Chapter 3 - Exploring the sect

The cultivators had the kids lined up in a line as they brought them on a small tour of the sect. "Here is the training hall, it is where people go to experience real combat between their peers. As we were led inside we caught glimpses of battles going on. "Woah, so that's what cultivators fighting looks like". One of the kids in the group commented. We saw a staff user fight against a pugilist. The pugilist kept trying to close the distance to get in range for his fists to strike true. While the staff user kept poking and whacking him when he got too close, it was a classic case of range having a huge advantage in combat. The thing that was different though from mortal combat was that these people fought faster, reacted faster, and had an unparalleled precision to there attacks. It was on another level entirely.

After the training hall came the cafeteria, "This is where you will eat, meals are provided for free however you have to complete missions once a month. We will talk more about that later." The cafeteria was quite big, bigger than the training hall, it had a huge courtyard with tables strewn about and a big building with smoke and steam coming out of it. People came hungry and left full. There was seating inside as well. 'It was much more luxurious than he thought, it was a full on pagoda with separate floors private seating and you could even hear music in some parts of the building, quite the step up from what he is used to'.

After that they went to the mission hall, "this is the mission hall. This is where you will receive mission, take up mission and collect contribution points, you have to complete one mission a month does not matter what mission it is but you will not receive contribution points for it, as this is the mission you will do to pay for your food and tuition. After that any mission you do you will receive the contribution points for. Contribution points can be spent for learning new techniques, getting new gear like weapons and potions, or you can trade and barter them with your fellow brothers and sisters. What you do with your contribution points is entirely up to you. For you guys however, you won't be required to take on missions once a month until you turn 20 years old. However we expect you to be fully focused on your cultivation because of this."

Moving on, "This is the library, this is where you will find all related texts to cultivation, your required textbooks for class, and finally all related texts to any technique you want, be it body refining, spells, divination, potion crafting, and more." He then took us up to a librarian to get our required textbooks for class and handed us the heavy books.

"Here is fundaments of cultivating, moral thinking, ethics, mathematics, geography, Understanding of the human body, Everything to learn about beasts, potions and treasures and their usage, and finally social customs and etiquette.

With that they brought their books to there dorm. "Here is your dorm, this is where you will sleep and sometimes cultivate, there are many places in the sect that are good for cultivation, but you will have to find them. As they are not included in this tour".

Finally after dropping off our books we went to the last destination the classrooms, "This is where you will learn everything you need to about cultivation, attendance is not mandatory however it is heavily advised. if you wish to go to class sign up over at the attendance office and if there are enough people signed up the teachers will hold class. There is a 1 - 3 day notice of signing up so you aren't wasting the teachers time by having them teach a class full of 1 person in it.

With that he concluded the tour he gave us a map on the sect a schedule of upcoming events and said "you each get 1 free cultivation technique to choose in the library go find your cultivation technique and start practicing it, we expect you to get to the first level of the qi refining stage in one year. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I recommend you sign up for the beginner level fundamentals of cultivation behind me. They should be starting a class very soon."

So that is exactly what Wu Zhi did, he went to sign up for a fundamentals of cultivation class which started in 50 mins and while they waited for the class to begin he started talking to his classmates.

"So what results did you guys get back for your spiritual root" Wu Zhi said. "I got a 48 talent score, a water element, and a specialization in movement techniques. Oh and my name is Shen Zhi." 'That's pretty good Wu Zhi thought. no wonder they took him, I heard flying wind sect is a sect about movement techniques'. "I can go next, my talent score is 52, I have a fire element, and my specialization is in melee combat, and my name is Mo Mei." "I think I can go next my name is Zhen Feng, my talent score is a 78, my element is wind, and my specialization is in movement techniques". "Wow", "Whoa", 'no wonder he's acting proud, he probably comes from a clan related to the sect too. he's got the perfect root for a place like this'. "Wow congrats, my name is Wu Zhi my talent score is a 68, my element is blood and I have a dual specialization in dual cultivation and meditation". "Wow I've never heard of the blood element" Shen Zhi replied. "Yeah I heard its super rare" Mo Mei replied. Zhen Feng frowned and appeared to be unhappy with the amount of attention Wu Zhi was getting. "I've never even heard of a dual specialization" said Shen Zhi, "yeah me nether" replied Mo Mei. "Its probably not that impressive, but we can ask the teacher" replied Zhen Feng.

Speaking of - the Teacher walked in the classroom they were waiting in. It seems they will finally get to know some things about cultivation.
