Aerodactyl, with Ace's help, entered its Mega Evolution mode.
Its speed instantly soared after Mega Evolution, leaving a deafening sonic boom as it flew, quickly chasing after a streak of electric light ahead.
"I've already caught Cosmog, and I've collected most of the Z-Crystals, so the remaining side quests are to enter the Ultra Wormhole and catch an Ultra Beast."
Ace looked through the protective barrier surrounding him at the streak of electricity ahead, a look of confusion in his eyes. "But why is it appearing together with an Ultra Beast? I feel like I must figure this out to complete the Ultra Wormhole task."
As he spoke, Aerodactyl's speed increased again. In an instant, it caught up to the electric streak, accelerated, and zipped right in front of it.
Seeing this, the electric streak immediately shot a bolt of lightning toward Aerodactyl.
Aerodactyl furiously flapped its wings, and a tornado instantly blocked the space between them.
The lightning struck through the tornado, but its direction was also twisted by the vortex, sending it away from Aerodactyl to strike empty air.
In the brief exchange, the electric streak also temporarily halted, revealing its figure to Ace.
"I didn't see wrong. It's Zeraora."
Ace looked at the bipedal great cat before him, its eyes filled with vigilance. He smiled slightly and stretched out his hand toward Zeraora. "Little kitty, how about a battle with me?"
Zeraora's eyes narrowed. It instantly turned into an electric streak, launching a Plasma Fists attack toward Aerodactyl.
"Impressive power."
Aerodactyl remained still. Instead, Ace opened a Premier Ball, and Blissey rushed out, throwing a punch that collided with Zeraora's Plasma Fists.
"Dong!"
The collision of the two fists caused strong winds to run wild. Zeraora felt a massive force hit it and was immediately sent flying, shooting into the sea like a cannonball.
Aerodactyl slowly descended with Ace. Ace tossed a Premier Ball, and Lapras appeared, instantly condensing a large sheet of ice, providing a foothold for Ace and his Pokémon.
"Splash!"
Zeraora burst out of the water and landed on the ice, its eyes fixed on Ace and his Pokémon with solemnity.
Ace was also watching Zeraora with a grin. If an Ultra Beast had burst out of the Ultra Wormhole, Ace wouldn't have cared, as that would fit the setting.
But for a Zeraora to emerge from the Ultra Wormhole, that was strange.
Whether to complete the side quest or to learn some intelligence about the Ultra Wormhole, Ace had to capture the Zeraora before him.
Blissey took a few steps forward and crooked its finger at Zeraora, signaling the opponent to bring it on.
Seeing this, Zeraora immediately dashed forward, using Spark (Electric Flash) to quickly close in on Blissey.
Blissey's eyes showed a hint of interest. It reached out and pulled, and a Light Screen blocked its front.
"Kacha!"
Plasma Fists slammed onto the Light Screen, shattering it instantly.
The Plasma Fists were easily caught by Blissey, but Blissey's body was now covered with a layer of faint blue electric light.
Ace knew clearly that this layer of faint blue electric light could turn Normal-type attacks into Electric-type attacks.
And with its Volt Absorb ability, Electric-type attacks would not harm Zeraora; instead, they would restore its wounds.
However...
That was the explanation in the game. In reality, even if it could absorb the Electric-type attack, the attack's impact force still had to be fully taken by the recipient.
"Seismic Toss,"
Ace said lightly. Blissey, gripping Zeraora's fist, suddenly exerted force, tossing Zeraora into the air like a small cat. It then spun around and delivered a devastating slam, smashing Zeraora fiercely onto the ice.
"Boom!"
In an instant, the ice surface shattered. Lapras looked at Blissey with a hint of resentment; after all, it was maintaining the ice surface.
Although Blissey did not use its full strength, the fact that it shattered the ice in a single strike demonstrated the gap between the two Pokémon.
The ice surface froze and gathered again. Zeraora emerged from the water, looking somewhat disheveled, and lay on the outer edge of the ice.
Seeing this, Ace directly took out an empty Great Ball and threw it toward Zeraora.
Zeraora saw the Great Ball coming, forced its body up, and swung its hand, batting the Great Ball away.
"Still want to fight?"
Ace was slightly surprised. Zeraora was hit to near-zero health with that last attack, yet it still had the strength to resist capture.
Ace looked at the defiant and unyielding Zeraora, and was inexplicably intrigued.
Snapping his fingers, Blissey hit Zeraora with a Healing Pulse. Zeraora stood up, sensing the rapidly recovering power within its body, slightly confused.
"Since I've decided to catch you, I must have you fully submit."
Ace smiled. After restoring Zeraora to its peak condition, Blissey charged at Zeraora again.
Zeraora looked grave. With a flash, it dodged Blissey's attack.
The previous experience taught Zeraora that going head-to-head with the opponent's Blissey would definitely end badly for itself.
If that was the case.
Zeraora began utilizing its speed, playing hit-and-run with Blissey. It used long-range attacks to slowly wear down Blissey.
Blissey was in no hurry to take Zeraora down. It slowly defended against the attacks, observing Zeraora's limits.
When it felt like the fun was over, Blissey moved.
In just an instant, Blissey turned into an afterimage, vanishing from its spot.
Zeraora looked at Blissey's speed in disbelief. It tried to dodge, but it was already too late.
Blissey concentrated its power and then delivered a punch to Zeraora's abdomen.
Zeraora suffered a heavy blow, its eyes involuntarily bulging.
It then limply collapsed onto the ice surface.
Lapras retrieved the Great Ball that Zeraora had batted away and returned it to Ace.
Ace threw the Great Ball this time, and Zeraora was completely unable to resist, quickly being drawn inside the Great Ball.
The Great Ball shook a few times before stopping completely.
Ace walked over, picked up the Great Ball, and with the Aura (Viridian Power) surging, he placed his hand on the Great Ball.
"Now, let me see. In your memories, what exactly is going on with all of this."
The Aura flowed into Zeraora, healing it. Simultaneously, Zeraora's most recent memories surfaced in Ace's mind.
Ace watched carefully, and then a look of surprise appeared on his face.
"So that's what happened."
Ace looked thoughtfully at the Great Ball containing Zeraora, his expression serious. "It looks like I absolutely have to make a trip to the Ultra Wormhole. I wonder when Cosmog will be able to evolve."
