"I want you to run my resort for me."
It's such a simple request from me to Chester, if you ask me, but the way he freezes tells me it's a big deal to him. His pen drops, and he glitches. Then, as if in automated motion like a robot, he turns his head to face me. Slowly. So slowly, I know his bones are screeching like a rusty steel joint somewhere in his neck.
"M-me?" He stutters.
If he didn't look so serious with his shock, I swear I would have laughed at him. "Yes, Ches. You. I want you to take over and become my acting CEO. You have the qualifications for it so why not?"
Chester blinks furiously at me, like he is still in a daze. Although it's short-lived. He soon collects himself, but the way his lips twitch up tells me he is struggling to maintain his composure deep inside. He should be. Offers like this come rarely, if not never.
"When do I start?" He manages to ask with a professional demeanor.
