Chapter 5 - History

In the orphanage's living room, Michelle sat on the floor playing with her Doey toy while the other orphans played around. Michelle heard a Poppy Playtime TV jingle go off, which made her look at it.

Soon after, Michelle saw a child holding a pink, spider-like toy with green eyes. "Look, it's Mommy Long Legs, the coolest toy around," the kids on TV sang.

The commercial changed to the Mommy Long Legs toy being stretched. "You can stretch her legs or hang her upside down," the kids on TV sang. "Try to twist and bend her in every kind of way."

The TV showed a kid playing with a Mommy Long Legs toy. "Now it's time to have some fun; Mommy Long Legs likes to play!" the kids on TV sang.

Soon after, the TV showed the Playtime Co. logo. "With Playtime Co.'s new patented Elastic Plastic, you can stretch, pull, and twist Mommy Long Legs in the craziest way," the man in the commercial said.

Michelle hummed a bit. "She loves watching you play; when you're having fun, she's having fun," the man in the commercial continued.

Soon after, the commercial showed the Mommy Long Legs toy with her legs twisted and her left arm up. "The new Mommy Long Legs from Playtime Co.," the man in the commercial said before it changed to a colorful panel. "What's the time? Playtime!"

Michelle smiled as the TV program returned. "That looked awesome," she said. Michelle looked at her Doey toy. "You'll always be my favorite Doey, but..." she said before looking at the TV. "You definitely need a new friend."

Michelle smiled. "If I do well on my chores and my schoolwork, maybe the caregivers will reward me," she said before giggling.

...

Michelle lay on the ground in the dark room. Michelle groaned as she sat up. What... happened to me? she thought before standing up. "Misha..." the voice surprised Michelle. "Misha..."

Michelle looked around the area, confused. "Who's... calling me?" she asked herself. A bright light shone at the back, which made Michelle turn to it while covering her face with her hand. "Misha..." the voice said.

Michelle glanced at the light with squinted eyes. "I need to go there..." she said before sprinting forward. When Michelle reached the light, she saw a dim red light above her and felt her head lying on something soft. "Where... am I?" she asked, lowly.

"Misha..." Michelle turned her head to the voice and saw Huggy Wuggy looking at her concerned. Michelle looked at Huggy Wuggy. "Huggy..." she said, lowly, before sitting up. "That's right, I'm still in the factory."

Huggy Wuggy wrapped his arms around Michelle before pulling her into a hug, which surprised her. "Misha OK..." he said. Michelle looked at Huggy Wuggy. "Oh, were you worried about me?" she asked.

Huggy Wuggy quickly nodded, which made Michelle smile a bit and pet his head. "Sorry for scaring you, big guy, but I'm alright now," she said. Huggy Wuggy looked at Michelle. "Promise...?" he asked. Michelle smiled. "I promise," she said.

As Michelle looked around the room, she noticed the Poppy Playtime doll had disappeared, which shocked her. "Poppy disappeared," she said before looking at Huggy Wuggy. "Did you see her?"

Huggy Wuggy shook his head as he let go of Michelle. "Too dark... to see..." he said. Michelle hummed, "That's a shame..." she said, lowly. Michelle looked at Huggy Wuggy. "I guess our next step is to find that Poppy doll," she said.

Huggy Wuggy nodded as he got up, and the duo walked forward. As Michelle examined Huggy Wuggy's head wound, she noticed a large red spot on his bandage. "Once we get to a safe area, I'll take care of your head wound," she said.

Huggy Wuggy whimpered. "More bad liquid...?" he asked. Michelle shook her head. "I won't be using the alcohol wipes again; I'm only gonna take the old bandage off your head and rewrap it with new gauze," she said.

Huggy Wuggy sighed in relief. "Good..." he said, lowly. Michelle smiled. "And if you stay still and behave well, I'll reward you with another cookie bag," she said. Huggy Wuggy smiled and quickly nodded as they entered the room.

When Michelle looked at the entrance, she saw a bunch of objects covering the door, which surprised her. "Did she do that all by herself? Just how strong is she?" she asked.

Huggy Wuggy turned his head to the right and placed his hand on Michelle's shoulder, which made her look at him. "Did you find something?" she asked. Huggy Wuggy pointed to the right. "Door..." he said, lowly.

