The nurses and emergency staff put her on a hospital stretcher, and started wheeling her to the operation theatre. A nurse came with some papers for Eric to sign, he didn't even look at them he just signed. Dr. Robert, the medical director of the hospital was already informed of Eric's coiming. He just got to Eric at this time and asked who the woman involved in the accident was? Eric, still in shock with blood all over his shirt and trousers turned to Dr. Robert puzzled. Chapter 1 - The Accident

Eric Crown walked towards the elevator on the top floor, the echoes of his footsteps and those of his assistant, Andrew, resonating through the empty hallway. It was almost midnight, and everyone had gone home, but Eric was a notorious workaholic, always the last to leave the office.

As he reached the ground floor, one of the night security guards greeted him with a warm smile. "Good night, Mr. Crown." Eric waved in response, wishing the guard a good night as well. He took pride in building strong relationships with his employees, including the janitors.

Outside, Eric got into his car, noticing the ominous clouds that seemed to foretell an impending storm. It had been a long and grueling day, filled with meetings that had left him exhausted. One meeting in particular, a company takeover, had been a challenge. The family members of the company had disagreed on the terms, leading to a heated argument.

Despite the setbacks, Eric's team had managed to secure a good deal. As he sat in the back of his car, a satisfied smile spread across his face. The buyout would be a great investment, and his team would make a substantial profit once they restructured the company.

Just as Eric was about to relax, the car suddenly jerked to a stop. His driver, Kelvin, applied the brakes, and Eric was pushed forward, his seatbelt holding him in place.

"Sir, it seems we've hit something," Kelvin said, getting out of the car to investigate. Eric instructed him to check what it was.

A moment later, Kelvin reported back, his voice laced with concern. "Sir, we've hit a woman, and it's serious." Eric's expression turned grave as he quickly got out of the car.

The woman was lying on the ground, bleeding profusely. Eric's eyes widened as he took in the sight of her large stomach, covered in blood. Panic set in, and he quickly scooped her up, rushing towards his car.

"Drive to our hospital," he instructed Kelvin, his voice firm and urgent. Andrew, his assistant, tried to caution him, but Eric was resolute. "Don't just stand there, let's go!"

As they sped towards the hospital, Eric held the woman's head in his lap, trying to keep her stable. Andrew sat in the front passenger seat, his eyes fixed on Eric, concern etched on his face.

"Sir, you can't be seen to be connected to this matter," Andrew said softly, trying to reason with Eric. But Eric was adamant, refusing to leave the woman's side.

When they arrived at the hospital, Eric rushed out of the car, cradling the woman in his arms. Andrew followed closely behind, his mind racing with the potential implications of the situation.

As they entered the hospital, Eric's sole focus was on getting the woman the medical attention she needed. Andrew trailed behind, already thinking of ways to contain the situation and prevent it from becoming a scandal.

The hospital staff sprang into action as Eric rushed in with the woman in his arms. A team of doctors and nurses quickly surrounded them, assessing the situation.

Dr. Robert, a seasoned physician, took charge. "Get her onto the gurney, stat!" he ordered.

Eric gently placed the woman on the gurney, his eyes never leaving her face. The medical team swiftly wheeled her away, disappearing behind the doors of the emergency room.

Eric's anxiety grew as he paced back and forth in the waiting area. Andrew tried to calm him down, but Eric's mind was fixed on the woman's well-being.

"What's taking so long?" Eric muttered, checking his watch for what felt like the hundredth time.

Andrew placed a reassuring hand on Eric's shoulder. "The doctors are doing everything they can, sir. Let's wait and see what they have to say."

Eric nodded, taking a deep breath. He knew Andrew was right, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of responsibility for the woman's condition.

As they waited, Eric's thoughts drifted back to the moment the driver hit the woman with his car. Had he been driving recklessly? Could the driver have avoided the accident? The questions swirled in his mind, making him feel increasingly uneasy. But then he remembered that the woman just walked into the road, right in front of them.

Just then, Dr. Robert emerged from the emergency room, his expression somber. "Mr. Crown, we need to talk."

Dr. Robert's expression was grave as he approached Eric. "Mr. Crown, the patient's condition is critical. She has severe injuries and significant blood loss. We need to operate immediately to save her life."

Eric's face paled as he processed the information. "Do whatever it takes, Doctor. Save her."

Dr. Robert nodded. "We'll do everything we can. However, the patient's pregnancy is a complicating factor. We'll need to prioritize both her health and the baby's."

Eric's eyes widened in surprise. "Pregnancy?"

Dr. Robert nodded. "Yes, the patient is approximately seven months pregnant. We'll need to take extra precautions during the surgery."

Eric's mind reeled with the new information. A pregnant woman, fighting for her life... He felt a surge of determination. "Save her, Doctor. Save both her and the baby."

Dr. Robert nodded. "We'll do everything we can, Mr. Crown. But I need to warn you, the next few hours will be crucial."

With that, Dr. Robert turned and rushed back into the emergency room, leaving Eric to grapple with the uncertainty of the situation...

Eric Crown was overwhelmed with concern but most importantly the accident has shaken him. He was looking forward to a quiet dinner and sleep, only to be involved in this accident.

He turned to his assistant Andrew who was on the phone, talking to the driver of the car involved in the accident who was also shaken having never been involved in an accident of this magnitude.

Kelvin was a very careful driver and had driven him for over five years now without any accident, so accident was a very surprising incident, unsettling the whole of his security team.
