Chapter 2 - Thou along the wind

"A name?" Subaru asked in confusion once more

"That's right Omee, a name" The previous owner of the sword, Reid Astrea raised his finger and spoke in a high and mighty tone

"I still don't get it?" Subaru looked to his curled up hands, "like a name for a kid or something?"

"No no Omee, don't be a fool" Reid shook his head once more, he had to be more specific

"A name-" Subaru paused bringing his hand to his chin

Reid stared blankly back at Subaru, waiting for the black-haired youth to come to an obvious conclusion

"AH I GET IT!" Subaru popped up, he knew what the red head meant

"You're talking about a name for the sword aren't you!" Subaru pointed his finger towards the sword bearer, a large grin on his face

The red head replied at first with a smile, "While of course Omee, what other name would I want?" The red covered man moved his arms to the side in a gesture

Subaru paused for a second, that was right, the name of the sword… the only problem was that Subaru was completely clueless on the topic, not once did he slow down and ask any important questions, relying purely on adrenaline

The boy with nasty eyes let out a nervous chuckle, "well ya see Reid, I don't actually know the name of the sword so if-"

"Neither do I"

"EH?!" Subaru who was cut off by the red head was surprised by the sudden claim

Reid smiled in reply, this was going exceedingly well for him so far

"WHAT DO YOU MWAN YOU DON"T KNOW ITS NAME YOU WERE THE DAMN OWNER!" Subaru let out a strong reply, a little shock, of course said reply wasn't genuine

Reid shifted to an embarrassed smile, closing his one visible eye and raising both of his hands to a grabbing gesture, "Well ya see Omee, that's the whole point of the trial, if you can name the sword something cool then you get all its benefits and stuff, I can't be basis with my own name y'know?"

"Basis? What do you mean Basis? You're just damn lazy!" Subaru let out in a scolding tone shaking his head

Reid laughed in reply, despite the mean-eyed youths harsh and rather crude tone the sword god saw no problem with it, he was young, full of energy and ambition, who was he to judge the boys reactions. the four-hundred year old red head had managed to seemingly taken a liking to the boy, and he didn't want to discourage the boy, although the black-hared boy was out of line.

"So a name?" Subaru calmed down, letting the jokes slide, he looked back to Reid with a semi-serious expression

"That's right Omee, come up with a cool name and if I'll like it the swords yours" The long red haired man folded his arms and looked back to the nasty-eyed kid

"Give me a few minutes im sure I can think of something that's definitely worth both are time" Subaru nodded in a confident tone

"Of course Omee, just don't take to long" Its not like Reid had all day, keeping the kid both out of sight and containing the raw power of the dragon sword had certainly been no easy task, especially for a four-hundred year old ghost, even if he was the first Sword Saint, but it couldn't be bothered, best the two had was an hour, surely the kid couldn't take that long right?

"Excus~e me?" The clown dressed court mage spit out his tea, almost on his precious gospel nonetheless.

Rereading the texts, Roswall Mather's was at a loss, a feeling he hadn't felt in nearly four-hundred years

Natsuki Subaru was ahead of his set time, three years ahead to be precise, while the clown wouldn't have been too concerned, and he would have never doubted his Sensei's words, certain complications came into play, The first of which, the boy had been brought to Kagaragi and NOT Lugnica, no big deal right? Certainly he could fly over and swoop the boy? But that lead to the lack of a love interest and none for the boy to dedicate his heart to, nonetheless a complicated situation, one the court-mage could handle, but that was not the issue. Roswall's issue and therefore his Sensei's was not that the boy had been far away, but the fact that he had met a most problematic man. More prevalent then the Warlock Hector, more irritating then the Witch Satella, and more powerful then Roswall could ever match, Reid Astrea, once again after four-hundred years, threatened to hinder his sensei's plans, and worst of all, he was winning.

"Jussss~t what had provoked that women to bring him there I won~der?" Refrencing to the Witch of Envy, The blue haired clown rose his question to himself, half expecting an answer from his gospel

But interrupting the obsessed mans outer monologue was none other then a certain great spirit

"Just what ramblings do you speak of I suppose?" The child like figure gave a bored expression, just as Roswall remembered, she had long blonde hair that split into two drills, with butterfly eyes and a red dress, she was just as she was the day Sanctuary had risen

"Ahhhh~ well an unexpected surprise to finally meet you great spirit, I had heard many things about you from my predecessor, Im glaaa~d they're description was correct" That was right, as far as the spirit knew Roswall was nothing more then an echo, the descendant of the original Roswall A' Mather's, of course this was incorrect, considering the clown had been processing his children for generation after generation, but he'd play dumb as of now.