Michelle turned her head to the right and saw a door. "This might lead us to something..." she said. When the duo was close to the door, Michelle placed her hand on the handle before twisting it.

When Michelle opened the door, they saw a long, colorful hallway. Huggy Wuggy crouched before the duo entered. "Let's see what secrets you hold," Michelle said as they walked forward.

As Michelle looked around, she saw a cartoonish version of Huggy Wuggy and a red dinosaur toy eating a branch. "I remember seeing Bron toys in the gift shop back when this was still open, but if I remember correctly, they didn't sell well," she said.

Soon after, the duo was halfway through the hallway. "This way..." a faint voice said, which surprised them. Huggy Wuggy looked around with a slight growl, which made Michelle look at him.

Michelle looked at Huggy Wuggy's hand before holding it, which made him look at her. "It'll be fine, I promise," she said. Huggy Wuggy calmed down and nodded before they walked forward. Soon after, the duo stood before a door with the title 'Elliot Ludwig' above it.

Huggy Wuggy stared at the title with a growl, which made Michelle look at him. "Huggy?" she asked. Michelle looked at the title before looking at Huggy Wuggy. "Not a fan of Elliot Ludwig, huh?" she asked.

Huggy Wuggy snarled. "Badman..." he said, lowly. Michelle hummed. "Well, we don't have to worry about him showing up; he passed away years ago," she said. Huggy Wuggy stared at the title with a slight growl before the duo backed away.

When Michelle looked around, she noticed the left pathway was barricaded. "It looks like we won't be going to the left for a little while," she said. "Let's take the path on the right."

Huggy Wuggy nodded before they walked to the right. Soon after, the duo saw a large gap and a door in the distance. Michelle looked at the gap. "How can I cross this?" she asked herself.

Huggy Wuggy wrapped his arm around Michelle, which surprised her. "Huggy carry Misha..." he said, lowly, before lifting her.

As Huggy Wuggy placed his foot in the gap, they heard a faint voice. "Keep going..." it said. Michelle looked around as Huggy Wuggy walked forward. "I wonder whose voice it is?" she asked herself.

After Huggy Wuggy crossed the gap, he placed Michelle on the ground before getting out. "Thanks for the help, big guy," she said, which made him nod.

When Michelle looked at the ground, she saw a Bron toy with blood surrounding it. "If I hadn't seen your head wound, I never would have believed that a toy could bleed," she continued.

Huggy Wuggy was silent before they walked forward. Soon after, the duo arrived at an area with a barricaded opening and a Huggy Wuggy cutout wearing a GrabPack.

Huggy Wuggy stared at the cutout before pressing the button; it let out a jolly laugh, which startled him a bit. Michelle quietly giggled as Huggy Wuggy examined the cutout before looking around.

Soon after, Michelle spotted barrels covering a door. "I think we can pull these barrels away from the door," she said before approaching them. "Give me a hand, Huggy." Huggy Wuggy nodded as he approached the barrels.

Michelle pulled both triggers, launching both hands and grabbing a barrel before pulling away, while Huggy Wuggy wrapped a barrel in his arms and moved it to the other side.

After the duo had cleared the barrels, Michelle approached the door and opened it. When the duo looked around the room, they spotted a key with a poppy flower hanging on the wall. "I bet that key will let us get into El— I mean... his room," Michelle said.

Huggy Wuggy nodded as Michelle entered the room and approached the key. Michelle grabbed the key before leaving the room. "Let's head back to his office," she said. Huggy Wuggy nodded as they left.

After Huggy Wuggy carried Michelle over the gap, they arrived at Elliot's office. Michelle put the key in the lock and twisted it, unlocking the door.

After Michelle opened the door, the duo entered an office room with a TV and a brown VHS player in the corner. Michelle looked around. "I never thought I would get to enter the big man's office," she said.

When Michelle turned to Huggy Wuggy, she noticed he was staring at a drawing of himself holding hands with a Kissy Missy drawing.

Michelle approached Huggy Wuggy and looked at the drawing. "You miss her, don't you?" she asked. Huggy Wuggy whimpered, which made Michelle pat his leg. "There, there... I'm sure we'll find her along with our other friends," she said.

