One day, Xavier led me through the woods, guiding me toward a modest, cozy cottage nestled among the trees. As we approached, my heart raced, but Xavier squeezed my hand gently.
I had never imagined that this was the special mission they had been keeping from me.
"They're going to love you," he said softly as we reached the door.
Before I could respond, the door swung open, revealing an elderly couple with warm smiles and sparkling eyes.
"Xavier!" his mother, a petite woman with silvery hair, called out, pulling him into a tight embrace. "You didn't tell us you were bringing your mate! Oh, look at her!"
She turned her attention to me, eyes shining with affection. "Come here, dear. We've heard so much about you."
I smiled shyly, stepping forward as Xavier's mother, Catarina, pulled me into a surprisingly strong hug. Meanwhile, his father, Nicholas, tall and still imposing despite his age, gave me a nod of approval.
