Captain Teddy was sitting in the council room, her legs resting atop the table. Next to her, sharing the chair with her, sat another Teddy. The two of them were waiting for a few others to clean up the mess Captain Teddy had made.
"How long do you think this is going to take?" A council member asked, "And why are you just sitting there? You made this mess, so help clean this up!" His gaze was fixed on Captain Teddy as well as the council member who had provoked her into destroying their weapons.
"Shut—"
Suddenly, a loud explosion sounded and the room shook. The council members all held onto the new table or their chairs. Only Captain Teddy and the lone Geddos made no effort to hold onto something and promptly fell onto the ground. Their small bodies were thrown across the room.
"What was that?" The clean up crew asked, scared out of their boots.
The council members sighed, "It seems like the rescue mission isn't going well." Once his voice reached Captain Teddy's ears, her console sounded a quiet alarm and gave her access to the security cameras in the lower floors. "What was that alarm?"
Captain Teddy was trembling due to her anger: "Why in my name did you leave these things alive in your citadel?" The entire council went silent upon hearing her voice, "And connected them with my citadel?"
"Don't pretend like only this one citadel has an undead problem! Every citadel has one." He threw his hands into the air in anger before pointing at the council members who represented other citadels.
"Mine doesn't." She scolded, "Because, unlike you self-important assholes, I took care of that problem before anyone ever knew about them." After standing up again, she climbed onto the table in the middle of the room. Her gaze shifted across the members of the council and she furrowed her brow at the sight of such a pathetic excuse of leaders. "See this?" From the console on her hand extended a 3 dimensional hologram to display what is happening downstairs in the lower floors, "How would a rescue squad do this?" Nobody answered. Instead, she decided to rewind.
"This…" They muttered in unison.
One spoke up, defensively: "We thought there were simple undead on the lower floors, but… How could we have known there were so many dog-like undead as well as a queen who controlled them?" He averted his eyes from the hologram, looking at Captain Teddy, expecting an answer.
Captain Teddy ignored them as she accelerated the speed at which the video was playing. "Is this the rescue squad?" She asked.
"No, this is A24, the person they were supposed to rescue."
"Okay." She muttered and kept going forward. Until she saw a group of people walk in. "But this has to be!" The others looked confused, "What?"
"That is only half of them. Only those who were part of A24's crew are in this video, it seems. Shit!" One said and clenched his fists. He fell back into his chair and massaged the bridge of his nose with closed eyes. "They killed our men…"
"The queen is moving, be quiet." Another council member said.
Everybody in the council room went dead silent. In front of them was playing out the scene from just a few minutes prior( chapter 28 for those too stupid to remember, god, I hate people). After they saw the queen shoot out into space and suffocate they noticed an orb forming at the spot the boy had died at. It floated half a metre over the ground and slowly moved towards the hole in the wall towards space.
"That is live-footage, right?"
"Yes?" Captain Teddy asked.
Instantly, the Geddos jumped up from the ground and hurried down the hallway and into the elevator. After a moment of confusion, a few other council members hurried downstairs as well. They did not know why, but if the most rational council member hurries down, it has to be for a good reason.
Captain Teddy and the other Teddy copy remained alone. They had no idea what was going on: "I think we should go after them."
Captain Teddy glanced at her. "Then go." She told her before turning back towards the hologram. Behind her, the Teddy copy hurried downstairs. She kept her eyes focused on the orb as it slowly moved out of the hole and into space. She desperately wanted to know what that orb was, but was sure that she could not reach the orb before it was too far away.
Which is why she was so surprised to see Geddos run straight into the vacuum of space. He had no rope or anything to pull him back into the citadel. He grabbed the orb as he floated into space. For a short amount of time, Captain Teddy thought that he would be lost and waited for someone with a small space-ship to pick him up.
Instead, he had calculated his trajectory and landed on the burned corpse of the creature and used it to propel himself back through the hole and back into the citadel. During his landing, he activated a shield to close the hole and air was pumped back into the room.
"Impressive…" Captain Teddy muttered, "I should go down as well." With the hologram deactivated, she started her journey down — her tiny feet making cute tapping noises as she hurried.
