Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Whitebeard Pirates?

Mordred learned a lot about this world through her temporary Master, Marco.

This is a world entirely composed of oceans and islands, with countless nations of varying sizes, the Marines, pirates, the World Government, the Revolutionary Army, the Celestial Dragons, and something called Devil Fruits.

In this world, pirates are all searching for a treasure known as the One Piece, and the pirate culture thrives.

It sounded incredibly fun, completely different from the style of her own world.

Ritsuka had also told her to enjoy herself in this world—wasn't that just the symbol of embarking on an adventure?

"Hey, Master, let's go! Our journey is the starry seas!" Mordred pointed into the distance with spirited enthusiasm, making her declaration.

Watching Saber laugh heartily while proclaiming such bold words, Marco's body faintly stirred with a sense of exhilaration.

It had been a long time since he last felt this way, ever since Pops became one of the Four Emperors.

This sea was vast—the four blues, the Grand Line, and the New World—he had been to all of them.

Moments of youthful passion like this were rare now. Staying by Pops' and his crew's side was great, but being able to relive the thrill of sailing across the seas was another kind of novel experience.

So, even if he returned to the Moby Dick a little later, Pops and the others would understand, right? Marco mentally settled on it—this was a happy decision.

Meanwhile, the Whitebeard Pirates waiting anxiously in the New World: "Didn't Marco say he'd be here soon? Why isn't he back yet?"

"Let's go, Saber. Didn't you say you wanted to go to Fish-Man Island?"

"How do we get there?"

"Of course, I'll fly you there."

For context: Marco is a 45-year-old, 203 cm tall man, while Mordred appears to be a teenage girl standing at 154 cm. Together, they look exactly like a father-daughter duo.

This round belongs to the father-son team! As for why it's a father-son team and not a father-daughter team, Mordred has something to say: "What I say goes!!!"

And then Marco picked Saber up—yes, in a princess carry—before spreading his fantastical blue flame wings and taking off into the sky.

Marco is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user with the mythical Phoenix form. Flying is just standard for him.

As for Mordred, she wasn't surprised that her Master could fly—after all, she had literally fallen out of the sky onto him in the first place. But she had strong objections to the princess carry!!!

However, her protests were overruled. Marco dismissed her complaints on the grounds that this was the fastest way to travel.

As for why Marco called her "Saber" instead of the more affectionate "Mordred," it was because Mordred insisted, "Hiding my true name prevents information leaks. Even though this world doesn't have a Holy Grail War, you never know what unexpected situations might arise. I was summoned as a Saber-class Servant, so calling me Saber is the norm."

Marco didn't understand the Holy Grail War, but he respected Saber's wishes.

Not to mention, even though they'd only known each other for half a day, he'd already gotten a taste of Saber's difficult side.

For example, if someone simply defined her by her gender, she'd get angry—to the point of throwing punches.

In short, you couldn't treat her as just a woman, nor could you treat her as just a man. Saber was Saber, with a personality that was, to put it mildly, a huge pain in the ass.

But this wasn't much of a problem for Marco. After all, the Whitebeard Pirates had all kinds of personalities, and as one of the crew's veterans, Marco could handle this kind of thing with ease.

At the Shakky's Rip-Off Bar on Sabaody Archipelago:

"Rayleigh isn't here. If you're going to Fish-Man Island, you'll have to find someone else to coat your ship," said the bar's owner, Shakky.

Hearing this, Marco, who was drinking, wasn't particularly surprised. Out of ten visits, Rayleigh was absent eight times. He didn't necessarily need Rayleigh for the coating—he'd just wanted to catch up with an old friend.

Mordred downed her drink in one go and immediately stood up, ready to leave.

"Master, he's not here. Let's go—no point wasting time."

Marco nodded at Shakky, finished his drink, and prepared to leave the bar with Mordred.

Mordred was fascinated by Sabaody Archipelago. The moment they arrived, she noticed bubbles everywhere.

Seeing her curiosity, Marco explained that the island was made up of giant trees, with the ground being their roots. These trees, called Adam Trees, constantly released bubbles from the earth.

The most distinctive feature of Sabaody was the special natural resin secreted by the roots of the Adam Trees due to respiration. When this resin came into contact with air, it expanded and formed unique bubbles that floated into the sky.

These bubbles could only exist within the climate range of the Adam Trees. Once they left Sabaody's atmospheric zone, they would pop.

Thus, bubble culture permeated every corner of Sabaody Archipelago.

From the moment they arrived, Mordred had been captivated by the novelty bubbles, but Marco insisted on securing passage to Fish-Man Island first.

So, they'd come to Shakky's Rip-Off Bar—only to find the person they were looking for absent. Now, Mordred's heart was already out there in the world of bubbles.

Back at Chaldea, there were no such wonders—just endless snow and nothing else. As for her former homeland, Britain… well, best not to bring that up.

Seeing Saber like this, Marco cheerfully bid Shakky farewell. If his kid wanted to play, of course he'd indulge her. Who cared about that bastard Rayleigh?

Shakky, watching Marco, teased with a smile, "Marco, you look exactly like a doting father now. Go on, enjoy your parent-child bonding. I'll take care of arranging the ship and coating for Fish-Man Island."

Marco chuckled wryly, thinking to himself, Parent-child bonding? Saber's more like a little tyrant.

But despite his thoughts, the upward curve of his lips was the most telling.

Waving goodbye to Shakky, Marco led Saber toward Grove 30 of Sabaody Archipelago