"Hmph, Betty has not come here to grace you with her presence, rather she has an announcement I suppose" The spirit had a slight look of pride in her face, but this led the court mage to confusion. An announcement? such a thing after a four-hundred year wait? Just what was the spirit planning, had she decided to break free of sensei's wish for her to wait for her "they"? Such a thing would be nothing but blasphemy to Roswall, but once again looking into the spirits eyes, he knew it wasn't that

"You may speak~" Roswall let his arms out with a fake smile

"Betty doesn't need you're permission, but she will talk anyways" The spirit let out a defiant grunt before continuing, "After four-hundred years of Betty waiting patiently for her they, Bettys Mother had decided to notify her, to tell her that her they would not be able to seek her out, rather that Betty's they needed to be the one seekin"

Roswall's eyes lit up, had the Witch Echidna, his teacher, really changed her plans as much to take Beatrice away from her fate? "By that you mean?" Roswall changed his tone to that of a serious one, if his sensei was not to tell him what to do but rather the spirit, he would listen.

The child like spirit paused for a second at Roswall's serious tone, but proceeded with a hint of hesitancy, "By that, Betty has been instructed by her Mother to go westward, in search for her they, to the nation of Hoshin that is, Betty has been instructed to go alone I suppose"

"To the nation of Hoshin, as in Kagaragi?" Roswall replied sharply but eagerly

"That's correct I suppose, Betty will be taking her leave at once, as for Betty's Mothers' library she has instructed for it to be taken with Betty" The spirit crossed her arms, Roswall could see the hint of worry on the spirits face, no matter how hard she tried to hide it, you get to know a person after four hundred years, even if it was limited contact.

"Ahh I see no problem with that, I wish you the best of lu~~~ccck then, dear Beatrice-sama" Roswall replied cheerfully once again completely changing his attitude

"Hmph, Betty is surprised by you're sudden change of understanding, but that is worth a tiny bit of Bettys praise I suppose" The spirit put on a stubborn act once more

"Why~ of course, I myself know how important it is to listen to the ones we love, so if it is you're Mothers desires you wish to follow, I have no reason to intercept" Roswall replied in a calm demeanor

The spirit proceeded to give one last look at the Roswall, nodding her head in conformation, "it has been fun decedent of Mathers, but Betty will take her leave now"

Roswell nodded in reply

As the spirit left the room, the realization had finally made it to the clown dressed magi's head, Roswall Mathers was finally alone, only to him and his Sensei

Drip… Drip… And another droplet followed, as if in a cave, the droplets all came at different times

But She could only hear, she could not see, she could not speak, she could not smell, but she wasn't to concerned, the feeling that backed her, the calm feeling that washed over her, it was pleasant, soothing.

Drip… Drip…

Ahh finally

"And thou is the women aren't they?"

That voice, it was cruel, scornful, archaic. But it didn't matter, its not like anything mattered her anyway

"Its rude when mine venerable self would go out of the way to talk to thou, to speak to thou, to consider thou as an equal, only for thou to ignore" The voice replied in a bitter and hurt tone, but still it didn't matter to her.

"It's a shame isn't it, that thou and mine venerable self will have to share with others then us, to feel them, to see them, all thanks to that wretched women…" The voice continued it's ramblings, but still she didn't care.

"Over and over, that women will force her will, thou won't even have a choice… And for that even mine self would have to apologize- wait hey! Are you even listening? I know I know, its boring, its rude, to be forced by another to listen, outside of your own will, by what mine self has to offer is more then just words" The voice was beginning to get irradiated, but still that didn't bother her.

"Ah, you can be so rude Ms. Hoshin, but as mine venerable self's only equal I suppose such things are fair, or are you above even thy? Thy would never like to acknowledge such things however" The archaic voice paused for a second as if realizing something, "That's it isn't it, a sage is to come, and a sage candidate thou shall be!"

Anastasia Hoshin awoke that night, not to remember the voice nor her bestowed title, but the feeling, this incredible sense of ambition and Pride, it would linger far past her dreams, for her ambition knew no ends.
