Chapter 1 - The Stranger

Kaitlyn was lied to all her life, lied to the face many more times than she could count. She could easily trace back her first lie to her parents when she just started school. They constantly told her, "If you work hard enough, you can get whatever you want, wherever you dream of," and "Always work the hardest." she always remembered them. She believed them, so she did just what they said. She worked hard, very hard, harder than everyone else. She bled for what she wanted, what she dreamed of. She fought for everything she got and fought even harder to get more. Other lies she was told were for teachers and professors, telling her she was bound to go far,

telling her she was going somewhere.

So Kaitlyn worked so hard that she graduated top of her class, younger than she was supposed to. Then she worked so hard that she got two degrees, two masters, and a doctorate. All in good merit, all at the top of her class.

Kaitlyn embodied what people would think of when it came to being 'Academically perfect.' Yet nobody would have thought she would be where she was today. With all the lies Kaitlyn had been told, she was barely surprised when the bartender lied about the drink he served her. Bourbon, that was what she had asked for. Yet somehow, in her hand, was something but bourbon. She barely had it in her to argue, she was too exhausted. Besides, maybe the fidgety white boy had a lot on his plate.

Kaitlyn took the last sip of her drink and then placed the empty glass back on the bar table. She placed a five-dollar bill under the cup stood up, grabbed her bag and coat then headed

straight for the door.

As she walked her head was faced down, distracted by finding her phone in her bag. Suddenly she felt herself hit a wall and gasped.

Kaitlyn looked up to find out she hadn't hit a wall, thankfully. She hit something far better. Towering over her was a possibly 6'4 dark-skinned man; his body, as evident to her bumping into him, was well sculpted. Even as he wore a three-piece suit and a very expensive-looking black coat, she could still tell that he spent hours in the gym; if he didn't look so sophisticated, she would tag him as an athlete.

He was not an athlete, athletes couldn't dream of looking like the man who towered over her. They could only dream of it. His skin looked far too rich to be in any sport; his gaze looked too serious about signing autographs and smiling for cameras, and his scent? He smelt too much like power for him to be an athlete.

"Pardon me," he finally spoke. His voice was too smooth, smooth and rich, and too controlled to be an athlete. Even his apology sounded like a command, and his eyes were too compelling to say otherwise.

"It's fine, I should pay attention to where I'm going." Kaitlyn stuttered.

"Where are you going?" he questioned.

Kaitlyn felt her throat close, she felt her body temperature pick up the scale despite it being January in Seattle.

"Outside," Kaitlyn answered.

"And I wanted to buy you a drink," he said as he watched Kaitlyn chuckle. "Maybe I can do something else to get you to be in my presence a while longer. Would you mind me giving you a ride?" he offered.

On a normal day, Kaitlyn would decline his offer. If he were a regular guy, she most definitely would. However, circumstances were very different tonight.

Tonight, she found herself completely and utterly compelled to the handsome and charming stranger; she couldn't say no. Yet she was too stunned to reply.

"Consider it my proper apology for bumping into you." He said.

His tongue grazed his bottom lip, it was very much evident to Kaitlyn that he was staring at her lips. She could feel her cheeks warm up.

"I couldn't possibly decline a free ride."

The man opened the door and led her to his car. His car proved again that he was not an athlete; he opened the passenger door for her, and she got in.

She felt very small in the very expensive car, her back stiffened as she tried to be careful not to rip anything or mark anything.

Not too long the gentleman was in the driver's seat. Soon after, he started his engine. The ride was pretty quiet, but more comfortable than it could have been.

He asked a few questions; if she was warm enough, her address, the street he could pass. In less than 20 minutes, they were at her apartment complex.

"Thank you," Kaitlyn said as he opened up the car for her.

She stepped out, grabbing all her belongings.

"My pleasure."

"Would..."

"Would you like to come in, maybe have a drink?" She proposed. "Maybe tea." She offered.

"I would love to."

