Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Tracy didn't say directly that she threw the data into her home trash can. She wasn't lying, but she didn't tell the full truth either. Since the man cared so much about that data and the police were chasing him so hard, it showed the data was very important. He didn't seem like a good person. If she could protect the data and give it to the police, she was willing to help.

If she couldn't escape from him later, then maybe she would tell him where the data was.

Now, how could she get out of here? She couldn't count on the jewelry company's security. That man had a gun. The guards here were not trained for that and might get hurt.

This was the jewelry company's break room. The walls were made of glass. Even though the man had closed the door, people outside could still see inside if they walked by. Tracy suddenly had an idea. She decided to try to ask for help. She hoped someone outside would notice her signals and call the police.

Huro didn't know that Tracy was already thinking about how to escape. After hearing her words, he became very angry. He had gone through a lot of danger to get that data. He almost died for it.

And now she just threw it away. If he hadn't held on to the little bit of control he still had, he might have pulled the trigger right away.

When Tracy saw how bad his face looked, she knew he was angry. She didn't say anything more and didn't dare to make him even more upset.

Even though he heard bad news, it was still better than having the police take the data. So Huro said, "Where did you throw the data. Don't even think about lying to me. I can tell if you're lying. If I don't find it where you say it is, your life is over."

"I wouldn't lie to you," Tracy said. "When I was walking home that day, I felt something in my bag that didn't belong to me. It looked like a small USB stick, but the end didn't look like a normal USB plug. I didn't know what it was, and I had no use for it, so I just threw it away. It was in a small alley not far from my home."

She saw his face looking darker and quickly added, "But don't worry. It didn't look important, so no one would have picked it up. If you go check, you'll find it."

"I'll believe you this time. But don't play games with me. This gun won't care who you are," Huro said coldly.

Actually, he didn't dare to shoot her. She was the only one who knew where the data was. If he shot her, he would lose all hope. Also, there were police and special agents outside. If he caused any trouble, they would catch him, and he would never get away.

The police outside were a problem too. If he left with Tracy, they would know something was wrong. So he had to go look for the data by himself.

"How could I lie to you. That thing means nothing to me. I have no reason to lie. I already told you everything. Can you let me go now," Tracy said.

Huro couldn't take her outside with him. He remembered the place she mentioned and planned to go find the data on his own.

He knew that getting close to Tracy this time was pure luck. It wouldn't be easy next time. So he took out a pill and forced her to swallow it.

"Cough, cough. What did you give me," Tracy asked, coughing.

"This is poison. Our group made it. If you told the truth, I'll give you the antidote later. If I don't find the data where you said it is, you'll die. Don't think the police can save you," Huro said.

When Tracy heard that, she felt cold inside. She didn't believe he would give her the antidote, even if he found the data. Once he had what he wanted, he wouldn't care about her life.

If he couldn't find the data, he would come back. And she might suffer even more.

Why was she so unlucky. Why did this happen to her. What should she do now.

At that moment, Mr. Yan walked out to use the restroom. He saw Tracy and a man in the break room. He was surprised. Why was Ms. Tracy still here.

At first, he didn't think much. The break room was for guests too. If she wanted to stay longer, that was fine. But just as he turned to leave, he saw Tracy making hand signals at him.

He felt confused but didn't stop. He kept walking toward the restroom. When he got inside, he paused.

If he saw it right, Tracy was asking for help. But why didn't she call out. That meant the man with her was dangerous. From her signal, he even had a gun.

Why would someone that dangerous come into their company. No matter if it was to help her or protect himself, Mr. Yan couldn't ignore it. He picked up his phone and called the police.

Tracy saw Mr. Yan walk away. She didn't know if he understood her signals. Her heart was a mess. Even if the police came and caught the man, they might not get the antidote.

Outside, the police and Cris were still waiting. Tracy hadn't come out for a long time. They were starting to worry. But they didn't think she was in danger yet.

Then a message came from the local police. After hearing it, their faces changed.

"Bad news. Tracy has been targeted by Huro. She's with him right now. We have to move now," said one of the officers.

