Outside the base, the sounds of fighting abruptly ceased. A voice, clear and commanding, echoed through the shattered gates. "Stop! Everyone, kneel down! We came for A.D.! We do not have any business with anyone else. We want A.D. to come here! Tell us, where is he?"
Inside, Sharleen turned to A.D., her face pale. "I didn't know about this!"
"You're lying! You're dead now, I'll kill you!" Jane roared, lunging forward.
Outside, the enemy leader aimed his gun at a child, holding him against his distraught mother. "Tell me," the leader's voice boomed, "or I'll kill this child!"
In the room, A.D. took a step towards the door, but Jane grabbed his arm. "No! You don't go outside! Me and David will go and try to manage this situation."
"No, you can't handle this," A.D. insisted. "I'll have to go."
"Huh! And why is this happening?" David burst out, frustrated. "At the end, we're again in danger! Shit, shit!" He turned to Sharleen. "It's because of you!"
"I did not do it!" Sharleen protested.
"Okay, now stop it," A.D. interjected, his voice firm. "I think she's right. She also knows that to get out from this game, she needs us. They had followed them." He looked at Sharleen. "Listen, I will have to go." A.D. then faced her, his expression serious. "Sharleen, listen now. It's on you. They will get me there. You have to stop this virus. I'm trusting you." He handed her a small box containing a sample of the antidote.
They all came out. "Stop it!" A.D. yelled to the leader. "You can take me!"
"No, not you only," the leader retorted, his gun now aimed at Jane. "And David will also come with us!"
"I'm coming! Why do you need them?" A.D. demanded, desperate.
"No," the leader sneered, "Boss wants David for what he did, and this girl is your life. James told us. If we get her, you will not do anything." With that, his men grabbed Jane and David, taking them as well.
