If Spider-Man were still Peter Parker, he would undoubtedly live at 20 Ingram Street in Forest Hills, Queens. After telling Venom to hide, Gwen took the subway all the way back. On the way, she glanced at her own house—it felt like it had been abandoned for a long time.
Out of curiosity, she went to her house before going to the Parkers' but found the key was different. Thankfully, Venom's liquid form allowed her to pick the lock easily, and she slipped inside.
She then discovered that the Parkers' neighbors were no longer the Stacys. Apart from the room layout, there was no trace of her or her father having lived there. After searching carefully twice, she quickly slipped out before anyone noticed.
She learned her lesson and used the spider abilities granted by Venom to sneak up to the second floor of the Parkers' house. The area seemed very different. She slipped through Peter's bedroom window, only to find the room had been turned into a storeroom, almost entirely stacked with boxes.
"Okay, well, at least this is still the Parkers' house."
Finding some of Peter's old toys, Gwen sighed. But the question remained: where was Peter Parker?
[The house is empty now.]
Huh? Is that so?
Gwen tiptoed down to the first floor. The layout here hadn't changed much. Photos of the Parker family were on the wall. She saw some pictures of Uncle Ben and Aunt May looking much older, photos she'd never seen before, but they were smiling happily.
Gwen placed her hand in front of the photos, scanning through them one by one.
There were pictures of Peter, not just the current Peter she remembered, but also an older Peter. Besides those, there was a picture of herself and Peter together...
Her hand stopped. The photo of her and Peter wasn't an ordinary one; it was a wedding photo.
"I... er... oh, this is a parallel universe, right? Gwen, relax... it's just a parallel universe."
Gwen took a deep breath and stepped back.
"So, the Peter and I of this world got married when we grew up... and, er... they must have moved out? Uncle Ben and Aunt May used to live here, but they don't live here now, right?"
Venom remained silent, just watching Gwen finish her performance. Only after she fled the Parker house and began swinging away on a web did Venom speak up.
[Do you like Peter?]
Gwen nearly hit a wall, quickly switching webs before she regained her composure.
"Me? I... I don't know."
"We're really good friends. We've known each other since we were kids. We were neighbors after his parents died, so we know each other pretty well... If you asked me about dating Peter or something, I guess I'd say I don't hate the idea?"
Gwen was a bit flustered, swinging aimlessly through Manhattan. But then, the spider-sense that Venom provided screamed, and Gwen quickly dodged.
"Whoa there, Miss. I didn't know you were so nimble."
A slightly more mature, yet still familiar voice drifted over. Swinging beside her was an obviously older, more mature Spider-Man. He tried to stop Gwen while saying, "I'm sorry, Miss, but a symbiote isn't something to play with."
"What? I'm not—" In just a few seconds, Gwen realized what was happening. She quickly landed on a nearby wall and waved her hand. "Hey, I'm not a bad guy!"
"Hmm... maybe, but you definitely don't know what you've attached yourself to, Miss."
Spider-Man landed next to her. Gwen was speechless for a moment, but quickly figured out what to do. As she pulled down the mask of her symbiote suit, she said:
"Alright, but you're not going to believe this."
Gwen took off her mask, looking at the bewildered adult version of Spider-Man in front of her.
"I'm Gwen Stacy from another world."
When Cindy Moon woke up, she couldn't believe what had happened to her body.
She had grown taller, or rather, older?
No, that wasn't right. She felt like she'd had a dream about when she was still in high school.
She climbed out of bed. She was now living alone in an apartment in New York. A photo of her and Peter hung on the wall.
She quickly made herself breakfast. The doorbell rang. She opened the door to find Peter holding some drinks.
"Morning, Cindy. Want to eat breakfast together?"
He's here. I can sense him.
That was all Cindy Moon could feel for just a moment. But quickly, she snapped out of it and sharply questioned the Peter Parker in front of her.
"Where is he?!"
"Hey, baby, what's wrong? What happened?!"
"Where! Is! He!"
Cindy swung a punch filled with anger, but she hit nothing. The moment she threw the punch, she reappeared, now back to her high school self, on a beautiful field. The field was covered with plants she'd never seen before. The morning sun hung to one side, illuminating everything in this world.
Cindy looked around in confusion. She could feel Peter wasn't far away, but she couldn't see him. She looked around and saw a golden figure collapsed on the ground.
It was the alien named Adam.
Cindy seemed to grasp something. She ran over and helped Adam up. Adam appeared relatively conscious but was extremely weak.
"You... you woke up?"
Adam looked at Cindy in surprise. Cindy, in silence, asked him in return, "What happened? Where is this place?"
"This is inside the Soul Stone. The Soul Stone holds a pocket universe that can sustain life."
Adam began to explain what had happened: "Kang tried to destroy Korvac, but he failed. The intense power leaked out, and that power could easily kill all of us. So I urgently used the power of the Soul Stone to teleport everyone inside."
"Also, this is a chance to help Korvac complete his personality. The Soul Stone can see through a person's heart and desires, constructing the best world you can imagine. I hoped Korvac could use these worlds to perfect his personality. I didn't expect you to wake up so quickly."
The heart's... desired world...
So, the world she was just in was just her fantasy?
Feeling a little regretful for having destroyed that world, Cindy blushed and pulled up her mask before asking Adam:
"Then what should we do next?"
"I need to maintain this world here. You must do me a favor—I brought Kang the Conqueror in too. You must stop him from finding Korvac and causing secondary destruction."
Cindy sensed the location of Peter Parker, then nodded.
She had to find Peter.
