POV - Kyas
I woke up in the dark, my head aching, confused. Where the hell was I? I lifted my hand to comfort my head and something heavy weighed it down. Something on my other hand too. Chains? The hell?
The sound and light from a taser, caught my attention. It illuminated Elias' face in an erie and sinister glow.
"Welcome back, little brother." he said. "These are amazing devices, you know that? Hit someone in just the right spot, and bam, lights out."
"What are you doing, Elias? Where's Asher?" I demanded. His lycan should be with him.
"Asher is taking a rather forced nap. Turns out, these things work on lycans too." he said.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"OH, that's right, no lights in here." he said, and I heard him walk a few steps. He pushed open a door. Light, cold lamplight flooded in. "Come here, look."
I got up, finding chains on my feet too. All of them connected to the wall farthest from the door. The door was right across from another cell. The one I had brought Elias to for the no kill command. I went to take another step, but the chains stopped me.I couldn't quite reach the door, but I could see outside of it.
"I believe that it was right about… here. That you had Papa stand in the shadows while I beat your ass." he stood in the spot that Alpha had been hiding in.
"What are we doing here, Elias?" I asked firmly. I lifted the chains. "What the hell is this?"
"This is me winning." He said. "This is where I end you."
"You know I could probably break these right?" I told him.
"Actually, you can't. See, I did my research. You should try it sometime. Did you know that the Fire Moon pack is quite famous for turning out True Gammas? Famous enough that they had to find a way to contain them, if the wrong type of person ended up with the power." He indicated the cell we were in. "Welcome home, Gamma."
"Release me, Elias. Now." I said, in a menacing tone.
"I don't think I will. I'm not done gloating. Did you know that you're immune to silver AND wolfsbane? They can't touch you, don't even leave a red mark. But there is something that can hold you - Brass." he said.
"Brass." I deadpanned.
"I know, right? The same stuff they make trumpets from. This cell is made of it, steel grade and then some, all made of brass. It's effective. It could drive someone insane with how effective it is. Those chains, also brass, cut you off from Chaos, and the brass cuts you off from the pack link - everything actually. Go ahead, try it." he said.
'Sir?' I sent. Nothing. He always answers.
There was a black wall where the barrier between me an Chaos had been. I couldn't see him. I fought to control the panic.
"Let me go." I demanded.
"Kyas. Why would I do that when I have you right where I want you? Didn't you hear Asher when he told you what I had planned as Alpha? To cut you off, from EVERYTHING. I did my research, Kyas. Who knew we had the way to do it right in our own dungeons.
"They'll find me, you know. They will notice I'm missing, they just made me Alpha." I reminded him.
"Of course they'll find you, eventually. After you're dead. The smell will bring them down here. But then it will be too late. Then I'm the only one left to be Alpha. I win that too." Elias sneered. "Once you're dead, as Alpha, I'll take your mate, and your little darling pups will be my personal pack slaves. I'm looking forward to it."
"So,,, What, you just leave me down here by myself until I starve to death or die of thirst?" I asked. Not rising to the bait. It's what he wants, I won't give it to him.
"Of course, that's the long and short of it, but not JUST that. That would be too easy. You see, the wrong sort to get Gamma power would use their bonds to influence others, to make them give up whatever the Gamma wanted. Gamma powers can be used for good or bad. The bonds can be used to care for or use the bond keeper. Probably never occurred to YOU to make someone feel sorry enough for you to give you their money through the bonds. Unfortunately for you, some of the others did." he said.
"I don't need a history lesson, let me out." I demanded again.
"No, but you DO need it Kyas, baby bro, you should have looked into it yourself, I mean, you're THE guy that should know this stuff." He told me.
"Let. Me. G-" I started.
"Kyas, QUIET!" he commanded, and my throat locked up. I tried to break it.
"This room, is genius, Kyas. It completely blocks your gamma power. It's still there, Gamma's can still check their bonds and play with them, but nothing leaves this room. But I'm not a gamma. I have alpha blood and alpha training. You're not alpha yet, so I outrank you. I. Get to command. YOU. Isn't that great? Ok, well, maybe not for you."
"Listen up, this is important." He said, pulling out something that looked like a black dagger with yellow stones on it. "This, is a dacra. This room, was created to contain you, but this… was created to punish you - the ones who used the bonds for bad things. Watch." he said.
He approached me with it, and raised the dagger, and my colors pulled up. He made them. "Oh, wow, Kyas, you were right! These are beautiful. Let me see… There's the pack, your school, the business, interesting, you have different layers for each of them."
He used the dacra to slice off a corner of one, slice the bonds. It felt like a kick in my chest. "Your 'gift' needs these bonds to survive, YOU need them to survive. So, if I cut all of these off, and you can't make even one new one, the pain will drive you insane and your power will die. If your lucky, the power will die before you go insane, and you'll be able to starve to death like a normal person would." he said with a nasty grin.
I moved, I pulled on the chains to break them as I tried for the door. They wouldn't come off. He stabbed my shoulder with the dacra. I backed away from him as far as I could. I hit the walls of the corner. Maybe if he came close enough, I could use a chain to choke him out, without killing him.
"Oh, no, little brother, you deserve this. You tried to touch what you can't have. You need to be punished. But, I'm not stupid." he said.
"Kyas, DON'T MOVE."
Then he came at me, raised my colors and started slashing, and I couldn't do a thing. Couldn't even scream. He didn't just cut them, he cut huge gashes in them and only when they were in ribbons did he cut them from where they connected to me. The only ones he couldn't cut were Ember's mate bond, and Sir's possession bond. Because I didn't make those.
It hurt. Like when I lost the twin bond the night we joined the pack. Again, the NOTHING that wasn't there. He left nothing when he was done. "There." He said. He released the command not to move and I crumbled, and curled into a ball, it hurt so much. He still didn't release me to scream. I did, but they were silent.
He grabbed my face and forced me to look at him. "I told you not to reach for it, Kyas. Not to touch what's mine, what I said you can't have. This is what happens when you don't listen. No one knows you're here, no one will hear you, cause I'm not lifting it, you can't leave and you can't contact the pack. No one to make a bond with, you're going to die. No one, and nothing. Now you have what you deserve.
He looked up suddenly. "I'd love to watch, little brother, but looks like Asher woke up and I'm not letting him find me here. Have a good death."
He went to stand and I caught his hand, skin to skin, and made one bond. His. He gave a nasty grin, and he left me. Didn't bother to close the door, he didn't need to.
His bond was black, but it did ease the pain of Nothing. I concentrated on it. It ended at the wall. I started working to turn it blue on my end, focus on that, just that one.
