Chapter 7 - Occamy

At that moment, Newt and the others remembered that Narlak was still there.

"Thanks for your help, I think we should go," Tina said, looking at the Goblin who had suddenly started laughing, feeling that something bad was about to happen.

"The Aurors are here!" a house-elf, who was moving wine crates at the bar's entrance, suddenly shrieked, immediately dropping the crates and blurring out of existence before Apparating away.

The bar's patrons were startled; after all, birds of a feather flock together, and the wizards gathered in that bar were not good people. Tina had even told Newt that she had arrested most of them when she was an Auror.

They immediately panicked, dropping their mugs and cards, wanting to Apparate away.

At that moment, the air shifted, and some wizards arrived: the Aurors who had received the tip-off.

It turned out that Narlak had a plan to gain benefits twice: first, selling information to Newt, and then seizing the opportunity to inform the Aurors and get another reward.

Some wizards who reacted quickly and were lucky had already fled far away, while others, in their panic, were about to cast Apparate when they were immobilized by the Aurors' spells and captured.

"Run!" As a former Auror, Tina knew well that they had no chance against a group of Aurors; escaping amidst the chaos was the most important thing now.

The No-Maj Jacob took advantage of the chaos to punch Narlak on his large head, and the snitching Goblin immediately fainted.

"Do you mind if I come with you?" August was standing beside them.

Tina and the others wasted no words; they grabbed August and Jacob, twisted their bodies, and left just as the Aurors approached.

---

"That was close!" Jacob had already experienced magical travel several times, and each time he felt dizzy and wanted to vomit.

"Thank you!" Newt was very grateful for August's timely help, although Pickett was now sulking with him, and he didn't know how to make amends.

"You're welcome. That Goblin seemed very annoyed, and I'm glad to annoy him," August said, waving him off.

"Anyway, I still have to thank you," Newt thanked him again.

"Speaking of which, I'm curious. If I hadn't stopped you just now, what would you have done next?" August asked curiously. "I mean, about your pet."

"Pickett isn't my pet, he's my friend," Newt first corrected August's words, then replied: "Of course, I would find a way to get Pickett back."

"Shouldn't you be more careful? Is it appropriate to say that in front of an Auror?" Tina joined the conversation at that moment.

"An ex-Auror!" Tina's sister, Queenie, said, laughing.

"Hey, everyone stop talking for a moment and look at this!" At that moment, the No-Maj Jacob called them, pointing at a display window in the department store.

They immediately rushed over and saw a lady's handbag slowly sliding from the shoulder of a plastic model, as if an invisible hand were guiding it.

"It's a Demiguise!" Newt said happily; that was his goal in seeking Narlak.

"Come on, follow it."

The group followed the strangely floating handbag through the department store, observing an invisible hand placing various foods into it.

"What's it doing?" Jacob asked, a little confused.

"I'm not sure, but Demiguises are usually docile. However, if you pressure them too much, they might bite you. Anyway, let's follow it first." Newt followed the Demiguise, which strangely ignored the stalking group behind it.

"Of course, even a cornered rabbit bites," Jacob mused. His experiences of the last two days had been so fantastical that he kept wondering if he was dreaming or if the effects of the Murtlap bite had not yet worn off.

"Demiguises can perceive probable events, which means these magical creatures have the ability to foresee the future." As they climbed the stairs, Newt continued to educate them, demonstrating his genuine affection for magical creatures.

The group thus reached the department store's attic, where some inventory items were stored.

"I know what he's here for: he's feeding a baby!"

August and the others witnessed a shocking scene: a barrel-thick, snake-like creature was coiled on the attic ceiling, filling the entire upper floor.

"I was wrong, I thought they were all there; it seems I missed one," Newt said, his face filled with joy and showing no fear at the sight of the terrifying giant beast.

"Newt, what is that?" Tina asked, her voice slightly trembling, clearly a little scared.

Queenie also nervously moved closer to Jacob, who was initially frightened but then seemed to enjoy it.

"Don't be afraid, this is still a baby Occamy," Newt reassured them. "Occamies change size according to the available space."

The large serpent revealed its bird-like head from the shadows, with a pair of wings on its body and blue feathers everywhere: the name Occamy really suited it.

Newt grabbed a piece of food from the Demiguise's bag and offered it to the Occamy: "Don't be afraid, Mom is here."

Newt gently calmed the animal, which seemed nervous about the sudden appearance of so many people. He wanted to return the baby Occamy to its case once it had calmed down.

At that moment, the Demiguise's eyes suddenly glowed blue, as if it had seen something, and it jumped onto Jacob's shoulder without looking back.

"Watch out!" Tina warned, but it was too late.

Queenie's foot had already touched a bell on the floor, and a clear sound resonated in the space.

The Occamy instantly tensed, raised its head, and roared.

Newt knew that calming it was useless; he had to use a more forceful method. As quickly as he could, he jumped onto the Occamy's head, guiding it so it wouldn't attack August and the others.

"Quick, find a bug! I also need a teapot!"

August reacted more quickly. He had already seen a cockroach scurrying across the floor, and a somewhat humorous thought popped into his mind: "How unlucky you are to appear here! It's you!"

He reached out, not caring if the cockroach was dirty: "Accio, Cockroach!"

The unfortunate cockroach immediately flew into his hand, struggling violently. August lifted it and swung it in front of the Occamy's eyes.

The giant serpent, somewhat agitated, immediately calmed down and stared unblinkingly at the cockroach still kicking in his hand.

"Quick! The teapot!" Newt whispered.

Tina had already found the teapot and was holding it high.

August, without waiting for Newt's reminder, immediately aimed the cockroach toward the teapot and tossed it. The Occamy immediately shrugged Newt off its head, circling on the ceiling, its enormous head approaching the teapot.

Clink!

The cockroach landed in the teapot. The Occamy showed no intention of stopping; its body suddenly shrunk as it chased the cockroach into the teapot. August, who was prepared, immediately capped the teapot, trapping the Occamy.

"Are all the animals in your Wizarding World that scary?" Jacob asked, smoothing his hair with a trembling hand, still shaken.

"They're not dangerous, you just don't know the correct way to interact with them," Newt argued, but then, seeing the others' expressions, he admitted: "Alright, there's a certain degree of danger."

The group continued to Apparate to Tina's house.

They arrived at Newt's suitcase, which looked like a normal briefcase but actually concealed an entire ecosystem inside.

Newt was still trying to convince Pickett the Bowtruckle, but the small creature remained sulking and didn't give Newt a good look, leaving him with no way to mend their relationship.

"What wonderful creatures!" August exclaimed, observing the magical biodiversity inside the case, filled with admiration for this world's unique creatures.
