evelyn was scrambling, shouting, trying to keep control—but nothing could match his raw instinct, his sheer drive. Every fiber of his being screamed: They are mine. No one touches them.

Theron stepped in, hand firm on Evelyn's shoulder, voice calm but deadly. "You're out of your depth. Step aside."

Evelyn spun, glaring, but the subtle press of divine power held her in place—just enough for Aiden to retreat with the pups, still low to the ground, still growling, still shaking from adrenaline.

Aiden burst through the forest, heart hammering, tail flicking, wolf ears flattened forward in sheer ferocity. The babies reacted instinctively—tiny hands gripping fur, tails flicking, ears twitching with excitement and fear. Even their human forms betrayed wolfish awareness: they followed his lead, no instruction needed.

Theron followed silently behind, guiding, correcting, letting Aiden's instincts run rampant while keeping him from burning the forest to ash.

By the time they reached the den, Aiden's chest heaved, arms trembling, babies tucked close. Keal huffed, Ryn yipped, Lior squeaked—all responding to the safety and strength of home, the presence of their parents.

Aiden sank onto the furs, heart still pounding. He buried his face in Keal's soft hair, breathing in the tiny scent, listening to the fragile, perfect rhythms of three small lives.

Theron settled beside him, tail brushing gently across his leg. "You did it," he said softly. "You protected them."

Aiden's lips pressed against Keal's head. "I… I can't… no one touches them… not ever."

Theron's hand rested lightly on Aiden's shoulder. "And they never will. Not while we're here."

The pups, sensing the calm after the storm, huffed and nuzzled, tiny tails flicking in a synchronized rhythm. Even in their human bodies, they were connected to the wolf, to the instinct, to the bond that made them family.

Evelyn… she had pushed them too far. And she would learn, painfully, that nothing—not cunning, not magic, not past familiarity—could stand against a parent's fury.

Aiden finally exhaled, still trembling, still vibrating with adrenaline, but victorious. "They're safe," he whispered, voice hoarse. "All three of them… safe."

Theron leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to his temple. "And we'll make sure it stays that way. Always."

Aiden let himself relax—just a fraction—because for now, the instinct that had nearly consumed him could finally settle. The babies were safe, the pack intact, and the fury… would wait until the next challenge.

The clearing smelled of burnt leaves and raw tension. Evelyn was on the ground, wide-eyed, realizing far too late that she had triggered something far beyond her reckoning. Her hands trembled, wards flickering and failing under the sheer pressure of power around her.

Theron loomed above her, eyes glowing amber like molten fire. His white hair rippled with an unseen energy, tail bristling, wolf ears fully visible now, his presence radiating a godly fury that made the air itself quake.

"You…" Theron's voice was calm at first, impossibly low, but every word carried weight like a hammer striking stone. "You dare touch them? Touch my mate's children?"

Evelyn stammered, trying to scramble backward, but the wards were gone, the earth beneath her trembling subtly, as if the forest itself recognized the predator she had awakened.

Aiden appeared at the edge of the clearing, heart hammering, blue eyes blazing, partially shifted, wolf ears high, tail flicking, instincts in overdrive. He carried Keal in one arm, Ryn clinging to his chest, Lior nestled against him.

"No, Theron!" Aiden barked, voice cracking with fear and fury. "Stop!"

Theron's gaze snapped toward him, amber eyes flashing with godly heat. "Aiden… she took them! She—"

"I know! I know! But don't! You can't! Not like this!" Aiden stepped forward, small but unyielding, instincts flaring, body tense. "I'll protect them! I'll—"

Theron's hand flared with energy, a subtle pulse that could've leveled the clearing if fully unleashed. The air shimmered, charged with raw power. Evelyn's body tensed as if every molecule knew it might be the last moment she would breathe.

Aiden's heart pounded. His hands tightened around the babies instinctively, pulling them closer. He stepped up, eyes locking on Theron's. "No. You don't get to become the villain."

Theron froze, amber gaze meeting Aiden's, tail stiff, ears twitching with suppressed fury. His hands still glowed faintly, fingers trembling, hovering over Evelyn like a blade.

Aiden's chest rose and fell rapidly. His lips pressed firmly to Theron's, fierce and grounding, forcing the moon-god to pause, to feel, to remember. The kiss carried urgency, command, and something softer beneath it: not here. Not now. Not like this.

Theron's amber eyes flickered—anger, fire, instinct—but the kiss anchored him, just barely. His hands dropped slightly, energy dimming, tail still flicking but slower, ears lowering fractionally. The primal storm in him didn't vanish, but it was tethered.

Aiden pulled back slightly, panting, eyes still locked. "I will not let you… not now, not ever. They're ours. Not yours to punish, not yours to destroy."

Theron exhaled, jaw tight, amber eyes dimming but still blazing faintly. He pressed a brief kiss to Aiden's temple, almost gentle. "I… I lost control," he admitted, voice low, almost a growl. "They… you… they're mine too."

Aiden swallowed, heart hammering. "And they're mine first. Always mine. But… I trust you to protect them. Not… kill."

Theron's lips twitched faintly, a shadow of a smile, tail giving a subtle flick. "I… understand. You anchor me. Always."

Evelyn, pale and shaken, scrambled backward, realizing her power—or cleverness—was meaningless here. The omega's instinct, the alpha king's wrath, and the fated bond between Aiden and Theron were forces she could never overcome.

Aiden's hands tightened protectively around the babies. "Let's go home," he whispered.

Theron nodded, amber eyes sweeping over Evelyn, the faintest edge of divine wrath still simmering, but fully controlled—for now. "Home," he agreed.

Together, they stepped forward, babies safe in Aiden's arms, instincts simmering, hearts connected, knowing that the line between protection and destruction had been tested… and survived.

Theron turn half around, Lior nestle into his chest in one arm, he let out his power, and Evelyn body fell over.

dead.

"you coming?" Aiden call out, a already forward.

"yeah, i'm comming" Theron said, quckly walking up to his mate side, his free hand wrapping around Aiden waist.
