Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8

Bonnie took a 360 view of the place, trying to figure out who her patron was and that is when she laid eyes on him.

The suit man. The only person in the coffee shop wearing a suit. She could tell by seeing the back of his head, though his back was to the door that she had come in, that not just was he wearing suit, he was the only person sitting at the table that it would have made sense for him to do so, as he was waiting for her.

Bonnie walked carefully to where he sat.

As she was approaching the table, she saw that the patron had his head lowered down because he was focused on typing away on his phone.

Bonnie was set to welcome the patron since she recognized him there but he topped her.

"Why are you just coming?"

Bonnie braced herself, clutching her handbag. It was not the announcement that made her heart race two times faster or the venom and sharpness of the tone of the voice but the familiarity of the voice.

She could recognize the voice, at any hour, any given day. The same voice that kept haunting her in dreams for the past five years.

"Can't you talk? I inquired as to what was taking…."

The stranger was muttering and then looked up and got caught on his words.

Bonnie's heart stopped.

His face was the same, exactly as she had recalled. Round, chiseled jaw, little mustache, his hair was well-groomed and his beautiful eyes….it was like she was staring into the eyes of the little angel she left at school this morning.

Bonnie had no idea how long she remained there just looking at him with a heartbreak. She couldn't wrap her head around one thing. What the heck he was doing here in Fareo Island.

And that's when it hit her. That he could be the patron she was there to meet. "No." She whispered to herself, her head shaking in astonishment.

She snapped out of her thoughts when she saw his mouth quiver and thought he was about to say something.

"Viii…Victoria?" He finally voiced out, looking really surprised to see her.

"Sorry?!"

"Bonnie?!" He called again.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Who's Bonnie?" She responded with a stern look, still on her feet, wondering what excuse she would come on with to avoid this meeting with him.

"Bonnie." He repeated once again and this time. She gulped hard, as he stood up. Though there was a table separating them, between the two, she couldn't help but be intimidated by his height and his stocky build. She remembered him to be taller than she was and that has never varied one single bit as she would always tiptoe just to kiss him.

"Bonnie?? Is that you?" He looked confused and bewildered in her direction.

"What? Bonnie? I have no clue who that is."

J'onn exhaled and rubbed his face with his palm to check if he was dreaming or it was real. He had mistaken her for other people on the streets in the past few years. He just wanted to check if he was daydreaming this time as well.

Grudgingly opening his eyes, he was met with the same face. She was even the same and anyone who had seen her prior to this would be able to bear witness to that.

With the exception that she was even more mature, even more gorgeous than he remembered. He could not help but notice she had fuller b**bs, even a broader hip, and even a nicely defined as s. He knew Bonnie never cared for a lot of make-up and she was just as beautiful as he remembered. She was actually very pretty in her work clothes, J'onn could not help sneaking a peek down at her lower profile and saw that her long legs were still present. God understood how much he missed the way her legs were always wrapped around his waist whenever they were enjoying themselves and how could he ever forget those beautiful eyes which never failed to chase him wherever he went in the recent past.

"God, Bonnie? Is this you?" He was even surprised that he could not even form a good sentence or even know what to do or even what to say to convey his emotion.

He was about to go towards her planning to embrace her to confirm but she stopped him with her voice.

"Don't come near me, please. I don't know you or whoever the hell Bonnie is." She tried to say with so much confidence but afterwards turned and bolted towards the door.

The moment Bonnie was out of the coffee shop, She dashed into the car and cowered in the driver's seat, started the engine, and tried to catch her breath, her mind trying to remember what had transpired within.

As far as she knew, J'onn was very rich and would have everything that he wanted with just the flip of his fingers. She started to panic with the threat of him going down to Fareo Island to come and destroy her again.

At that point, Bonnie's eyes were brimming with tears, attempting to think. She was near her end with her death wish thoughts when the vibrating sound of her phone broke through.

She sniffled, outstretched her arm, picked up her handbag which She had placed earlier in the front passenger seat, opened it, and took out her phone.

It was a message from a stranger, apologizing for lateness and promising to be with her within the next ten minutes.

Bonnie relaxed as she put her phone aside, glad he wasn't the patron she was handling. She slapped herself in the head for approaching him, assuming he was her patron.

Bonnie's heart, which was relieved, started working really tough again when she recalled that fact that she had seen him once again. She had known J'onn to be quite a wanderer but fie would never reach Fareo Island for anything. This country had been her sanctuary and now that he was here, She had no notion what would be her fate.

"Breathe, Bonnie, Breathe." She tried her best to do some breathing exercises, leaving aside the tears in her eyes.

Even though she had convinced herself that She would never see him again, She felt so weak and tearful not because their path crossed again but because his presence reminded her of all the adversities and pain that she has suffered.

And so Bonnie lost herself in thought, without an inkling of how time flew past her, and in no time, her phone vibrated on the side table.

She answered and it was her sponsor, telling her that he had already arrived at the coffee shop. He told her the color of the suit he was wearing so she would recognize him immediately. She replied that she was coming immediately.
