Cain's voice broke the silence, "The legal team is waiting for you," he said from the doorway, almost like a whisper.
Jack turned slightly, still holding the edge of the window frame between his fingers. "Where?"
"Fourteenth floor," Cain replied. His tone was measured, but there was something behind it, something that made Jack turn fully to face him.
"Robert Albert?" Jack asked.
Cain paused. His dark eyes gave nothing away. "It's better if you hear it from them."
That alone was enough for Jack to straighten his jacket and head toward the elevator. Cain fell into step beside him, their footsteps echoing on the polished floor. The ride down from the executive floor felt longer than usual. Jack didn't like walking into situations blind, and Cain knew that, but if he was withholding details, it meant this was serious.