"Wait a second. If we go up right now, Huro might have a hostage. We can't take any risks. If he runs away again after we finally found him, it will be a big loss. Also, since he came looking for Tracy, it means the important file might be with her. That file is too important. We can't let him take it," Cris said.

"So what should we do now?" a few police officers asked.

Cris didn't want anything bad to happen to Tracy. She had helped his family before. If they rushed in, Huro might panic and hurt her. That's why Cris didn't let the police go in yet.

After learning where Huro was, Cris quickly sent a message to his teammates to come help. Then he told the police officers, "Stay here and keep watch. Don't act without my signal. I'll go in quietly to check the situation. If anything dangerous happens, I'll act right away. It's easier for me to move alone."

"This matter is now in your hands, Captain Cris. Please do your best to avoid any harm," one officer said.

"Don't worry. I won't let Huro hurt any innocent people," Cris said with confidence.

Cris showed his ID and entered the jewelry company. He went to the floor where Tracy was.

He found Mr. Yan in the restroom and said, "Hello, I'm Officer Cris. This is my ID. Did you make the emergency call? Can you tell me what you saw? Your information will help us rescue the hostage."

"So you're a police officer. I didn't expect you to come so fast. You're truly a good officer. When I passed by the break room, I saw Ms. Tracy, who we've worked with before, sitting with a man I didn't know. At first I didn't think much about it. But then Ms. Tracy used hand signs. I understood two signs. One was asking for help, and the other showed that the man had a gun. I was too scared to say anything, so I came to the restroom and quietly called the police. Officer, please save Ms. Tracy," Mr. Yan said nervously.

"Don't worry. We are here to protect the people. We won't let this criminal hurt anyone. Stay here and don't go out. Also, tell the others in the company to hide for now. We've already surrounded the place. He has no way out," Cris said.

"Understood, officer. I'll tell everyone right now. We won't make trouble for you," Mr. Yan answered quickly.

After talking to Mr. Yan, Cris went to the area near the break room. Through the glass, he saw Tracy and a man sitting together. The man didn't look like Huro, but Cris knew a skilled agent like Huro could easily change his face.

Cris came just in time. Tracy and Huro were already about to leave. Tracy had already told him where she dropped the file, and Huro wanted to get it right away.

Even though the file didn't look valuable, there was still a chance someone might find it. If it was lost, everything they had done would be wasted. They would also attract attention from the police and the special forces.

As soon as the break room door opened, Cris quickly hid. He couldn't appear yet. He was afraid Huro would grab Tracy as a hostage.

After leaving the break room, Tracy naturally moved away from Huro. Even though he had let her go, she was still afraid he might suddenly hurt her. She had been poisoned and felt weak. Her steps were slow and heavy.

Huro didn't care about her. He didn't plan to take her along. So when she slowed down and stayed behind, he didn't mind.

Cris saw what was happening and thought it was the perfect chance. When Tracy was close to Huro, he couldn't act. But now that they were far apart, he could attack without putting her in danger.

When Huro turned a corner, he suddenly felt something wrong. It was a feeling of danger. His instincts had helped him avoid danger many times before.

As he turned to leave, Cris took action. He jumped out and grabbed him. This time, Huro had no chance to escape.

Because it was a surprise attack and because Cris was much stronger, Huro couldn't fight back. He was caught right away.

Last time, Huro had escaped. Cris had been ashamed about that. But now, there was no way Huro would get away again.

When Huro saw that it was Cris, his heart sank. He had almost gotten the file. He didn't expect someone from the special team to show up.

Was this all a trap? Now it made sense why the guards seemed so weak. They wanted him to fall into it. He thought he was lucky and found a chance, but it was a trick.

He realized he had been too impatient. But now he had no choice. He had been caught. He could only wait and see what happened next.

When Tracy saw Cris catch Huro, she felt happy. She had thought she was going to die. Now she saw hope. She knew Cris. He would help her.

After catching Huro, Cris contacted the police and told them to come up and take Huro away.

Huro didn't fight back. He knew he couldn't get away. If he resisted, he would only get hurt more.

With Huro under control, Cris turned to Tracy and said, "Are you alright? You've had a rough time. That man is a criminal we've been hunting for. Last time, he got away. But not this time. Luckily, we caught him today. If not, the results would have been very bad."
