## The Child's Fate
The child in my arms began to glow.
I looked down at her tiny face. Her eyes were closed. But light poured from her skin. Soft. Gentle. Like moonbeams.
"What's happening?" I whispered.
The air around us hummed with power. I could feel magic building. Something big was coming.
The child's lips moved. No sound came out at first. Then I heard it. A whisper so soft it might have been the wind.
"Her choice is mine too."
My blood turned to ice. "What did you say?"
The child opened her eyes. They glowed with silver light. When she spoke, her voice was older. Wiser. Like she carried the weight of centuries.
"The Alpha's choice," she said. "Her sacrifice. It will decide my fate."
I held her closer. "I don't understand."
"I am the bridge," the child said. "Between light and dark. Between hope and despair. What Vanessa chooses will determine what I become."
