Chapter 26 - Infiltration (IV) - Quarrel

The Teddy Emperor and Captain Teddy paced down the corridors, past the stasis chambers. Neither the Teddy Emperor nor Captain Teddy were speaking. Captain Teddy had to walk rather quickly, almost jogging to keep up with Lukas' casual walking speed.

"Could you…" She wanted to ask him to slow down, but her pride did not allow her to admit she was slower than he was.

Lukas glanced at her with a greedy eyes before lowering his gaze down to her feet. A sigh escaped his lips and he slowed down. He thought for a moment, "Yes, I should find something to wear. You should not have the privilege to look at my nude form." A prideful grin spread across his lips.

"Sure."

The two of them walked for multiple hours before finally finding the exit to the stasis maze. It was a small door, about double the size of Captain Teddy or about a third the size of Lukas. But since it was a perfect square with rounded corners, he could just crawl through without resistance.

But before that, the two of them have to figure out the pin. Lukas sat down in front of the keyboard and started to think. His mind raced.

A loud bang sounded next to him and he jumped to the side, startled. Captain Teddy had punched the door, bending it far enough so she was able to rip it out of the wall. She walked through, relaxed. "I think I figured out the code." She muttered.

Lukas went into a crawling position and crawled after her before standing up again, stretching his arms above his head and yawning. "Could we take a break? I am very tired. You may have infinite stamina as a plushy, but I'm a human, you know!" Lukas back was bent forward. "I was really happy about the door needing a code to open, while I knew the code already, I wanted to use the door to relax a little bit but you just destroyed it. You're very self-centered, not thinking about the company walking with you."

"Self-centered?" She stopped abruptly. Lukas had hurt her feelings with that word. She was a Teddy, she was supposed to be the least self-centred out of all the clones and copies in this universe. "I'm not self-centered…" She muttered with a sad tone.

Lukas kept walking for a moment until he passed her. "Yes. It seems you are."

"No! I'm not!" She said louder, sad and angry.

He sighed, "If you say so." He glanced back at her. "Could we continue now? This is a bad spot to take a break or insult each other. He then continued walking.

Her hand started to tremble and she stomped her little foot angrily onto the ground. It did not make a loud sound, as she was made from cotton. "You're so mean!" She said. Tears started to form in her eyes and she looked at the ground.

"Keep walking!" Lukas shouted, he pretended not to have heard her and was already two and a half dozen metres in front of her. He stopped at a corner, glancing around it. As Captain Teddy hurried after him, he noticed a few guards walking through the halls. He stopped Captain Teddy who almost shot past him and right into the guards sight by grabbing her and lifting her. "Shush! Guards."

"Stop touching me, you meanie!" She whispered and hit his chest with her soft cotton hands. "Let me down!"

"Okay, relax." He whispered back and put her down behind himself. "Now be quiet, yes?" He patted her head.

"No!" She said angrily. "You said I was self-centered! You hurt my feelings." And Lukas turned to face her and crouched down to look into her eyes. Their eyes met and she got even angrier as she noticed his unbothered expression, as if he did not care about her feelings.

"You did not think about your companion, even though you know I am human. You barely talked to me to answer questions I had and if you answered, you did it with a tone as if you were bothered by me and annoyed." He told her and stopped her from answering by lifting his hand, "I am the last survivor of my citadel and I told that to you. I told you I was alone for over a year and you're the second ever person I meet. But instead of showing empathy, you were annoyed about my happiness. So let me say this again! You are a self-centered little bear who only cares about her own feelings." His expression had gotten angry as she told her these words. "So either deal with this fact or be nicer and let us take a break somewhere safe, yes?"

"I did not mean to…"

"I don't care if you meant to be like this, because you were and still are like this. You got angry because I told you this and instead of reflecting and apologizing, you insulted me and demanded an apology from me. I am not in the wrong. You are." He glanced around the corner again. The guards were leaving the hall which he was glancing down at and entered another room. Lukas hurried down the hall and past the room, trying to not be noticed by the guards in the room. But he was too big to be sneaky in a plushy citadel.

"Intruder!" They yelled. Weapons in their hands, they ran after Lukas. Shooting at him and throwing spears at him.

Captain Teddy was still standing at the corner, dazed by Lukas' words. She saw him running away with guards behind him and shooting at him. She noticed a little note stuck on her head, which he had put onto her head while patting her. It was a hand drawn map, marking her position. It had a path colored in which she had to follow.

She decided to listen to his map as a little apology for being mean to him. And it was not far until she found an open shield into space with an invisible spaceship. "He wants me to wait here?" She glanced into the spaceship and climbed inside. "Oh…" It was made for plushies, he would not fit into the spaceship and it had only one seat.