Huggy Wuggy looked at Michelle, confused. "Our friends...?" he asked. Michelle smiled. "Well, yeah, I consider you a friend, too," she said.

Huggy Wuggy stared at Michelle before petting her head. "Friend..." he said, lowly. Michelle smiled and looked at the bandage. "Hey... since we're in a safe place, let's take care of your bandage," she said.

Huggy Wuggy nodded and stopped petting Michelle before getting on his knees and taking her bag off. After Huggy Wuggy placed the bag on the ground, Michelle unzipped it and pulled out the first-aid kit.

Michelle then unwrapped Huggy Wuggy's bandage and examined the head wound. "It looks like the bleeding slowed down; that's a good start," she said before laying it on the ground.

Michelle grabbed the rolled gauze from the first-aid kit and wrapped it around Huggy Wuggy's head wound.

Michelle tore the end part and gently patted it against the bandage. "There we go..." she said before putting the rolled gauze back in the first-aid kit and closing it.

After Michelle put the first-aid kit back in the bag, she pulled out a small bag of cookies. "And here's your reward for being good," she continued. Huggy Wuggy smiled as he grabbed the bag before tearing the top part with his teeth.

As Huggy Wuggy ate the cookies, Michelle smiled and zipped her bag before grabbing the dirty bandages and standing up. As Michelle tossed the bandage away, she spotted a brown VHS tape and a note on Elliot's desk.

After Huggy Wuggy finished eating and put Michelle's bag back on, she approached the desk and grabbed the tape and the note. "Let's see what kind of information you have," she said before looking at the note.

Huggy Wuggy looked at Michelle as she read the note. "It seems like whatever they were testing, they did it on a rat first," Michelle continued. "They tried reviving it, but it didn't work."

Michelle placed her hand on her chin. "And the thing that supposedly killed it was a mixture of some preservative gel and a poppy flower," she said. "Just what were these bastards testing?"

Michelle looked at the tape. "Let's see what you've got," she said before approaching the VHS player. After Michelle inserted the tape, the duo looked at the screen as it booted up.

Soon after, the video showed the factory. "Playtime Co. is the product of a great man by the name of Elliot Ludwig," a man on the TV said before revealing a picture of Elliot, but with a black bar covering his face. "Divorced but a family man at hearts."

Huggy Wuggy snarled at the video, which made Michelle pet his leg. "It's alright, buddy; it's only a biography video," she said.

Huggy Wuggy calmed down a bit but glared at the TV. "His sights were always set on bringing amazing toys to amazing children around the globe," the man on the TV said as it revealed a Poppy Playtime doll.

Soon after, the TV revealed scientists working in the labs. "Ludwig spent countless hours in the factory working overtime relentlessly in an attempt to continuously innovate and surprise," the man on the TV continued.

Soon after, the video showed a woman grieving at a gravestone. "In the 1960s, an unfortunate family death had pushed Ludwig down to his lowest," the man on the TV said. "But with so much ambition, he rose back up and continued to fulfill his vision for the Playtime Co. Toy Factory."

Michelle crossed her arms. "Ludwig could never be content leaving a project unfinished, but just how did one man come to create such an outstanding empire?" the man on the TV asked. "How did he manage to stay determined even after suffering such a tragic loss?"

Soon after, the TV showed text reading 'The Beginning'. "It all began in the faithful year of 19—" the TV immediately cut off before it went blank. Michelle looked down. "Wow... I never knew he lost that much..." she said, lowly. "But... if that man's ambition caused all of this..."

Huggy Wuggy screeched as he grabbed the TV and tore it off before slamming it against the desk, which destroyed it. Huggy Wuggy stared at the broken desk as he panted. "Let's just... leave this place..." Michelle said, lowly.

Huggy Wuggy nodded as Michelle looked around. "The question is... how do we get out of here?" she asked herself. Soon after, Michelle spotted a vent grille and pulled the right trigger. The red hand grabbed the vent grille and tore it off.

Michelle examined the vent. "It looks like it'll be a tight squeeze," she said before looking at Huggy Wuggy. "C'mon, Huggy." Huggy Wuggy nodded before they entered the vent.
