The unconsciousness caused by the Lord God's teleportation varied depending on each person's physical constitution and strength.
Except for Nawaki himself, anyone possessing S-rank level power could fully resist the disorienting effects of intra-world teleportation.
After a short wait, the first to awaken was a young girl—a loli with a round little face and long, blood-red hair. She rubbed her eyes as she sat up, then quickly flipped to her feet and took a defensive stance on the grass.
"Where… am I? …Huh? Big Brother Nawaki?"
It was none other than Kushina Uzumaki, the girl who had recently met Nawaki—and even shared the same hot spring with him.
Blessed with a Sage Body and the Nine-Tails sealed within her, she was naturally the first to regain consciousness.
Noticing her confusion, Nawaki shrugged.
"Don't ask me—I have no idea either. I was just sunbathing at home, and the next thing I knew, I woke up here."
As he spoke, Nawaki glanced over at a nearby boy who appeared to still be unconscious—Nagato.
He also possessed a Sage Body and should've awoken around the same time as Kushina. Yet he hadn't moved at all—clearly faking sleep.
Kushina looked unsure, but quickly reasoned that Nawaki had no reason to abduct her, so she stepped closer and plopped down beside him. Hugging her knees, she began surveying the others still lying on the ground—and soon noticed someone familiar.
"Minato? Why's he here too?"
"You know him?" Nawaki asked curiously.
"Of course. He's my classmate at the Academy," Kushina said with a pout. "But he's kind of a weirdo. Always acting spacey. No idea why he'd end up here."
"So he's from Konoha too?"
Nawaki thought for a moment, then began analyzing the situation out loud.
"We're Konoha ninja. Those two over there have headbands from Sunagakure, which makes them Sand ninja. And these three boys… their outfits don't look like they're from the Land of Fire either. So who brought us here without a trace? And why?"
As he spoke, the other unconscious figures began to stir.
The full group now awake included:
– Two chunin from Sunagakure,
– Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan,
– Nawaki, Kushina, and Minato.
Eight people in total—this mission's full participant roster.
Everyone listened to Nawaki's analysis in silence, each furrowing their brow in thought.
One of the Sand ninja, who had tied his forehead protector around his face like a mask, snorted and stepped toward Nawaki with a scowl.
"Hey, brat. You were the first to wake up? Tell us everything you know. Now."
Nawaki frowned but hadn't responded yet when Kushina stood up, brows arched sharply.
"I woke up just a few minutes before you guys, along with Big Brother Nawaki! We don't know anything more than you do!"
That feisty temper was just like Tsunade's—no wonder she'd taken a liking to Kushina and dragged her around shopping all the time since coming back from the war.
But her outburst didn't sway the Sand ninja.
The second one gave a mocking sneer.
"Oh? And you expect us to believe that?"
"If you don't believe it, why'd you ask?" Kushina snapped, hands on her hips. Her blunt retort left him speechless.
The masked ninja's eyes narrowed. Reaching toward the short blade strapped to his waist, his voice dropped, now tinged with killing intent.
"I've got nothing to say to you Konoha brats. For all we know, this could be some Leaf scheme to abduct us and extract classified intel!"
The animosity wasn't surprising. Konoha and Suna were currently at war. These two clearly viewed Nawaki and Kushina as enemies.
Nagato and his friends, meanwhile, simply stood off to the side, watching coldly without interfering.
Just as the tension was about to boil over and Minato was about to speak up, a calm, ethereal voice echoed out.
It seemed to come from nowhere… and yet everywhere at once.
A chill ran down everyone's spine.
[Welcome, Reincarnators.]
[Here, you may face endless danger—but also limitless possibilities. So long as you keep fighting, you can obtain anything you desire.]
"Who's there?! Quit hiding and show yourself!" one of the Sand ninja roared, hurling a kunai in the direction of the voice.
Thud!
It embedded itself in a nearby tree trunk—but there was nothing there.
Kushina let out a snort of laughter. The Sand ninja flushed red and glared at her angrily.
The voice returned, seemingly answering the question—or perhaps simply continuing its speech.
[You may call me the Lord God.]
[Every month, I will summon you to different locations to complete missions—some in this world, others in entirely different ones.]
[Complete my missions, and you will earn points. With points, you can exchange for anything you desire—treasures, tools, jutsu, bloodlines… even lifespan.]
[Submitting jutsu or items will also grant you considerable points.]
[However, there are rules.]
• Exchanged techniques may not be shared—violation will result in erasure.
• Submitted content may not be passed to others—violation will result in erasure.
• Disclosing anything about the Reincarnator System to outsiders—will result in erasure.
• Killing a teammate from your own faction—will cost you double the current mission reward. If your point balance is insufficient: erasure.
Everyone fell silent.
Missions? Exchanges? Erasure?
To these people—who had never been on modern world—these concepts felt completely alien.
Several instinctively glanced at Nawaki. He, too, wore a slightly puzzled expression, as if deep in thought.
"Could this… not be a kidnapping?"
Someone muttered.
Before they could think further, a semi-transparent panel suddenly materialized in front of their eyes.
