The Next Three Days
The next three days went by without much happening at all.
The roster for Min-Jae's special team was decided. With Min-Jae and Han Semi being the only two above B-Rank, a total of six more members—all C-Rank—filled out the team.
Those C-Ranks were probably lucky. They'd get paid for doing essentially nothing. At least, that's what Choi Jong-In, the guild master, thought while assigning the six of them to Min-Jae's special team.
Meanwhile, Sung Jin-Woo created his own guild, named Ahjin Guild. Because Min-Jae knew the name of Sung Jin-Woo's sister, he could pretty much understand the reason for the name. It was just his sister's name backwards—Jin-Ah, Ahjin.
But the question was how they'd do the raids. Even though Sung Jin-Woo had his shadow soldiers and could surely clear any rank gate easily solo, the headcount was a compulsory rule for everyone. A minimum number of hunters was needed for a team to gain a raid permit.
But in any case, for Min-Jae, life was very comfortable at the moment. Being an S-Rank hunter in this world came with a lot of perks.
---
Min-Jae woke up around 7 AM, the morning sunlight filtering through the curtains of his room. He sat up, stretched, and ran a hand through his white and black hair before getting out of bed.
After changing into a simple black tracksuit, he stepped outside for his morning jog. The air was crisp and cool, the streets still relatively quiet. He ran through the neighborhood at a steady pace, not pushing himself too hard—just enough to wake up his body and clear his mind.
About thirty minutes later, he returned home, slightly out of breath because the speed that he jogged at , but feeling refreshed. After a quick shower, he changed into casual clothes and headed downstairs.
Cha Hae-In was already at the dining table, dressed in her work attire, eating breakfast.
"Morning," Min-Jae said, sitting down across from her.
"Morning," she replied, glancing up briefly before returning her attention to her plate. "You went for a run?"
"Yeah. Needed to move a bit."
"Good habit." She took a sip of her tea. "I have a raid today. A-Rank gate with the main team."
"Sounds fun."
"It should be straightforward." She paused. "What about you? When's your first raid with the new team?"
"Tomorrow. Assuming it doesn't get postponed again."
She nodded, finishing the last of her meal. "Well, good luck with that. Try not to let the C-Ranks just stand around the entire time."
"That's kind of the plan though."
She rolled her eyes but smiled slightly as she stood up, picking up her plate and bringing it to the sink. "I'm heading out. See you tonight."
"Stay safe."
"Always."
With that, she grabbed her bag and left through the front door.
Min-Jae sat there for a moment, finishing his own breakfast in silence. Once done, he leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.
'What should I do today?'
The raid was postponed. He had no plans. No obligations.
Then he remembered Han Semi.
He pulled out his phone and called her.
It rang twice before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey. It's Min-Jae."
"Oh, hi. What's up?"
"Not much. Just finished breakfast. You doing anything today?"
There was a brief pause on the other end. "Not really. Why?"
"Let's go out."
Another pause, this one longer. "Go out? Like... where?"
"I don't know. Anywhere. I'm getting bored. The raid got postponed, and I don't have anything else to do. Plus, I don't have anyone else to hang out with."
She laughed softly. "Wow. That's probably the most honest invitation I've ever gotten."
"So is that a yes?"
"Yeah, okay. Sure. Where do you want to meet?"
"I'll pick you up. Be ready in about twenty minutes?"
"Alright. See you then."
He hung up, stood up, and headed back upstairs to get ready.
---
Min-Jae changed into a simple white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, paired with dark blue jeans and white sneakers. He threw on a black leather jacket over it and checked himself in the mirror briefly, and before heading out wore a Black sunglass and cap just to keep his identity as much secret as much possible in public
Twenty minutes later, he pulled up in front of Han Semi's apartment complex. He sent her a quick text letting her know he was outside.
A few moments later, she walked out.
Her wavy pink hair caught the sunlight as she approached, falling just past her shoulders in soft, natural waves. Her bright purple eyes stood out against her fair complexion, giving her an almost ethereal look. She wore a simple white blouse tucked into light-wash jeans, paired with white sneakers. The outfit was casual and effortless, but she looked naturally beautiful in it—fresh and unpretentious.
She opened the passenger door and slid in, smiling. "Hey."
"Hey," Min-Jae replied, starting the car. "You look nice."
"Thanks. You too." She buckled her seatbelt. "So where are we going?"
"I was going to let you choose."
She thought for a moment, tapping her fingers lightly on her knee. "Hmm... I don't know. Movie?"
"Okay. Movie it is."
They drove to a nearby cinema, chatting casually along the way about nothing in particular—just easy conversation that filled the silence comfortably.
When they arrived, they looked at the listings. After a bit of back and forth, they settled on a romantic comedy that had just come out.
They bought tickets, grabbed some popcorn, and settled into their seats as the previews began.
---
About two hours later, they walked out of the theater, blinking in the bright afternoon sunlight.
"So," Min-Jae said as they headed toward the car, "what'd you think?"
"It was okay," Han Semi said with a slight shrug. "Not bad, but not amazing either."
"Yeah. I'd say the same. It had its moments."
"The ending was a bit predictable."
"Agreed."
They reached the car, and Min-Jae unlocked it. As they got in, he glanced at her. "Where to next?"
She looked at him. "You decide this time."
He thought for a moment, then started the car. "Alright. I know a place."
---
About thirty minutes later, they pulled up to a large theme park on the outskirts of the city.
Han Semi looked at the colorful entrance and the towering roller coasters in the distance. "This is the place you chose?"
Min-Jae rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly sheepish. "Well, I don't really know where people go to have fun. I'm a bit boring, you know."
She laughed. "You're an S-Rank hunter who can fly and erase things from existence, and you think you're boring?"
"In terms of social activities, yeah."
"Fair enough. Let's go then."
They bought tickets and headed inside.
The theme park was lively—families, couples, groups of friends all enjoying the rides and attractions. The smell of popcorn and fried food filled the air, mixed with the distant screams of thrill-seekers on the roller coasters.
They started with the roller coaster. Han Semi hesitated at first, but Min-Jae convinced her. The ride was intense—sharp drops, fast turns, and loops that left them both breathless and laughing by the end.
After that, they wandered through the park, trying different attractions. They played a few carnival games—Min-Jae won a stuffed bear at a ring toss and handed it to Han Semi, who accepted it with an amused smile. They rode the Ferris wheel, which gave them a quiet moment to look out over the city from the top. They even tried the bumper cars, where Han Semi proved surprisingly competitive, ramming into Min-Jae's car repeatedly while laughing.
By the time they were done, a few hours had passed, and both of them were tired but in good spirits.
"Hungry?" Min-Jae asked as they walked toward the exit.
"Starving," Han Semi admitted.
"You pick the place this time."
She thought for a moment, then nodded. "I know a good restaurant. It's not too far from here."
"Lead the way."
They got back in the car, and Han Semi gave him directions. As they drove, the conversation flowed easily—about the rides, about random observations, about nothing and everything.
It felt natural. Comfortable.
For the first time in a while, Min-Jae felt like he was just... living.
The place she she choose was a bit crowded, as they decided to go somewhere else instead.
