Chapter 3 - chapter 3:Drawn Curtains 1

Bethel and I sat down on the floor besides the burning fireplace, it was a cold night which we complemented with a hot cup of tea, we were able to clean the bathroom and the sitting room, where we sat now, I was feeling much better after the whole day of cleaning and my heart felt much lighter.

Ah! Bethel exclaimed, Amanda , don't you think it would have been better if the orphanage gave us an accomodation rather than the money, then we wouldn't have to be living in this lonely and abandoned neighborhood, neither would we have to be tasked with so much cleaning.

"Hmm" I had to agree, I won't lie when I say it was eerily quiet her, but for me it was bearable, but I was sure Beth was having a hard time.

"But, I still think money works just fine, Imagine if we had only an accomodation, and no money, we would have ended up begging on the streets" I said as I laughed lightly.

"True talk" but you know the money won't last forever, we would have to do something like investment.

"Bethel I called lightly,do you mind if we go for sightseeing, I think I've forgotten what most of the city look like, seeing I didn't go out a lot.

" Yeah, that'd be nice, but don't you think things would have been easier for you, if you went out of the orphanage like the other kids?

"I don't know " I answered, I wasn't just ever in the mood to leave the orphanage, not even for a minute.

Back in the orphanage, there were many activities that took us out of the orphanage, there were picnics, sightseeing, even some bighearted visitors took the kids out, as we grew older, we were allowed to mingle with other children who were not even staying at the orphanage, we were allowed to make friends, go out frequently even Beth, but I was never interested, I never liked stepping out, I liked the warmth of the orphanage and the solace it provided , ever since we were admitted there, I shut myself out and now I was facing the repercussions, Beth seemed to be handling just fine, but here I was in tumolt, drowning in uncertainties.

"Well, let's call it a day" Beth said while covering a yawn, let's sleep and when we wake, we'll wake to a day filled with sunshine, laughter, singing birds and of course endless sightseeing, she placed the empty tea cup on and old stool nearby.
