Chapter 3 - New Comfort

Paul ended up setting up a request for a magic tutor. A few days later, the tutor in question showed up. Once we met face to face…

She's a kid.

She looked to be around maybe her early teens to mid teens. She had long blue hair with twin braids.

"Good evening, I'm Roxy Migurdia. I'm here for the teaching position."

Ah, even her voice sounds childish.

I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. I kinda hoped for a strong looking, more wise, and cool wizard to train me in magic. Someone that would share crazy and awesome stories about their adventures. But this one looks like she hardly has any experience.

She wore a type of witch's hat, wore a dress with a cloak draped over it. She had a staff in one hand, and a suitcase in the other.

Even Paul and Zenith were confused.

Once we introduced ourselves and who she was teaching, she too looked disappointed and said if I even understand the concept of magic. Zenith assured her that I was a genius, which didn't ease Roxy's worries.

After that, we began our… training I would say. But it was mostly a bit of introduction.

We were outside, I was sitting on a chair watching Roxy explain the basics of magic and its raking. Pretty predictable stuff, so predictable that I don't need to explain what it does in my head.

Roxy began demonstrating a water ball as she shot it at Zenith's tree which broke a branch off.

"Do you understand now?" She said with a very expressionless tone.

"Roxy, that was the tree Zenith grew before I was born. She loves that tree more than anything."

In a panic, she quickly ran to the tree and performed a healing spell on it which restored the branch. Relieved, she went back to where I was. "That was close."

She then looked at me, "you called your mother by her name?"

I nodded, "yes."

She looked confused, "why, don't you call her mom or something?"

"Nope."

I wasn't comfortable calling Zenith mother. For the past four years, I never said mother to her once, nor did I call Paul father. They did try to get me to say it, but I never did. No matter what they do, I wouldn't budge. Calling them mother and father never felt right with me, it felt like a tang in my heart. Granted, this did hurt their feelings, but I honestly didn't care. Both would look sad at times when I addressed them by their names, but I didn't feel an ounce of feeling bad for them. But I didn't want to see them looking down so I told them their names sounded cool so I would continue calling their names.

They seem somewhat content with that answer, they got a little used to it and so on.

But to be really honest, I just didn't want to play with this child's life. It's exhausting putting up an act, it's even tiring pretending to be a child.

Roxy, noticing how emotionless I looked, went on with the lesson.

"Now you try, remember the incantation. "

I noticed that she needs to speak to use magic.

I actually managed in the past, that I can do silent incantation. How I did it was based on feeling the magic within me and imaging it. Once I do, I can cast magic without saying anything. A very useful skill indeed.

I guess Roxy can't do it, or doesn't want to.

Anyway, I shot a water ball at the tree, which blew it off its stump, without saying anything which shocked the blue haired girl.

"You… you didn't say anything, and yet… you used a water ball perfectly." She continued looking speechless, "how is this possible?"

I just shrug it off, "I just use it without incantation, no big deal."

"No big deal huh…" was all she could say before saying under her breath that this might be worth teaching me.

Before we could get serious…

"Ahh!"

Zenith came by, dropping a tray of refreshments, and noticed her now destroyed tree.

"Roxy! Don't shoot magic at my tree!" She rushed up to her beloved tree and began a healing spell on it.

Now Roxy is really in a panic. She thinks that she's about to be fired on her first day. But after a stern lecture of being careful, she was safe for another day.

"Can't believe I messed up today." She sat on the ground, hugging her knees while sulking.

She's being a bit dramatic.

I placed my hand on her shoulder, "look… take this as a lesson. Learn from your mistakes and do better in the future."

She thought for a moment before standing up. She looked at me for a bit before flicking my forehead. "You are a strange kid."

I rubbed my head, "thank you."

She sighs, "that wasn't a compliment."

We both giggled before hearing Zenith call us in the house.

"Come on, hopefully we can continue our lessons tomorrow.", she said.

We headed into the house.

That was the time Roxy became my teacher.

"Where were you Shi?"

My brother was sitting in the living room in dad's old arm chair.

I just came home late. I was wandering around, enjoying the late night breeze.

"Around."

"Around where?", my brother asked.

I proceeded to slowly walk towards the kitchen. "Somewhere… I'm hungry."

As I entered the kitchen, my brother got up from the chair and followed me. "I got a call from your school. You got into another fight."

I peeked into the fridge to pull out a half eaten spam and rice roll. "I did, he deserved it." I took a bite, not bothering to heat it up.

"Shi… you broke his nose and pushed him down the stairs. Luckily, the fall wasn't so bad, he only broke his wrist."

"What can I say, he came after me. I have a right to defend myself, and we just so happened to be by the stairs." I finished up my snack.

"And when they called me to get you, you had already left."

I walked past him, "school was over, I wanted to be by myself."

He grabbed my shoulder, "Shi, they were about to suspend you because of your actions. This is the seventh fight you've been in, I had to apologize and ask them to give you a chance. They agreed to give you one more chance due to your circumstances."

