On Earth-21923, the Wasteland World, Black Panther from the Zombie Universe had become the leader of the New Avengers. For over a month, they had been waging war against the New America led by the Red Skull. The Avengers were crushing the Red Skull, who was being beaten so severely that he went mad and began cloning a super-human army using superhero DNA to resist the New Avengers.
"Most of the old timers have retired, maintaining order in the wasteland. Just the other day, we found Juggernaut's retired bar. Guess what?" Old Man Hawkeye said as he showed the spiders around New Vegas. "Hey, we found Deadpool's head in the tank he uses for his moonshine!"
"...You guys didn't resurrect Deadpool, did you?"
Peter was surprised. The Wasteland Universe shouldn't be short on people now. Black Panther had filtered a new batch of survivors from various universes to form a vigorous New Avengers, including his own dismembered self, the Scarlet Witch from the Zombie World, Dazzler, X-23 (now Wolverine) from the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe world, Viv Vision (the synthezoid daughter of the Wasteland Vision) and Ashley Barton, the new Spider-Woman—two who wouldn't be affected by age in the wasteland.
It was a cobbled-together Avengers team.
Yet, this cobbled-together Avengers team was hammering the Red Skull into the ground, which only proved that combat power was truly an abstract thing.
"I thought my world was bad enough," Spider-Gwen looked at New Vegas, which was half-wasteland and half-modern, and felt shocked: "I never thought there'd be a world where the heroes were wiped out."
"It's the infinite multiverse. Anything is possible. If you had seen the Zombie Universe, you wouldn't think this place was so bad."
Peter lamented helplessly. Miguel glanced at him when he heard that: "There's actually such a thing as a 'Zombie Universe'?"
"Yeah, we blew one up, but there are at least two left. Be careful, Miguel, don't accidentally fall into one."
Miguel was silent for a moment, genuinely baffled as to why something called a "Zombie Universe" could exist. It was too bizarre.
"The location for you guys is pretty much chosen. It's in the former Hulk's territory. The Red Skull dropped quite a few nukes there trying to kill that old man Banner. That rotten place has a lot of nuclear radiation. It should meet your requirements."
Hearing Old Man Hawkeye's words, Miguel was silent again, then looked at Peter with confusion: "Why do you want a place with high nuclear radiation to build our base?"
"Do you remember those other-universe Spider-Men I told you about?"
Peter was, of course, referring to the Spider-Hulk who came from an unknown Earth, entered Earth-65, and gave Cindy Moon of Earth-65 her spider abilities. When he heard that other Spider-Men could also cross the multiverse, Miguel was very surprised. He also listened to Peter's description of the so-called Spider-Army and how it included individuals who could conquer their entire universe with their own power, break through the cosmic barrier, and actively enter the multiverse.
These individuals were very dangerous. What was more dangerous was that their numbers were constantly expanding.
"One of the conditions these people gave the recruited Spiders was to help them resist an invasion by a race called the Inheritors. The Inheritors are a species that survives by draining life energy, and the abundant life force of a Spider-Totem is their favorite food. I don't want to exaggerate, but when a Spider-Totem faces an Inheritor, they are practically defenseless."
Of course, since Peter Parker brought this up, it meant he had a solution, so Miguel waited for Peter to continue without interrupting.
"However, they are very dependent on pure life energy. For example, it's questionable whether they can absorb the gamma radiation energy from Spider-Hulk. Furthermore, they cannot absorb life energy contaminated by nuclear radiation, and the nuclear radiation itself is deadly to them."
"So, this will be an absolutely safe safe house," Miguel understood. "I'll go back to Earth-928 right away, prepare the engineering equipment, and start building the base here. Then I'll contact as many Spider-Men as possible to join us. Peter Parker from Earth-700 is an excellent candidate."
At this point, Peter couldn't help but marvel at the power of the Spider-Army. Based on the cosmic barrier Strange discovered, it was highly likely that the Spider-Sorcerer Supreme could use magic to protect the universe from dimensional travelers, which must be incredibly powerful magic.
"What about me?" Spider-Gwen asked expectantly. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Wait, and accept special training once the training room is built."
Miguel looked at Gwen very coldly: "As a Spider-Man, you're too weak. You're even among the weakest Spider-Men I've ever seen. You need training."
Gwen was instantly unhappy, but it was true: she was too weak.
They had a lot more to do. To deal with the future Inheritors and other crises, Spider-City must start moving now. The Spider-Army was already one step ahead of them; they couldn't afford to be any slower.
"Alright, since we've discussed everything, it's time to go home." Peter was finally relieved, seeing that everything was mostly arranged. He planned to use Reed Richards' portal to get back quickly, and incidentally reduce the weakening of the reality barrier. If he were alone, he could use the bracelet Miguel gave him, but the problem was that Miguel's bracelet was single-user, and neither Gwen nor Connors could use it.
Of course, there was one more thing he needed to ask.
"Just a quick question," Peter asked the Gwen from his universe: "You didn't bring any of that Spider-Isotope serum with you, did you?"
"No, why?"
"Are you sure?"
"I'm really sure, no."
Gwen blinked innocently. Peter stared at her for a moment, then chose to trust her, only reminding her once more: "That kind of serum is what bad guys love most. If it's ever discovered, the entire Manhattan could become Spider-Island."
"So, I won't bring it back."
After getting Gwen's assurance, Peter and Gwen prepared to pass through the multiverse portal in New Vegas. Before they left, Spider-Gwen called out to Peter.
"Peter, do you think... Aunt May and Uncle Ben will forgive me?"
"They will accept all of this."
That was the only thing Peter could leave her with.
Peter, Gwen, and Connors stepped through the Multiverse Transporter. Unexpectedly, they passed through a golden portal and did not enter the Baxter Building.
They arrived at the Sanctum Santorum.
