Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Damien's POV

It had been a day or so, and her father hadn't come for her which got me really worried. I wasn't someone to be greedy enough, and even when I wanted to keep her, I was still worried about her.

As I pondered in thought in my room, there was a soft knock on the door. A few seconds later, when I didn't give a response, he came up. It was George, and he seemed to have an envelope in his hands.

"There's sometimes you need to see," he expressed, and handed the paper into my hands. At first, I was taken aback. I didn't even know what the letter contained, but when he explained who it was from, I frowned.

I immediately opened the letter, and what I saw there caused me to frown deeply. My wolf was calm at first, but when he noticed the letter, and what it contained, he growled.

"How dare he demand for our mate? Find him, and I'll do the honours of actually doing what I can to bring him down. It doesn't really matter how."

As I spoke, I fisted the paper so tight when George noticed how angry I was already.

"If I find this idiot, I'm going to kill him, and then make sure he's not buried," I growled out loud.

George didn't say anything. He just allowed me to vent out all of my anger.

I was most especially worried about my mate, but then I was convinced she was actually in good hands, and there was no need to be worried about everything. I was able to catch the man, what made him then I wouldn't hunt him down.

"Don't worry I'll handle this when I'm ready, but for now, he can't come near her. I'll keep her because she's mine!" My tone was hard and possessive.

Did I really care? No I didn't. All I actually really cared about was myself. At this point. Everything was looking a bit strange.

"That's not all," he expressed, and paused, which made me raise my brow. I was shocked at what he was about to do. There were so many things involved. I was trying my best to be myself, but there was no way that was possible.

I knew the reason they were calling. In fact, for the past months, there had been a constant meeting on the same topic.

"Let me guess about the successor right?"

George shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea, but I do know they are in the meeting room waiting on you."

My eyes widened, and I nodded. "I'll be right there."

He does the same gesture, and walks away, leaving me alone to my thoughts. I really had to face this man again. But at least this time, there was hope.

I walked out of the room and to the meeting room where all the elders were seated. As soon as they set eyes on me, they immediately stood up, but as always they wore a serious gaze, and didn't seem happy because they were all wearing frowns.

"Good day alpha…" They greeted me, and I waved before they sat down. I also wore a serious suit, waiting to hear exactly what they wanted to say.

"So what exactly do you all want to see me for?"

"The usual…" The head of the elders answered, and I raised one of my brow. I relaxed my back in my seat, and sighed. I knew this was it.

"But this time, we have brought a solution. You have always said you would look into it, and I feel giving you the leisure to do something on your own is taking too long, that's why I have a suggestion."

Creased lines spread across my face, and I immediately rolled my eyes. I knew this was what they wanted to talk about. I should have not come from the onset.

"So what's your suggestion?" Just for listening sake I had to ask him.

"We want you to marry the Alpha's daughter. The one to whom our pack is allied with."

I scoffed, but allowed him to finish his words. "She's beautiful, and a well cultured lady. I feel she can give you what you want."

I nodded, but didn't say anything else for a few seconds "Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not going with that idea. I'm not doing that because I have other things in place already."

The elders frowned. "Like what alpha? You keep repeating the same statement all the time. What exactly have you put in place, with all due respect let us know.'

I sighed. "I have found my successor, and I feel that's all you should know for now," I expressed, walking out of there. I had planned to see her today. She had been a bit distant. I stood from my seat and excused myself from the meeting, to their surprise.

I walked sturdily, I had memorized how many steps it took me to get to my mate's room and when I finally reached the door, my heart swelled, and I could feel butterflies in my stomach.

"Good morning," I knocked, slightly opening the door, but when she didn't say a word, I let myself in. I walked over to her, and smiled at her as well. However, she lowered her head.

"How are you feeling today?" I asked, still keeping high hopes, but she sighed.

After a few seconds, she spoke. "Fine. Thank you for accommodating me." She said, and I could tell the sadness in her tone.

I smiled, moving closer to her, I was so happy she had finally spoken to me. "Of course I had to. You're my mate, and you deserve the best."

She turned sharply, and sighed. "Mate, huh?" There was no excitement in her tone.

"What's your name?" I paused. "I'm Damien, and you?"

She shook her head refusing to tell me, or maybe she was still trying to know me I guess.

"Well my little fire, if you don't answer, I'll have to stick with this," I expressed, and when she turned to look at me, I nodded, and then sighed. "You're my mate, it's so nice to actually–"

She interrupted "I know, but… but I sacred," she stammered. "I didn't expect to meet with such a thing here. You need to understand that–"

I interrupted her this time "There's a first time for everything, and by now you should know I'm not a bad person. The moon goddess has brought us together, and I understand you being scared."

She pressed her lips, and pulled her eyes away from mine. Damn viewing her from up close was fucking amazing. I could stare at her all day, but she was so timid and i didnt like it. I needed her to be brave because she was the one who would take over my pack when…when I am no longer around. But right now, I just needed to make her feel safe.

I walked towards the side of the room where a guitar was kept as per my order, and I picked it up. She furrowed her brows, but I came to sit close to her. I strummed the guitar beautifully, singing songs to calm her down.

"That was beautiful," she expressed when I was done, but she didn't expect my next move. I captured her lips in a kiss, one we both didn't want to break off from easily.

Our lips sync, and she moaned while I roamed her skin figure eight. I didn't expect it to escalate so fast but we both wanted each other. Badly.

"Fuck…" I groaned as well.

A few hours later, I was in the meeting room waiting for the elder I had called to a meeting with George by my side.

"You called for us alpha," they explained, and he nodded.

"Yes I did. Your prayers have been answered."

They looked at themselves murmuring, but I interrupted them by making my announcement.

"Evelyn Brookes, my mate who I have just met is whom I'm going to wed, and she's also going to be my successor." I explained, leaving them stunned.