"What? That I have post traumatic stress from when mom and dad died? That I'm suffering so much that I lash out at anything in sight? Do they pity me that much?" I shrugged off his hand on my shoulder. I went upstairs, not before hearing my brother say something under his breath.

"You are such a curse."

"..?!"

I awoke in a cold sweat.

To think I would dream of that memory.

I slowly sat up from bed, rubbing the sweat from my brow. I rather not think about the past, I didn't exactly live a good life. Despite the second life I have here with loving parents, my time of wanting something better passed a long time ago. I have no desire to open up to anybody anymore. I'm sorry Paul and Zenith, I'll play along with this family for now. But once I'm able to fully develop my powers and swordplay, I'm leaving here.

Speaking of Paul and Zenith, I can hear them in the other room. The walls here aren't exactly soundproof, and I bet Zenith's moaning can be heard throughout the house.

I should probably jump in there to stop them. I don't think I can get any sleep with this disturbance.

"Master Rudeus, where are you going?", Lilia said, who awoke from her sleep as well.

Damn, I forgot she was there.

This isn't the first time I had to ruin my parents' sexy moments. It got to a point where they asked Lilia if I could sleep in her room for a while. She didn't look pleased at first, but agreed. We couldn't fit my bed into her room so it was decided that I would sleep with her in the same bed. This was supposed to be a temporary arrangement, but it's been a month. Lilia is practically my roommate at this point.

"I'm just going to the bathroom, I need to pee." I said.

Lilia sat up as well, reaching her glasses from the nightstand in the process. "Then… let me accompany you." She said while putting on her glasses.

I hold my hands in front of her, "I think I can manage to find my Lilia, thank you."

Lilia then lifted herself from bed, "I understand that you could, but I've been tasked with watching over you."

"Please Lilia, it's only gonna be a quick minute. I'll be right back to bed before you know it."

She wasn't buying it, "Master Rudeus, I know that you are going to interrupt your parents… activities. You've been doing it for quite some time. When they want to express their love for one another, they need some alone time."

"But they've been doing this for a while, it gets difficult to sleep when they-" I closed my mouth, knowing I slipped up with my intentions.

Lilia smirked, knowing she caught me. "I can understand your concern Master Rudeus, but there is really nothing that could fix that. All they want is to expand their family more. Don't you want to have younger siblings?"

"Not really." I said bluntly.

I don't care about having a sibling. I had siblings in my previous life. I honestly rather not deal with another rebellious younger brother… or sister.

I just don't want to hear the constant moaning from the other room while there are other people living here as well.

They should be considerant.

"Don't you get tired of their constant activity every night?" I asked.

Lilia thought for a moment before sitting back down on the bed. "I do, Master Rudeus… I do. But it shouldn't be up to you or me to invade their privacy. It really isn't any of our business what they do or shouldn't do. It is best to leave it as it is."

I could only sigh in defeat. Honestly, she was right. It isn't really my business what they do. They are a married couple, this is natural. I understand that completely. I just… it kinda reminded me of my past life at one point. I don't know why, it just does.

Maybe I am envious.

"I'm sorry, you're right."

Lilia smiled warmly, "it's alright young master. Now please, come back to bed."

"But I really do have to pee now."

Lilia lingered her eyes on me for a bit before opening her mouth, "very well. But please, come right back here when you're done. Do not take any detours."

I nodded, "yes Lilia."

With that said, I slowly opened the door and left quietly. I could hear moaning as I entered the hallway.

They are really going at it.

I really was heading to the bathroom before hearing heavy breathing. Instead of doing what I was supposed to do, I followed that heavy breathing. As I peeked around the corner, I noticed Roxy was looking into Paul and Zenith's room.

She breathes heavily as she rubs her special area. She continued watching, not stopping her motion. She then grabbed one of her breasts. That was my cue to leave as I went back to Lilia's room.

Lilia saw my quick return back, "that was fast. Was everything alright?"

"Yes Lilia, told you it would be a quick minute." I went back to bed with her.

Lilia then flipped the blanket over us. "Sleep well Master Rudeus." She said sweetly.

I saw something I shouldn't have, and now it's keeping me awake.

Maybe I am frustrated.

It was harder to close my eyes now.

I need a distraction.

So suddenly, I pulled myself closer to Lilia's chest. I hugged her tightly.

"M-master Rudeus! What's wrong?" She said in shock.

I thought maybe if I focus on a different comfort, I can tune out those distractions.

"I need some comfort."

"What should I do then?"

"Just hold me until I fall asleep."

Lilia could only be more confused but she followed my request. "Very well young master." She held me back in her arms.

I slowly closed my eyes, feeling the warmth of Lilia. She felt really soft and smelled pretty sweet. It feels really good, I didn't feel aroused or anything just… calm.

Then I could feel myself slowly falling asleep before actually falling asleep.

"Goodnight Master Rudeus."
