"Hey, web-head!"
Human Torch (Johnny) was full of his usual fiery enthusiasm, greeting Peter with a hug. Peter didn't mind, feeling that Johnny had always been friendly to him, perhaps since that incident where Mysterio nearly burned him to death. Aside from being a little simple-minded, the guy was generally decent.
[I don't like him.]
It'd be strange if a symbiote liked a walking, talking human torch.
"Excuse me, Johnny, could you ask Spider-Man to come over here for a moment? I need some help from people who understand science, thanks."
Reed's comment caused Johnny to shrug his shoulders in annoyance. Hearing the request, Mar-Vell walked over with curiosity. "Excuse me, I consider myself something of a scientist as well. Perhaps I can be of assistance."
"Oh, I've heard of you. Welcome, welcome. I was just looking forward to learning about the technological level of the Kree Empire."
Reed smiled, completely unfazed by the fact that Mar-Vell was supposedly an alien spy. Of course, Mar-Vell wasn't really much of a spy; the reason he was assigned the mission to contact the Inhumans , which even the Kree Empire thought was a lost cause, was to slack off at work. His time on Earth was his chance to relax and goof off. As long as the Inhumans weren't confirmed to be nonexistent, he could keep staying, pretending to be an Earth scientist and helping them with what amounted to 'elementary school homework.'
As Thor dropped Korvac, carrying him with Korg, the Fantastic Four's Fantasticar's scanning device immediately scanned Korvac. Reed, with zero sense of personal space, stretched his head (only his head) out in front of Korvac. After a careful look, he returned to review the data reports.
"Hmm... he is an entity composed purely of energy. What we are seeing now is merely the phenomenon of that energy solidifying in reality, which is quite fascinating. This energy is constantly dissipating and transforming."
"The Kree Empire once tried to study the energy source of the Cosmic Cube but learned nothing," Mar-Vell said, manipulating a projected console. He doubted Reed Richards could discover anything, yet Reed, after looking at the report for a moment, said quite matter-of-factly, "There is no energy source."
"No... no energy source? Then where is the energy coming from?"
"From the Multiverse. No, that's not quite right, either. The vibrational frequency in his body indicates that he does belong to our universe, but because he is pure energy, upon entering this universe, he immediately became a part of our universe's laws of physics. That is extremely clever."
Reed Richards adjusted his glasses, speaking words that were almost incomprehensible to those around him. As he spoke, he pulled up the data from his past investigation into the Tesseract , which he had done at SHIELD's request: "I once studied the Tesseract, and it bears a slight resemblance to the Cosmic Cube. Now it appears that his human form and the Tesseract's essence are the same: they are both a container, an enclosure. Their nature is to protect the item within."
"The Cosmic Cube started as a simple cube," someone interjected.
"I believe Dr. Richards means that the Cosmic Cube, whether in Korvac's current body or in its cube form, is just an outer shell, an enclosure," Peter took over for Reed, then asked Mar-Vell, "I'm guessing someone in the Kree Empire once tried to replicate the Cosmic Cube but failed, right?"
Mar-Vell did not answer, but the result was obvious: the Kree Empire had indeed tried to create their own Cosmic Cube and failed.
"When the Tesseract is activated and outputs energy, the surrounding dark matter changes. This suggests that the Tesseract, or rather the Infinity Stones ,fundamentally draw energy from within this universe. While they are powerful and mysterious, from an energy observation perspective, they are still matter of this universe. That's also why the Infinity Stones release gamma rays—they are undergoing decay."
The Cosmic Cube, however, released no radioactive materials and caused no change in dark matter. This meant that the Infinity Stones' power came from within the universe, while the Cosmic Cube's power came from outside the universe.
"Perhaps we need your ability, Spider-Man. We need you to tear open a rift in the Multiverse to see where this power is actually coming from. The best location would be the Baxter Building," Reed mused, stroking his chin. Then he suddenly realized something. "Perhaps that's it..."
"Doctor, what is it?"
Peter looked at Reed. Reed rapidly ran calculations on the console, then shouted at Korvac: "Mr. Korvac? Care to take a few steps?"
Everyone: ???
"Just two steps, please, thank you."
Korvac, confused, took two steps. Reed then smiled and enlarged the projected data: "It's confirmed. When Korvac moves, the Einstein-Rosen Bridge effect actually occurs. The surrounding gravitational constant changes, but is immediately corrected by himself."
Reed proudly displayed his results: "The so-called Cosmic Cube is actually a wormhole, a spatial rift, protected by some kind of container. The energy from that other universe is constantly leaking and overflowing. This energy is extremely powerful, which is why it can manipulate reality."
"Because of this, the method for sending Korvac home is very simple—he can go back on his own. He himself is a spatial rift!"
Everyone looked back at Korvac, who nervously shook his head: "No, no, I can't do it. I've tried, I can't do it!"
"According to Kree Empire records, Korvac's current personality is incomplete. We first need to help him construct a complete personality before he can send himself back," Mar-Vell said, amazed by Reed's abilities. He had, however, already stated how to get Korvac back.
The problem now was how to give him a complete personality.
In the distance, to avoid detection by Spider-Man and Korvac, Kang the Conqueror observed everything with a drone. He had heard Reed Richards' explanation of the Cosmic Cube's essence, and an idea sparked in his mind. He quickly returned to his empire.
"Retrieve all reports on spatial theory from the 21st century onwards. Study how to repair the issue of a cosmic rift."
Kang returned to his throne and ordered his subordinates. This might take months, or even years, of research, but it didn't matter.
He was Kang the Conqueror. While only a second passed for Spider-Man and his friends, he had infinite time to accomplish all of this.
