Chapter 8 - Misunderstanding

Grace felt very dizzy; her body also became very weak after the doctor took two of her blood bags. She began to think that if Claire continued to influence Jackson, then her life could be in danger. She didn't want to die silly just for staying in an unwanted marriage.

Jackson did not show up after the blood transfusion. It was uncertain what that man was doing now. He must be accompanying Claire in her ward.

"I shouldn't have sacrificed this much just to hold on to a marriage that was doomed from the start." Grace said to herself.

There was no choice but to ask Shane for help.

Grace went to the reception desk, borrowing the hospital phone to call Shane. She was brought to the hospital unexpectedly, so she didn't have her cell phone with her when she was dragged there by Jackson.

The first call was not received by Shane. The man rarely picked up calls from unknown numbers.

"Please pick up, Shane." Grace said nervously.

Grace repeated the call; fortunately, this time the call was immediately received by Shane.

"Shane, it's me." Grace said immediately before the call was unilaterally hung up.

"Grace?" Shane asked for confirmation.

"Yes, I need your help." Grace finally chose to give up. She couldn't keep standing on her own feet; she needed help this time.

"What can I do for you?"

"Please pick me up at the hospital now." Grace said weakly.

Three years ago, the Brown family had forbidden her to marry Jackson. Because everyone knew Jackson only loved Claire in his life. A marriage without love would only bring hurt. However, she insisted on marrying Jackson because she had loved him for a long time. If she had known this would be the case, she would never have forced the marriage. She thought she could change Jackson's feelings for her. But in reality, Jackson hated her more and more as time went on.

"What happened to you? Are you sick?" Shane sounded very panicked.

"I'll tell you later; I'm wanna going home."

"Where is Jackson in this situation? You even had to call me to pick you up. What is that guy doing?!" Shane sounded very upset. He was upset not because Grace asked for his help, but he was upset because Jackson was unreliable. What kind of husband leaves his wife alone?

"I don't want to argue this time; please pick me up." Grace repeated her request.

"Which hospital are you at? I'll be right there; don't go anywhere." Shane said hurriedly.

Grace told him the address of the hospital where she was, after which she turned off the phone and went to the hospital lobby. She waited anxiously there. In fact, she was still in a dilemma about whether to give up or stay in the painful marriage.

A heavy sigh could be heard coming from Grace.

"Maybe it's time for me to really give up." She said to herself.

After waiting for some time, Shane finally arrived. The man waved as he ran over. The worry on his face was very clear.

"Are you okay?" Shane stood right in front of Grace.

Grace nodded gently. However, her pale face, the corners of her scarred lips, as well as her bruised and swollen cheeks, made Shane's anger peak. Just by looking at Grace's current condition, she could already guess the hardships Grace had gone through.

"Jackson did this to you?" Shane asked in a trembling voice. His chest ached, and his eyes were teary and red. He wanted to cry to see Grace treated this harshly. In the Brown family, Grace was treated very well. She was treated as a princess who was showered with tenderness and also a lot of affection. She was like a gemstone because the Brown family wanted a daughter. The gemstone that they had guarded so well all these years was treated like trash by others.

"I'll make it up to him!" Shane said hatefully.

Grace shook her head slowly. "You don't have to do anything; I'm already determined to get a divorce from him. You're right, love can't be forced. I've tried all these three years, but the winner is still his first love." The woman bowed her head. She tried to hide her face that looked so miserable. She never regretted loving Jackson. She was only sorry that she realized it now.

Shane understood. He embraced her body tenderly, trying to calm her down.

Jackson, who was looking for Grace's whereabouts, immediately stopped his steps when he found his wife being embraced by another man. His blood rushed; his face flushed with anger. He don't know what made him angry. Either because of his feelings for Grace or because he felt his pride was being trampled when his wife was with another man.

Jackson clenched his hands into fists. He walked quickly toward Shane, pulling the man away until his embrace on Grace's body was broken. He threw a hard punch, sending Shane to the floor with a bloody nose.

They were suddenly the center of attention.

"What are you doing?!" Grace looked both surprised and annoyed. She walked over to Shane, helping him to his feet. She looked very worried, but at the same time felt bad for Shane.

"How dare you invite your man here! I thought you were dying after I took two bags of your blood for Claire, but you were making out with another man!" Jackson vented his anger at Grace.

Grace no longer cared about Jackson's judgment of her; after all, they were going to get divorced soon.

"You took two bags of her blood? Are you crazy? Your wife is pregnant, and you took her blood for your mistress? Do you intend to kill your child and wife?" Shane couldn't believe it. "The cut on the corner of her lip, as well as the bruise on her cheek, that must be your doing, right? You're the one who hit her, right? I trusted you with my sister, but this is how you treated her!"

"Stop hiding behind the words sister and brother; I know that you guys are having an affair. I don't care about the fetus in that woman's stomach. That child is not my flesh and blood, but yours!" Jackson pointed at Shane's face with emotion.

"You-"

"That's it, Shane. It's useless for you to argue with him. I want to get out of here." Grace said, holding back tears.

"I won't let you go. Claire needs two more blood bags; give me your blood!" Jackson pulled Grace roughly.

"Bastard! You really want to kill her!" Shane couldn't take it anymore. He delivered a hard punch to Jackson's head.
