Nestled in the northeastern reaches of Laurent, the province of Noviskosha featured jagged mountains that loomed across the land like a scar. Its mines were infamous across the continent for promising fortunes that were capable of securing wealth for generations. Despite its treasure troves of magic ore and raw gems, however, few people actually lived in the province. Instead, the majority of Noviskosha was populated by the bright-eyed hopefuls that swarm there every year with dreams of striking gold. The Laurent imperial family decreed that whoever plants their flag on unclaimed land first earns ownership of the mines beneath it. The city hall building was covered in slogans that all fed into the idealistic dream of finding fortune.
