As the teacher walked through the door she scanned the room with her eyes, "it seems we have a full class of 30 students". There was about 30 students in the class room from as young as 5 to as old as 11 or so it seemed to Wu Zhi.
"Right lets start with the very basics of cultivation. Can anyone tell me why we cultivate". A couple of students raised their hands. "You!" she said as she pointed to someone in the back of the class.
"Yes! we cultivate to understand the heaves and the way of the world".
"Ok, any other answers".
"You" she said as she casually pointed at someone else.
"We cultivate to grow stronger" a little girl said.
"That's right any other answers".
"We cultivate for our own personal enjoyment and status" a boy answered after he was called.
"Alright that's about enough, the point is, the reasons why we cultivate are entirely dependent on the person cultivating, every reason is just as good as the other. There are no wrong answers for why you seek to better yourselves.... Well as long as you aren't hurting anybody. But lets get into the specifics of cultivating, cultivating is the act of absorbing the natural power of world - qi - in order to strengthen yourself, increase your lifespan and to understand the heavens. How you do so will be through your technique, that is why its so important to choose the right one for you. As it will determine your future in cultivation for the rest of your life. That is of course unless you change techniques and or re-cultivate. As for the stages of cultivation they are in order qi gathering, foundation building, core formation, and nascent soul. Cultivation levels do exist above nascent soul, but there is no reason for you to learn about them at this time. You should all be very new to cultivation so you will be starting at the qi gathering stage. This stage is very simple, the entire purpose of this stage is to gather qi in your dantian, change it from the worlds qi into your own qi and then to circulate it through your body. In this way you strengthen your body as well as amass qi in your dantian to use for spells and more. Once you breakthrough a small stage your body will undergo a change and your cultivation will stabilize, building up the foundation until your ready for foundation establishment at the end of the qi gathering stage. This stage can also be referred to as the qi refining stage as essentially you are gathering qi to refine your body. Once your body is refined enough you will be able to gather more and more qi but you will also require more qi to break through. This creates a feedback-loop were the time it takes you to break through the first qi gathering stage will likely be the same amount of time it takes to break through the next. They're also other factors involving medicine, experience, comprehension and more that can change this time between breakthroughs. so if you get a slow breakthrough don't be discouraged. you will have plenty of chances in the future to make up for it."
"Now when it comes to cultivation techniques, I recommend you go with one related to your element or specialization, and if you're lucky it should be related to both. This will give you the best chance at having a cultivation technique right for you. Obviously this is not always the case, however it usually is. Now when it comes to dual cultivation I would wait until you're an adult to practice that and for demonic cultivation techniques we don't have any as we are a righteous sect. For those who don't know what a demonic technique is, it is a technique either to cruel on others to cultivate or to cruel on oneself to cultivate. That is the simplest way I can put it. If you want help or guidance on which cultivation technique to choose you can ask a teacher for help or ask a librarian for their recommendation. Make sure to be very careful when cultivating as if you stray to far from your technique or you don't give your body enough rest you could enter qi deviation. This is a process were the qi in your body goes haywire and you lose all control over your internal qi. Needless to say that this is very bad and can cause internal injuries and even death. If you are really worried about this you can ask for help from one of the teachers. Oh and I forgot to mention as a bet your guide forgot to tell some of you. Make sure you get a handbook of the sect rules if you haven't already, this is not a mandatory book to get, but I heavily recommend it. With that this class is dismissed, if you have anymore questions about qi deviation or what technique to get come see me after class in my office or anywhere on the classroom grounds."
After that Wu Zhi went to talk to his classmates about what techniques they might be getting. "what technique are you going to get Shen Zhi". "Obviously I'm going to for a water technique with some mobility, I image Zhen Feng will go with a wind technique with some mobility as well, what about you Mo Mei". "I'm going to go for any fire technique that sounds cool". 'Well that's one way to go about it' Wu Zhi thought. "Oh, you should go ask what a dual specialization is" Zhen Feng said. "Nah, I'm more excited to learn about techniques in the library, plus I already know what it is, I just don't know how rare or good it is." "Well suit yourself" Zhen Feng said.
Thus Wu Zhi headed to the library to find his cultivation technique.
