POV - Kyas
I'm losing the battle. I can't believe I'm going to do this. I raise my hand, to Alpha Dalton! "Apologies, Alpha, I'm having an emotional moment." Barely holding it together. "All these nice things… I'm touched."
'Touched in the head.' Sir says.
'Wait, now I'm getting blown up AND touched?' Chaos said, in a scandalous tone.
I'm not gonna make it to the door. "One moment, please."
"Of course, Kyas, but if you don't mind, when you go out there, please address that laughing lunatic down the hall." Alpha Dalton says.
I'm gone, totally lost it, I'm laughing at Alpha Dalton! Rolling on the floor laughing.
'I hate you! I hate you both!' I screamed.
I dared to get up. Alpha Dalton was not pleased. Neither was my Alpha. "Apologies Alpha, but I am well acquainted with the man, and I know the reason he's laughing. It seems that certain individuals in the pack link are having jokes at his expense."
"I hardly think that should have had you on the floor." Alpha Dalton.
"Correct, Alpha, it was not appropriate at all, Apologies again." I said, my eyes on the floor.
"Indeed." he said. "As Alpha, I should hope that should we meet again, you will observe the appropriate decorum the occasion deserves."
"Count on it, Alpha." I said.
'Don't count on it.' Sir said.
"To business then, a few more items to discuss." He said.
"First, other than a certain lapse in judgement that I hope was temporary and will not repeat," I kept my eyes on the floor and cleared my throat. "With the unanimous approval of today's council, I am satisfied with Carlisle's choice. Kyas will succeed Carlisle as Alpha of Fire Moon Pack, within the year.
Next, I am very intrigued as to why a certain embrace as children could foster such intensity of opposition in one so young. Cameron, as the strongest lycan there, can we see if we can compel Elias to explain this.
"Of course, Alpha." Sir said. He looked at Elias, who I now noticed had murder in his expression. His eyes were dark with pure malice. At. Me.
'Distraction, my pet. You didn't need that this whole time.' Sir said.
'Uh huh. Maybe next time, try just telling me not to look at him.' I said.
'Which would make you look.' Sir said.
'They are waiting Sir.' I said.
"EXPLAIN." Sir commanded.
"Power!" Elias spat. "The first time he hugged my Papa, I saw it, I felt it. It was blue, and pulsed out of him. Now, I know that he was trying to create a bond with Papa with it, but he shouldn't have that power. It should have been mine! I'm the oldest! I was first! I should have it. Kyas, has his fucking power, he doesn't need anything else! He doesn't deserve anything else. It should have been mine! He took it from me! So I took EVERYTHING ELSE!"
He stood up and pounded the table.
"You can't make him Alpha! I'm supposed to be Alpha, he doesn't get to take that from me too!
'QUIET.' Sir said. 'SIT DOWN.' Elias obeyed.
Wow. He was jealous, of my colors… Just… Wow.
"Oh." Alpha Dalton said. Well… yeah, what do you say to that?
Alpha Dalton cleared his throat. "Ahem…Moving on. Kyas, have you considered your leadership? Beta, Gamma? We need at least some idea for the records, you can change them if needed, and then update us accordingly."
"Actually, yes, and no." I said. "I never expected to be considered, so I never thought about them as my own, but I've been having Delta Matthew Browning studying under Beta Scott for a while. He has an aptitude for the work and does quite well, and I figured he would be a good asset to the future Alpha, or an asset to whomever that Alpha installed as Beta.
For Gamma, Mindy Sparks. That woman fixed a true Gamma when she was six years old, and has done nothing but grow in her empathy and compassion and her love for this pack. While she's not a true Gamma herself, there's no one I can think of better suited for the role. I currently have Mindy at Trailcreek for Gamma training, she's set to graduate at the end of the fall semester. Again, with the intention of being a help to the new Alpha, or the Alpha's choice. I was planning to having her learn under Gamma Chris, and myself of course after graduation.
I would, of course, keep Beta Scott and Gamma Chris on board for the interim, until they feel like their replacements are ready, with a deadline of two years."
"You… want a woman… as Gamma." Beta Wes said.
"I want someone suited to the job, Beta Wes, no matter the gender. I'm actually surprised more Alphas don't consider them. Women have a deep capacity for love, home, and family by their own nature, and that's kind of what Gamma is all about, isn't it?" I asked.
"Indeed… Well, I guess, as to that, you would be the expert on the matter." Beta Wes said.
"Alright, I have one more question, for Asher." Alpha Dalton said.
"Alpha?" Asher responded.
"As Elias' lycan, will you be making that bond permanent as well?" Alpha Dalton asked.
"NO!" he said loud and fast. "I've tried for years to get through to him and nothing works, he simply cannot get past this obsession. It's exhausting, and negative and I'd like to be done with it. I'd like to take on a charge I can actually help, instead of being tied to one that I can't." Asher finished.
"Very well. I will accept your recommendation to have him surrendered to the capitol, and will begin the search for a suitable hand off. Make travel arrangements as soon as possible, and we will anticipate your arrival." Alpha Dalton finished.
"I believe that concludes the items on the agenda, and frankly, this meeting has gone on long enough. Kyas, congratulations." He said.
"Thank you, Alpha Dalton, and um… Apologies, again, for… earlier." I said.
"Indeed." He said. "You really should locate a helmet or something to keep Cameron out when there's important work to be done."
I lost it.