Soon after, both of them were in Kaitlyn's simple apartment. She had offered him a seat by her kitchen counter, while she was busy making some tea.

He sat patiently, almost as if he was enjoying the view. A subtle smile grazed his face as he watched her reach for the tea, the sugar. Bending over slightly to bring out the cups, even the way she placed things on the counter amused him.

Despite how out of place he looked in such a small kitchen, he sat there comfortably like he was familiar with her. So his eyes followed her every movement, like a reflex movement.

Kaitlyn was a bit tense, but not as tense as earlier. She was a bit relaxed as she pounced around gracefully in her kitchen, doing something as mundane as making the handsome gentleman some tea.

Although he looked odd in his three-piece seat in her very cheap apartment. She did not seem scared, especially with the fact that strange men barely came up to her apartment.

"Here you go." She said as she poured some of the hot water into the tea bag in his cup, then poured some for herself, before returning the kettle to the stove.

"Thank you." He appreciated.

Compared to the teacup, he appeared like a giant. Yet all his movements didn't come off as uncomfortable or anxious.

"So where were you coming from?" He questioned before taking a sip of his tea.

"Sorry?" Kaitlyn asked.

"You look dressed up like you are trying to impress. Not like I'm complaining, I also noticed the full bag you've been clutching to. Work? School maybe?"

"Interviews," Kaitlyn said exhaling, dreading the topic. It was probably her 100th interview, and despite how qualified she was, they never had a place for her.

"Oh." Was all he said, as if sensing her mood.

"Business?" He asked.

"And Econs."

"Impressed." He said before standing to his feet. He walked to the other side of the counter, Kaitlyn's eyes followed him, curiously, Yet she stood cemented to a place.

He stopped over the sink and placed his cup in it, rushing the water a little bit. "Thank you for the tea..." He said pausing mid-sentence as if realizing something.

He turned to face her, taking steps toward her, leaving barely 2 inches of space between them. She could feel his heat radiating from him.

"I didn't get your name." He said.

She could feel his warm breath fanning her cheek. He was leaning in, and his nose was barely an inch from her skin; she could already feel him; her breath was caught in her throat somewhere, not making it out successfully. However, at this point, she felt like she didn't need her breath.

She took a step back hoping to get some air and clear her mind. His closeness to her didn't give her space to think, it made her irrational. Her back met with the kitchen counter, signalling that she couldn't move further.

"Kaitlyn." She managed to speak, deciding to give a name he could pronounce.

"Kaitlyn, It's nice to meet you." He said, using his hand to trace her cheek.

Kaitlyn shut her eyes, feeling her legs wobble at his delicate touch. Kaitlyn slapped herself mentally for wanting him closer, wanting more.

Suddenly she felt his lips on hers, making her wish come true. She drowned in the kiss immediately. Lust. His kiss was filled with lust and hunger, but it wasn't rushed. Lust-driven but soft, sensual. Causing Kaitlyn to moan in his mouth, making him growl roughly and tighten his grip on her.

The kiss only got deeper, each person searching for more. More pleasure, more of each other. Finding each other in one deep and sensual kiss.

They were both strangers to one another, yet their lips felt all too familiar with themselves; they were in perfect synch, in perfect amity with one another.

Kaitlyn felt her handsome stranger's lips unlatch hers, finding a place on her neck. She gasped at the sudden feeling of his warm lips on her bare skin, like he knew exactly where to kiss, exactly how to grip her waist so it wouldn't hurt but she would still squirm at his touch and feel a shiver run down her spine every time he gripped a little tighter.

His warm kisses made her undone, clinging to his hands while her fingers instinctively found one of his beautifully engraved cuffs, uncuffing it, making it fall clumsily to the floor.

Kaitlyn moaned as she felt him suck harder on the crook of her neck. Ecstasy filled her with every passing moment. He knew exactly what he was doing. Abruptly they both heard a phone ring, stopping both of them in their tracks and leaving them

both in a heaving mess.
