Chapter 243 - 243: [Bonus] The Angel's Child.

Before leaving Dressrosa, Chiga made one final stop—at the city's hospital.

He appeared directly in the dean's office. The startled man looked up, then immediately stood and bowed in excitement.

"Admiral Purple Kirin! I'm Mendel, the dean here. Is there something you need?"

Chiga smiled politely. "There's a woman admitted here. She fell into a coma after a head injury from falling debris. Her name is Russian."

Mendel nodded right away. "Yes, I know the case well. She's been here for a long time. A man in a black suit used to visit her frequently, but eventually stopped coming. After that, people from the Donquixote Family started covering her medical bills."

Chiga pulled out a large stack of Berries from the Door-Door Space and placed them on the desk. "They won't be coming anymore. Use this to cover all her expenses."

"This much... If she's connected to you, Admiral, we could waive the fees entirely—"

"No need. Just take care of her."

With that, Chiga vanished without another word.

Russian was Senior Pink's wife. During that Island incident, Chiga had deliberately spared Senior's life out of respect for his unwavering loyalty and love.

Though Doflamingo had his many faults, even Chiga had to admit he'd done the right thing by ensuring Luciano's hospital care was maintained.

But now that Doflamingo was gone, there'd be no one left to handle it. This was the least Chiga could do.

As for pink, he'd be imprisoned for a while. Hopefully, once released, he could live peacefully at Russian's side.

...

At Navy Headquarters, Fleet Admiral Sengoku's Office

Swish!

Chiga suddenly appeared in front of Sengoku. The old Admiral didn't even flinch—he was long accustomed to Chiga's sudden entrances.

He calmly sipped his tea and greeted him with a smile.

"So, Chiga. What did you uncover in Alabasta this time?"

Chiga answered casually, "Crocodile was up to something, but I've already dealt with him. Just gave him a minor punishment."

"Haha! He's got the worst luck running into you," Sengoku chuckled, not even asking for details. With Chiga handling things, the outcome was always favorable.

Chiga continued, "I also stopped by Dressrosa. Doflamingo had forcefully taken over the kingdom. I arrested him."

As he spoke, he opened a Door-Door portal. Fujitora stepped out first, carrying an unconscious Doflamingo over his shoulder. Robin followed behind.

Sengoku raised an eyebrow. "You arrested Doflamingo yourself?"

Without hesitation, he called in Marines to apply Sea Prism Stone cuffs and take Doflamingo into custody.

Then, Sengoku turned to inspect the two people standing behind Chiga.

The blind swordsman was unfamiliar—but he radiated strength.

The woman, on the other hand, looked eerily familiar. The more Sengoku stared, the more his expression changed.

"Wait a moment... Isn't that Robin? Nico Robin? The one labeled the Devil's Child by the World Government?"

Sengoku's tone sharpened. Chiga noticed, and calmly introduced them.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, this is Fujitora. He's decided to join the Navy. And this is Robin, a brilliant scholar who will also be joining us."

Sengoku's face darkened. "Chiga, do you know who this girl is?"

"Of course. I believe the World Government calls her the Angel's Child or something like that?"

"It's Devil's Child, and that title is not a joke. If the World Government finds out she's here, it could spell serious trouble for you!"

Sengoku had already marked Chiga as the next likely Fleet Admiral. He didn't want Robin to become a stain on Chiga's record.

Robin quietly lowered her head. She wasn't afraid of being arrested—she'd lived with that fear her entire life. What she feared now was losing the place she'd finally found—a place beside Chiga.

With him, for the first time in years, she felt secure, accepted, even happy.

Then Fujitora, who had been silently observing, spoke up.

"Fleet Admiral... may I ask, what crime has Miss Robin committed?"

The room fell quiet.

Sengoku opened his mouth but couldn't answer immediately. When Robin was declared wanted, she'd only been a child. Her only "crime" was being the daughter of Nico Olvia, a woman who had pursued the forbidden truths of history.

Before Sengoku could reply, Chiga stepped forward and said with unwavering calm,

"She is innocent."

Those three simple words echoed with power and conviction. The room seemed to still.

Robin looked up, stunned. Her heart surged as if those words had struck her like lightning. For a woman burdened with fear and isolation her whole life, those three words carried the weight of salvation.

Chiga gave her a warm smile. She felt a warmth spread through her chest. But he wasn't done speaking yet.

"She is a victim," Chiga said. "Her only misfortune was having a mother who was naive and irresponsible—Nico Olvia."

Robin stiffened but said nothing. She knew Chiga wouldn't say this lightly.

Chiga stepped beside her, gently wrapped an arm around her, and continued softly,

"Was the history Olvia pursued so desperately truly worth it? Even if she had uncovered the truth, what could she do against the World Government? That pursuit did nothing but throw the world into more chaos. In the end, how was she any different from Roger?"

Sengoku paused. Chiga's disdain for the World Government was clear—but his words made sense. And, to Sengoku's surprise, they resonated.

Robin stood quietly, deep in thought. She didn't react emotionally. She didn't defend her mother. Instead, she reflected.

That made Chiga respect her even more. He gave her back a gentle pat and added,

"There's no doubt your mother loved you. But that doesn't make her a responsible one."
