The golden halo enveloped Jiang Wuyue.
In that very instant, a piercing dragon's roar erupted from his mouth, his sturdy body straightening up like a drawn bowstring.
The dark black armor-like scales on his body turned to a deep, lustrous dark gold. All feelings of submission and fear vanished completely, replaced by an overwhelming surge of euphoria.
Right now, Jiang Wuyue felt like his blood was boiling, his soul power multiplying at an exponential rate. He had never experienced such overwhelming strength before—there was a wild, exhilarating feeling that made him want to tear heaven and earth apart.
"Roar! Roar! Roar—!" He let out a series of thunderous bellows as his dark-gold aura intensified, wrapping his entire being in a metallic radiance. Even the six soul rings around him glowed faintly with a golden hue.
Glancing at his own body, he noticed that the normally rugged Tyrannosaurus-like scales had subtly shifted—now more symmetrical and shaped like diamonds. The sheen on them had also become more refined. But what thrilled him the most was the surging strength erupting from every fiber of his being. Even if a Ba'an appeared before him right now, he felt confident he could tear it apart.
Jiang Wuyue's sudden surge was due to the compatibility between his Tyrant Dragon bloodline and the Golden Dragon King's bloodline. Just that moment of exposure had elevated his strength by at least fifty percent.
To go from suppression to empowerment in such a dramatic swing—it was no wonder he was so overwhelmed.
As the golden halo dissipated, Gu You turned to him and said, "That's enough for now, sir."
With the light vanishing, the enhanced strength evaporated too. Jiang Wuyue's scales returned to their usual color, and the pressure in his body subsided. However, the pain from earlier combat had been entirely erased thanks to the halo's residual effect.
"You... what kind of ability was that? How did it make me feel so much stronger?" Jiang Wuyue stared at Gu You, eyes burning with curiosity. At this point, he'd completely forgotten that Gu You was once his love rival. As a warrior of the Blood God Legion, he revered power—and Gu You had just displayed it in spades.
Gu You smiled faintly. "Maybe it's because our bloodlines share a common origin. That might be the reason." Of course, he wasn't about to summon Ji Ji Ba right now—this room simply couldn't contain that monster.
From what he could tell, Ji Ji Ba had likely surpassed a hundred meters in height by now.
"A shared origin? Then what's your martial soul?" Jiang Wuyue asked with a frown.
"It's not related to the martial soul," Gu You said calmly. "It's purely a bloodline effect."
"That last ability... how long can it last?" Jiang Wuyue pressed.
Gu You replied, "A few months is no problem."
Jiang Wuyue's eyes lit up instantly. A few months?! That sensation just now—he'd felt like a god. Combined with Gu You's astonishing combat prowess, Jiang Wuyue suddenly saw Gu You in a completely different light.
Noticing Jiang Wuyue's burning gaze, Gu You shifted uncomfortably. "Sir, about that one thousand contribution points..."
"Right, right—I'll send them now!" Jiang Wuyue beamed, slinging an arm over Gu You's shoulder. He raised his Blood God Ring and transferred 1,000 points to Gu You without hesitation.
"Brother, everything earlier was just a misunderstanding. You said you've already got someone you like, right?" Jiang Wuyue asked with a grin.
Gu You couldn't exactly admit he'd lied, so he nodded. "Yeah. We're really close."
"Then it's all a big misunderstanding! Look, I think the Special Operations Division isn't a good fit for you. Why don't you come join me in the combat division? With your skills, you'll rack up merits in no time. If you join my Iron-Blood First Battalion, I'll make sure the whole team backs you up. I guarantee, within a year, you'll be promoted to lieutenant and serve as my vice-captain. What do you say? In fact, if you join right now, I'll assign you as the squad leader of a frontline unit. I don't care if your rank's a bit low. In our battalion, strength is everything. You beat me—who's going to argue?"
One year to become vice-captain? That's not far from major… Gu You was a little tempted.
Just then, the door to the combat chamber swung open and two people walked in.
"Jiang Wuyue, are you seriously trying to steal my people?" The voice wasn't Jiang Qiyue's—it was Long Yuxue, who had just rushed over.
Qiyue had seen the two preparing to duel earlier and had quickly called Long Yuxue. She still felt grateful to Gu You for not devouring her entire meal credit that day.
But what Long Yuxue saw when she arrived was Jiang Wuyue cozying up to Gu You, clearly trying to lure him away with promises.
Seeing her, Jiang Wuyue instantly wilted. He grinned sheepishly. "Yuxue, it's not what it looks like! I'm just saying, with skills like his, he'd be wasted anywhere but the frontline."
Long Yuxue snorted coldly. "Offering positions in private? I'm reporting this to Commander Xu. You won't walk away unscathed. Besides, Gu You just got here—he doesn't even know the layout of the camp yet. We need people like him in the Special Ops. At the very least, he won't be transferred. He'll be far more useful with us. If you want him, you'll have to get through me first."
Anyone else might've thrown down right there, but Jiang Wuyue could only raise his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright, I surrender. I won't poach him."
Long Yuxue pulled Gu You out from under Jiang Wuyue's arm. "We're leaving."
As they walked away, Jiang Qiyue stood watching with a strange expression in her eyes. Only when the two had vanished did she turn to her brother and ask, "Ge, was his strength really that scary? You didn't even look like you could fight back."
Jiang Wuyue scratched his head, still looking troubled. "I don't know what happened. His aura just naturally suppressed mine. We didn't really go all-out. If I used my battle armor, maybe I'd stand a chance. But I don't think he was even serious. I couldn't be sure I'd win. Do you know how old he is?"
"Eighteen, I think? I heard Sister Yuxue mention it once," Jiang Qiyue replied.
Jiang Wuyue's expression grew more twisted. Eighteen… and already this terrifying? Even in the Blood God Legion, where geniuses abound, he's clearly in another league…
