Chapter 7 - Never Apologize

"Good afternoon." The man greeted back, far more cheerful than he should have. His eyes fell on her breasts, and Kaitlyn stiffened under his stare, wishing this was not a meeting so she could walk out. Unfortunately, it was and she was stuck here, a professional smile on her face, sitting beside her boss as this perverted man used his eyes to undress her.

"Gerald, This is Ms Davids, my assistant. She will serve as a witness." Lennox said pulling the man's attention from Kaitlyn.

Lennox pulled out the documents that needed signing and dropped it in front of him, cutting to the chase.

"Ms Davids, where are you from?" The man said turning again to Kaitlyn with a smile.

"African." She answered shortly, with another forced smile, her discomfort only increasing as the man licked his bottom lip, and then took a sip of his tea.

"Wonderful, you must have a native name then."

"Osas." She answered again, just wanting the conversation to end.

"O-saase." He pronounced, completely butchering her name.

She had never heard her name so poorly pronounced.

"Gerald, let's not delay you." Lennox interrupted, handing him a pen. His voice sounded sharp, you could tell he was losing his patience.

"Yes, of course." The man shook his head and faced the documents, signing where needed.

"I look forward to working with you." The man said, looking up at a scowling backwards and then at the woman by his side; Lennox's fist balleExits forced a smile now playing on his lips. He handed back the document, and Lennox handed it over to Kaitlyn.

"Kaitlyn, you can take these to the car; I will be with you shortly." She nodded then grabbed her bag and gave a very short nod to the other gentleman not waiting to observe his facial reaction, before striding away, thankful she didn't have to sit there any

longer.

Not too long after we got into the car, Lennox came in as well. His mood was worse than coloured ever seen; he wore a thin-lipped frown, and his eyes were furious.

His jaw was stiff and the fist Kaitlyn could see was balled up, showing the veins that decorated the palm of his hand. She flinched. Maybe she should have been nicer to the perverted guest, she thought to herself.

Remembering her short straight to point one-worded reply, also she was sure her face betrayed her now and then showed how annoyed or frustrated she was.

"I am so sorry." She apologized, his voice small.

Lennox turned to look at her, anger still flaring in his eyes, only now his perfect brows knitted together questioning her to explain herself.

"I should have been nicer to Mr Gerald; I am sorry." She apologized again. He didn't say a word, almost like her apology made him even more angry.

Kaitlyn sighed, looking away; of course, she had to piss him off on her first day. The ride back to the office was in awkward silence, neither of the two saying a word.

Just like earlier in the afternoon, everybody on the elevator came off as they saw the CEO. Leaving Kaitlyn completely alone with him, she could feel the tension between them significantly increase.

"Don't you ever apologize because of a creep?' She heard him say, he sounded like he was fuming, and her eyes widened in surprise at his words. The elevator doors slid open and he walked out without another word, leaving her there, shocked, trailing behind him like a confused, scolded puppy.

It was 7:35 pm on the clock, and Kaitlyn didn't have anything more crucial to do. She hadn't been called on since lunch, she felt like she was being avoided now.

Even when she spoke to him or gave him a heads up that someone was about to walk in or she checked in on an appointment, he gave her one-word replies and wouldn't spare her even a short glance or nod.

He was still in his office, looking through documents she had delivered to him earlier. She couldn't leave but she felt uneasy just leaving him in his office alone, not offering help. She stood up and then walked over to the door they shared, pausing for a short while before taking a deep breath then knocking.

"Come in." She heard him say. She let herself in, regretting it almost immediately. He was standing over his desk, papers spread on the glass furniture while he stood over them looking too tempting.

His 3 piece was now left with his shirt, 3 buttons undone, his tie nowhere in sight, leaving his perfectly hard chest bare and naked for her to see. His sleeves were rolled up, letting her see the veins she had peaked earlier, they snaked up his strong arms.

"Sorry for disturbing you." She said, slapping herself mentally as she walked closer, stopping at a safe distance from him. "I was wondering if you needed anything. Some coffee? Or I could give you a hand." She offered.

He still didn't look at her.

"No thank you." He said, still not looking at her, his attention still on his desk, a pen in his hand, his eyes scrutinizing the papers in front of him.

"Are you sure?"

"I don't mind." She said offering again, feeling guilty for getting him in a bad mood.

"Go home." He ordered.

"I could help and we could get this done much faster." She protested, taking two steps closer.

Her words made him stop in his tracks, standing up straight, this time looking at her with his hands crossed, showing off even more of his perfect sculpt. His eyes were unreadable, she wished she could hear what he was thinking. His reactions never gave him away.

"We wouldn't get any work done." His tone was pitched lower.

Kaitlyn felt the familiar feeling of air leaving her lungs, when would he stop having such an effect on her? "I'll just..." She stammered, stumbling on her words. She shuffled in one spot for a while under his stare, then decided it was safer for her to leave.

After a few deep breaths and some counting, Kaitlyn felt almost okay. At least her breathing did, her mind did not. A little voice in her head told her to walk back into the office and insist on staying, while a tinier voice told her to go into his office and kiss him and allow him to finish what they had started nights ago.
